Chapter 238: Chapter 238: It Must Be a Misunderstanding

Mrs. Liu Heng exploded upon hearing Xu Jinzhi’s words, cursing like a shrew without any sense of decorum.

Xu Jinzhi didn’t want Tuantuan to witness such a scene, so she nudged Xie Yanchuan beside her, "Take Tuantuan out for a walk."

Xie Yanchuan furrowed his brow, seemingly worried; that woman was so difficult to deal with, and he didn’t feel at ease leaving Xu Jinzhi alone here.

Xu Jinzhi said, "What’s there to be afraid of? The police are here, and besides, do you think she’s my match if it really came to blows?"

Xie Yanchuan thought about it and decided she was right. After another glance at the crazed woman opposite him, he stood up with Tuantuan in his arms and left the mediation room first.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Liu Heng continued to curse loudly, with the police in the mediation room feeling on the verge of collapse, convinced there was no way to mediate the situation.

Not only that, Xu Jinzhi’s lawyer also quickly arrived on the scene.

Mrs. Liu Heng was still yelling and shouting, but deep down, she was already starting to panic as things seemed to be getting more complicated, moving in a direction she couldn’t control.

"Miss Zhao, please calm down, or have your lawyer come talk to me directly," Lawyer Lu said seriously.

"I, I—" Mrs. Liu Heng tried to speak twice but couldn’t utter a single word, her face turning an ugly shade.

Only now did Mrs. Liu Heng truly start to panic.

A brief silence filled the mediation room until once again the doorway stirred, and a somewhat hasty voice said, "Sorry, sorry!"

Mrs. Liu Heng heard the familiar voice and turned around to see her husband Liu Haiyang rushing in, as if she had finally found her pillar of support.

Yet, at this moment, she felt a surge of anger and could only scold the man who had just arrived, "Why did you only just get here?"

When Liu Haiyang saw his wife yelling at him, his expression showed a moment of irritation, but considering they were in public, he restrained the impatient look on his face.

"Sorry, I got held up by something," Liu Haiyang approached.

Moments later, Liu Haiyang began to ask about the specific details of the incident.

After understanding what had transpired, his face turned rather unsightly, though it was unclear exactly why.

"Mr. Liu, I will be taking over for Mr. Xu in dealing with what follows. Do you want your lawyer to come over, or will you talk to me directly?" Lawyer Lu spoke up again.

Liu Haiyang stared at Lawyer Lu when he saw him, and everyone waited for Liu Haiyang to respond, but he looked uncertain, glancing at Lawyer Lu and then at the woman beside him.

"Is it Mr. Xu of Xu Group?" Liu Haiyang asked uncertainly.

Xu Jinzhi didn’t answer the question, having no recollection of the man in front of her.

In fact, Liu Haiyang didn’t know Xu Jinzhi, but he was familiar with Lawyer Lu and knew he was from the legal affairs department of Xu Group.

Having just heard him call for Mr. Xu, Liu Haiyang couldn’t help but speculate.

"Mr. Liu, let’s first discuss the matter regarding the two children," Lawyer Lu suggested, neither confirming nor denying, simply moving past that topic.

However, after Lawyer Lu’s indirect admission, Liu Haiyang’s expression completely changed, and he immediately turned very respectful, "Misunderstanding, misunderstanding! This must be a misunderstanding!"

Before Lawyer Lu could say anything more, Liu Haiyang was already shoving his wife, saying harshly, "Aren’t you going to apologize to Mr. Xu right away?"

Mrs. Liu Heng never expected the situation to turn out like this. Wasn’t her husband supposed to support her upon his arrival?

Why was he now asking her to apologize?

"Liu Haiyang, what do you mean by this?" Mrs. Liu Heng was furious.

But Liu Haiyang couldn’t care less. When he first found out that it was his son who had stolen something and then got pushed over, he didn’t think his son was wrong. However, after knowing the identity of the other party, Liu Haiyang changed his tune!

"Apologize when you’re told to apologize! Look at how you spoil the child! If you keep this up, you’re going to ruin him one day!" Liu Haiyang rebuked sharply.

Mrs. Liu Heng, however, was not someone who took grievances quietly. At this point, she’d already forgotten that her son was hurt and started to question her husband.

"What do you mean, Liu Haiyang? What do you mean by saying it’s my fault?" Mrs. Liu Heng’s voice was piercing, filling the entire mediation room.

Xu Jinzhi only felt a headache coming on; dealing with such a nutcase was really bad luck.

"Lawyer Lu, I’ll leave the follow-up matters to you," Xu Jinzhi said, no longer having the patience to drag out the situation and after informing Lawyer Lu, she headed outside.

Liu Haiyang, while angry at his wife’s attitude, immediately shifted his focus upon seeing Mr. Xu about to leave.

"Mr. Xu, today’s incident was definitely a misunderstanding, please don’t take it to heart..."

"Mr. Liu, my client has fully authorized me to handle this matter. If there’s anything you need to discuss, you can talk to me directly," Lawyer Lu stepped forward and intercepted Liu Haiyang.

Xu Jinzhi left the mediation room smoothly and saw Xie Yanchuan walking slowly, cradling Tuantuan. Yanchuan also saw Jinzhi and stopped in his tracks.

"How’s Tuantuan?" Jinzhi approached and asked.

Before Yanchuan could speak, Tuantuan already called out in a tender voice, "Mom."

Tuantuan had stopped crying by then, but with red-rimmed eyes and tear streaks on his face, it was evident he had been crying, which made him look pitiful.

"Were you scared just now?" Jinzhi asked in a gentle voice.

Tuantuan didn’t speak, which was as good as an admission.

Jinzhi continued to comfort him, "Don’t be afraid, Tuantuan, Mom and Dad will protect you."

Tuantuan still pouted, looking very aggrieved.

Yanchuan asked Jinzhi, "How did the handling of the situation go?"

At those words, Jinzhi’s eyes flashed with impatience, "That woman is so annoying, it’s like she’s sick. Let Lawyer Lu handle it."

"The police might still want us to settle it privately," Yanchuan said.

After all, the incident wasn’t really a big deal; it wasn’t realistic to take harsh actions against the other party, especially since it was their child who got hurt.

Jinzhi scoffed, "There’s always a way to teach them a lesson."

She didn’t like to bully others with her power, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t do it.

Given Mr. Liu’s attitude just now, although Jinzhi didn’t know him, he seemed likely to be in business too.

"There’s nothing much else, let’s take Tuantuan home," Jinzhi said.

Yanchuan nodded, and then the family of three headed outside.

However, on the way, Jinzhi received a phone call from Teacher Xiao Huang.

Thinking Teacher Xiao Huang had something to discuss, Jinzhi answered the call, but before Xiao Huang could say anything, she heard a man’s voice instead.
