Immortal Venerable of the Beast Race-Chapter 29 - Fire Cloud Armor_1

29: 29 Fire Cloud Armor_1
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
On this day, Shen Long walked out of the Martial Training Garden and headed down the mountain.
He happened to see Xu Lei and Sun Yang.
Xu Lei’s complexion was pale, and his breath was weak, resembling someone who had suffered a great loss of vital energy.
“Taoist Friend Xu, Taoist Friend Sun, you’re back.
Where are the others?”
Shen Long asked curiously.
“Xu Wen and Xu Wu were killed.
We owe our lives to Fairy Ye, who sacrificed a second-order Talisman to save us.”
Xu Lei sighed, his tone lacking strength.
A second-order monster wiped out Xu Wen and Xu Wu in a single encounter.
If it weren’t for Ye Yuqing sacrificing a second-order Talisman to trap the second-order monster bird, none of them would have survived.
“Where is Fairy Ye and the others now?”
Shen Long continued to ask.
“I’m not sure.
After she trapped the second-order monster bird with the second-order Talisman, we scattered and fled for our lives.
During my escape, I encountered several first-order Monster Beasts and was severely injured, but fortunately, I survived.”
Xu Lei spoke of how everyone scattered to escape, and though Sun Yang came out unscathed, he himself was seriously injured.
After a brief chat, Xu Lei and Sun Yang took their leave, and Shen Long continued down the mountain.
Before long, he arrived at the plaza where the Loose Cultivators set up their stalls and took a look around.
“Fairy Ye, you’re safe, that’s wonderful.”
Shen Long saw Ye Yutang and Ye Yuqing, both unharmed and intact.
If it weren’t for their setting up arrays to hunt Monster Beasts, their efficiency wouldn’t have been so high.
“Taoist Friend Shen, have Taoist Friend Xu and the others returned?”
Ye Yutang asked.
“Taoist Friend Xu and Taoist Friend Sun have returned, but Taoist Friend Xu is seriously injured.
What about Taoist Friend Qin?”
Shen Long replied truthfully.
“We scattered to save our lives, and I wasn’t with him.
I don’t know his current situation.”
Ye Yuqing explained.
Shen Long suddenly realized.
After a short conversation, Ye Yuqing and Ye Yutang left.
He strolled around the plaza, but finding nothing of interest, he returned to his residence to cultivate.
And so, Shen Long resumed his daily life—cultivation, practicing spells, wandering the plaza.
It was a routine cycle.
A month quickly passed.
Shen Long sat cross-legged on the stone bed, his eyes slightly closed, enveloped in a blue luminescent aura.
After a while, a Sound Transmission Talisman flew in and hovered in front of Shen Long.
Sensing something, he hastily ceased his cultivating and opened his eyes.
He grabbed the Sound Transmission Talisman, crushed it, and Sun Yiyue’s voice came out, “Taoist Friend Shen, are you there?”
Shen Long opened the door to find Sun Yiyue standing at the entrance, smiling she said, “Fairy Sun, why have you come?
Sending someone would have been enough.”
“My father sent me to deliver something to you.
May I come in to talk about it?”
Sun Yiyue asked politely.
Shen Long nodded and invited Sun Yiyue in.
With just a glance, Sun Yiyue had a clear view of all the arrangements inside the room.
She frowned, not out of disdain for the conditions here, but rather in surprise at how meager Shen Long’s living conditions were.
She found it truly precious how he had resigned and yet still sent a jug of Spiritual Wine to Sun Huowang every year in gratitude.
“This is the inner armor you requested, the mid-grade Magic Artifact, the Fire Cloud Armor.”
Sun Yiyue produced a piece of inner armor flickering with red light and handed it to Shen Long.
“The Fire Cloud Armor!”
Shen Long accepted the armor and examined it closely.
“Not bad.
How many Spirit Stones is it?”
Shen Long inquired.
“My father said he won’t take your Spirit Stones.
The remaining materials are for him.”
Sun Yiyue said.
“One shouldn’t accept rewards without merit.
Fairy Sun, please quote a price after all!”
Shen Long spoke earnestly.
“He who takes another’s money is bound to be accommodating, and it’s not like I can’t afford it.”
“You know my father’s temperament.
Once he says he doesn’t want it, that’s final.
Please don’t make things difficult for me.
Next year, I’ll buy a jar of fine wine for him instead.”
Sun Yiyue said.
“Alright then!
Please thank Shopkeeper Sun for me.”
Shen Long agreed.
“Taoist Friend Shen, my father wants you to be my Dao companion.
Why didn’t you agree?
Do you despise me for being ugly, or is there some other reason?”
Sun Yiyue asked.
She didn’t consider herself unattractive, and she had some admirers.
She had inherited Sun Huowang’s legacy in Artifact Refining and was not without some renown in Qianzhu Valley.
When Sun Huowang planned to marry her off to Shen Long, she was reluctant.
Shen Long was very ordinary, and there were many Loose Cultivators like him.
Sun Huowang valued Shen Long’s gratitude, knowing he wouldn’t be the one to commit perfidy; the same couldn’t be said for others.
After repeated persuasion by Sun Huowang, Sun Yiyue finally consented.
She had thought Shen Long would undoubtedly agree, but to her surprise, he decisively rejected the proposal.
“I don’t want to be involved in your dispute with the Li Family, not because I despise your looks.”
Shen Long told the truth.
Sun Yiyue nodded, finding the explanation reasonable.
“If the Li Family were not in the picture, would you agree to marry me?”
Sun Yiyue continued to inquire.
“No, we don’t have any feelings for each other.
Shopkeeper values me not because I am so outstanding but because I know to be grateful.
There are many Qi Refining Cultivators better than me; you don’t need to choose me.”
Shen Long spoke truthfully.
One must be self-aware, and Shen Long didn’t consider himself as one favored by the heavens.
He was just an ordinary Qi Refining Cultivator.
There were many Qi Refining Cultivators with higher Cultivation, better looks, and smoother tongues than him.
Why should it be his turn?
Most importantly, there were no feelings whatsoever between him and Sun Yiyue.
“I understand.
When you have time, do come to see my father.
He likes you a lot.
Thank you.”
After saying this, Sun Yiyue turned and left.
Shen Long put away his Fire Cloud Armor and walked out, just in time to see Qin Qing coming towards him.
“Taoist Friend Shen, you really surprise me!
To win over Fairy Sun, you won’t have to worry about food or clothing anymore.”
Qin Qing said with profound meaning.
“Taoist Friend Qin, you misunderstand.
She was just following Shopkeeper Sun’s instructions to bring me a message, that’s all.
I’m glad you’re okay.”
Shen Long said.
“Thanks to Fairy Ye, I didn’t expect she had a second-tier Talisman.
Just one costs several thousand Spirit Stones; it’s unimaginable.”
Qin Qing spoke enviously.
“Indeed!
Good thing we have Fairy Ye.”
Shen Long expressed his agreement.
Even at his wealthiest, he had owned no more than nine hundred Spirit Stones, not enough to buy even one second-tier Talisman, whereas Ye Yutang casually produced one.
“By the way, are Taoist Friend Xu and Taoist Friend Sun okay?
I can’t get in touch with them.”
Qin Qing asked.
“Taoist Friend Xu is injured; he’s probably healing.
Taoist Friend Sun wasn’t hurt; she might be in closed-door Cultivation.
They won’t be entering the mountain for a short while.”
Shen Long said.
After chatting briefly, Qin Qing took his leave.
Shen Long headed down the mountain.
He arrived at the entrance of the Treasure Pavilion and strode in.
“Taoist Friend Shen, you’ve arrived.
Please come upstairs.”
Upon seeing Shen Long, Lin Dong quickly approached and led him to the upstairs guest room.
“Taoist Friend Shen, have you managed to obtain any Monster Beast materials?”
Lin Dong asked.
“No, I am looking to buy powerful first-tier Talismans.
I wonder if Taoist Friend Lin has any recommendations.”
Shen Long inquired.
“Here are the first-tier Talismans from our shop.
Please take a look, Taoist Friend Shen.”
Lin Dong took out a Law Disk shining with golden light and handed it to Shen Long.
