Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Not Just Tuantuan Who Needs to Adapt

Because they had already reserved a spot in a nursery school, and had arranged everything in advance, Xu Jinzhi and his family had no need to worry about those matters anymore.

However, before the start of school, there were various procedures to undertake.

Xu Jinzhi had just come out of confinement, but he had not yet officially returned to work at the company. Given that Xie Yanchuan was busy with his laboratory work, Xu Jinzhi took it upon himself to handle Tuantuan’s school preparations.

In the blink of an eye, it was already the first of September.

Xie Yanchuan didn’t have classes that day, nor did he go to the laboratory. He had purposely cleared his schedule just to accompany Xu Jinzhi in taking Tuantuan to kindergarten.

Xu Jinzhi was woken by the alarm clock that morning; his sleep schedule was a bit erratic, as he still needed to feed Sui Sui at night, and sometimes really couldn’t get enough sleep.

To avoid waking up late on this important day, Xu Jinzhi had specifically set the alarm, and leapt out of bed as soon as it went off.

After Xu Jinzhi had hurriedly prepared and rushed downstairs, he saw Tuantuan’s unhappy face.

A bit puzzled, Xu Jinzhi asked, "Tuantuan, why are you unhappy so early in the morning?"

Tuantuan pouted, displaying an extremely aggrieved expression, but had no intention of explaining his feelings to Xu Jinzhi.

With no other choice, Xu Jinzhi turned to Xie Yanchuan beside him, hoping to get some inside information from him.

Xie Yanchuan indeed knew, and said somewhat helplessly, "Tuantuan wants to bring Sui Sui along to kindergarten."

Of course, this was impossible. Xie Yanchuan had already refused Tuantuan, so Tuantuan was now sulking.

Xu Jinzhi paused briefly, then patiently explained to Tuantuan, "Sui Sui is still young and doesn’t need to go to kindergarten yet. She can go when she’s older."

In their past life, Sui Sui was born when Tuantuan was already six years old.

Due to Xie Yanchuan’s departure, the young Tuantuan had become the man of the house, and back then Tuantuan would never have thought of bringing Sui Sui along to kindergarten.

"Can I just not go to kindergarten then?" Tuantuan looked at Xu Jinzhi with a pitiful expression.

Xu Jinzhi shook his head. "You’re already three and a half years old, you must go to kindergarten."

Although Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan both dearly loved Tuantuan, they weren’t completely lenient.

Tuantuan’s face was filled with grievance again, and Xu Jinzhi coaxed, "We will go together to drop off Tuantuan at kindergarten. Then, when school is over in the afternoon, we’ll pick you up and come home together. How’s that sound?"

Knowing he had no choice but to go to kindergarten, Tuantuan reluctantly agreed.

Xu Jinzhi immediately smiled, cupped Tuantuan’s little face, and gave him several kisses.

Tuantuan wasn’t uncomfortable with this; after all, whenever Xu Jinzhi was at home, he would give Tuantuan a morning kiss every day.

After they had breakfast, the family of four then set out.

Tuantuan was still somewhat unhappy, but he felt a bit better when allowed to take his Legos with him to school.

The kindergarden was some distance from their villa, and being both the start of school and a workday, it inevitably led to some traffic congestion.

As time was getting tight, Xu Jinzhi became increasingly anxious at the bottom of his heart, fearful that Tuantuan would be late on his first day.

Fortunately, when they arrived, they were not late, and many parents and children were still gathered at the entrance of the kindergarden.

"Tuantuan, you need to listen to the teacher in kindergarten and if there’s anything you can’t resolve, remember to go to the teacher," Xu Jinzhi seriously told Tuantuan.

Because Tuantuan was still young, Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help but coax him with a soft voice.

Tuantuan nodded listlessly and obediently said, "Bye Mom and Dad, bye little sister."

Finally, under the teacher’s guidance, Tuantuan walked toward the kindergarten on his own with his little backpack.

Sui Sui was still too young to understand anything and was being held quietly by Xie Yanchuan.

Yet, as Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan watched Tuantuan walk away, they felt somewhat sentimental.

Tuantuan had had several breathing pauses since he was born, but now, at three and a half, he was starting kindergarten.

A child starting school marks the true separation from their toddler years, as well as the beginning of their own life.

Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help feeling a bit heartbroken, and so did Xie Yanchuan.

Xu Jinzhi wasn’t usually an emotional person, not needing Xie Yanchuan’s comfort, but now he had become more emotional, and besides reflecting, Xie Yanchuan had to comfort Xu Jinzhi.

Xie Yanchuan didn’t say much, knowing words would be weak at that moment; he simply freed one hand to place on Xu Jinzhi’s shoulder.

Xu Jinzhi came to her senses, seeing Xie Yanchuan holding Sui Sui with one hand, she quickly recovered from her emotions, reminding Xie Yanchuan to be careful.

"Will Tuantuan cry?" Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help but worry again.

Xu Jinzhi remembered that in her previous life, Tuantuan hadn’t cried on his first day of kindergarten, but this life’s Tuantuan was more introverted.

Additionally, since he hadn’t wanted to, Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help worrying that Tuantuan would end up crying in kindergarten.

Xie Yanchuan was silent for a while, "He won’t; Tuantuan just doesn’t like playing with other kids."

"So, are we going back now, or what?" Xu Jinzhi was conflicted, knowing that Tuantuan had grown up and needed to get used to it, but she couldn’t stop worrying.

In the end, Xie Yanchuan made the decision, "Let’s go back for now. If there’s an issue, the teacher will tell us."

So, Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan headed back home with Sui Sui.

However, once back home, Xu Jinzhi was preoccupied, clearly thinking about Tuantuan.

Xie Yanchuan didn’t say much, understanding that not only Tuantuan needed to adjust, but they as parents did too.

Sui Sui was a very well-behaved child, but she couldn’t settle down, needing someone to play with her whenever she was awake.

Xie Yanchuan then went to soothe Sui Sui.

At around three in the afternoon, Xu Jinzhi started urging Xie Yanchuan to leave for the kindergarten; by the time they’d get there, it would be almost time to pick up Tuantuan.

By the time they arrived, many cars were already parked outside the kindergarten, obviously belonging to other parents picking up their children.

The sun was still a bit harsh, but Xu Jinzhi wasn’t bothered by it as she eagerly awaited.

Until the kindergarten’s gates opened and teachers started streaming out with children, Xu Jinzhi couldn’t resist rising to her tiptoes.

Soon, Xu Jinzhi spotted Tuantuan in the middle of the line-up and excitedly shouted, "Tuantuan!"

It was very noisy at the gate, and Tuantuan didn’t hear her call; she couldn’t help but wave her hand again.
