Chapter 1408 - Severing the Origin

Smoochum happily held Delibird's hand and brought it over to her little friends Mime Jr. and Clefairy, proudly showing off the task Yuga had entrusted her with.

But the two little friends didn't really care about that — they were just curiously eyeing the Delibird, a Pokémon they had never seen before.

Noticing Mime Jr. and Clefairy staring at it, Delibird had a sudden thought. Acting extremely fawning, it reached into the sack on its back and pulled out two pieces of candy to offer them.

"Delibird~"

These are for you — they're really tasty.

Mime Jr. and Clefairy eyed the Delibird suspiciously.

"Mime Jr~ Mime Jr.~"

You didn't poison these, did you?

"Delibird~"

No way!

Delibird quickly shook its head in denial, doing its best to act like a kind and harmless Pokémon.

Seeing Delibird busy trying to please the two little friends and completely forgetting about her, Smoochum immediately became annoyed. She snatched the candy from Delibird's hand, tore off the wrappers, and shoved both pieces into her mouth all at once.

Mime Jr. and Clefairy had wanted to stop her, but Smoochum's movements were too fast — they couldn't keep up at all.

Fortunately, the candy really wasn't poisoned and was perfectly safe, so Mime Jr. and Clefairy didn't say anything more.

Delibird didn't mind Smoochum's behavior. Instead, it cheerfully pulled out two more candies from its sack.

"Delibird~"

Everyone gets some, everyone gets some!

But Mime Jr. and Clefairy still stared at it warily, not taking the candy.

Chomp chomp~ chomp chomp~

Smoochum smacked her lips, finding the candy delicious. Then she reached out and snatched the candy from Delibird's hand again.

"Smoochum~ Smoochum~"

You two don't want it? Then I'll take them all!

Seeing this, Delibird's face froze: Are you freaking serious? How shameless can you be?!

Smoochum didn't rush to eat the candies she just snatched. Instead, she carefully hid them close to her body, intending to save them for later. Because of the incident with Magby, Yuga had cut off her snack privileges, and she'd been upset about it.

"Smoochum~ Smoochum~"

Do you have more?

Ignoring Delibird's weird expression, Smoochum asked again.

(▼ヘ▼#) Delibird felt like ten thousand alpacas just stampeded across its heart.

Seeing Delibird not respond, Smoochum slowly turned her gaze toward the sack on its back.

If you don't give them, don't blame me for taking them by herself.

Smoochum wasn't worried at all about being punished by Yuga for bullying Delibird. Since Yuga had tied it up with a rope and asked her to keep an eye on it, he clearly didn't have a good impression of this guy anyway.

Got to admit, Smoochum was pretty clever.

Mime Jr. and Clefairy also noticed the mysterious sack and were filled with curiosity. They weren't actually interested in the candy — they just wondered what else might be in that bag.

Sensing the stares from the three Pokémon, Delibird reacted like it had been burned — it jumped up with a screech and clutched the sack tightly with its hands.

Delibird tried to fly away, but the rope tied to its foot yanked it back. It wasn't that it couldn't break free — it easily could. But because the rope was tied by Yuga, it didn't dare.

Mime Jr. and Smoochum exchanged a glance, then simultaneously used their psychic powers to yank Delibird down from midair.

Clefairy seized the opportunity and pounced, pinning Delibird to the ground and sticking its hand into the sack.

Delibird's sack was magical — it looked small, but when Clefairy reached in, it couldn't even feel the bottom.

No one knew what it grabbed, but Clefairy yanked something out.

Turns out — it was a whole bag of candy!

Clefairy wasn't very interested. She casually tossed the candy onto the ground, and when Smoochum saw this, she quickly ran over with a cheerful expression to pick it up, receiving a glare from Mime Jr.

Ugh, so shameless, all you think about is eating. No wonder your waist is nearly gone!

Smoochum didn't notice her friend's glare and eagerly looked at Clefairy, hoping she would pull out another bag of candy.

Of course, there was no more candy, but Clefairy then pulled out various other snacks and treats, as well as a selection of berries.

Smoochum wasn't interested in the berries at all — in Yuga's Ecopark, there were so many types of berries that she couldn't even finish them all, so she had grown tired of them long ago.

But snacks and treats? Those were a different story. Smoochum eagerly grabbed them all.

Who would've thought this Delibird was such a foodie?

Mime Jr.'s eyes widened in amazement at the pile of goodies. It really hadn't expected so much to come out of such a small package.

Mime Jr. too would love to have a bag like that! Unfortunately, that was a special racial ability of Delibird's, and no matter how much Mime Jr. envied it, there was nothing it could do.

Seeing its treasured stash getting pillaged, Delibird was heartbroken, but it couldn't break free from the psychic grip Mime Jr. and Smoochum had placed on it.

Earlier, when it almost got caught, Mime Jr. and Smoochum had put in a lot of effort in training. Though it hadn't been that long, the results were clear. This little Delibird was no match for them.

Once they finished going through the snacks, Clefairy began pulling out different items from the bag, such as various Evolution Stones and held items...

These were things Delibird had originally planned to deliver to members of Team Rocket who had made achievements, but unexpectedly, it had been tasked with delivering a message halfway and got caught by Yuga.

Unbelievable!

Perhaps even Giovanni didn't expect that Yuga could so shameless as to capture a messenger bird sent to deliver a message between two warring countries. No one kills the messenger!

After playing with the newly found items for a while, Mime Jr. and Smoochum quickly lost interest and planned to hand them over to Yuga later.

As Clefairy rummaged through the bag, her hand brushed against something round, and when she pulled it out, it turned out to be a Poké Ball.

Seeing the Poké Ball come out, Delibird became extremely agitated. It struggled desperately, but it couldn't break free. In a panic, it opened its mouth and unleashed an Ice Shard move.

Getting caught off guard, the three Pokémon were blasted by the Ice Shard and their faces covered in ice.

Fortunately, Delibird wasn't too strong, and it wasn't very skilled with Ice Shard move either, so the three Pokémon didn't suffer much harm, though they did feel quite cold, especially Mime Jr. and Clefairy, who weren't Ice-types.

Mime Jr., annoyed by the cold, ran over and slapped Delibird several times in quick succession, making it lose all its temper.

Seeing how much Delibird cared about that Poké Ball, Mime Jr. took it from Clefairy's hands.

As Mime Jr. pressed the button on the Poké Ball, a red light flashed, and a Pokémon appeared from inside.

As soon as the Pokémon emerged, the temperature around them suddenly spiked, and the ice shards on Mime Jr. and Clefairy instantly melted.

Smoochum who is terrified of the heat, screamed and, forgetting the treats she had been picking up, quickly dashed far away.

"Roar~~"

A scorching wave of heat erupted, flipping Mime Jr. and Clefairy over, even the Ice-type Delibird's fur was singed.

With Clefairy no longer holding it down, Delibird quickly flapped its wings and flew up into the air.

Meanwhile, after Yuga returned, he entered the Haunted House Sub-Ecopark.

After finding Jellicent here, Yuga said to it, "Jellicent, could you help me call Giratina over?"

Without saying a word, Jellicent agreed and disappeared into the Distortion Mirror in the blink of an eye. It had special permission granted by Giratina itself, so it didn't have to wait for the Distortion Mirror to recharge before using it.

Before long, Jellicent returned, bringing Giratina along.

Giratina had often taken advantage of Yuga's hospitality, so it was more than happy to fulfill Yuga's small request.

Once they entered the Haunted House Sub-Ecopark, Giratina looked at Yuga in confusion, not understanding why it had been called over.

"Giratina, I need a favor from you!" Yuga said, as he released Marshadow, who had been kept in a Master Ball.

Yuga didn't take any of the Pokémon belonging to Adrielle, Genos, Milolovide, or the others. He only took Marshadow.

Of course, he didn't intend to keep Marshadow for himself, as this Pokémon wasn't exactly trustworthy. He didn't want to be bitten back later.

At that moment, Marshadow was severely wounded, lying on the ground, unable to move, it only glaring fiercely at Yuga.

Giratina looked at Marshadow in confusion, then glanced at Yuga, still not understanding the situation.

"I want you to extract its origin!" Yuga said.

"Giratina~"

Upon hearing Yuga's words, Giratina's expression changed immediately. It let out a loud roar, and a tremendous pressure descended upon Yuga.

Although Giratina had a good relationship with Yuga, it didn't mean it would help Yuga harm another Legendary Pokémon. If Yuga truly intended to hurt another Legendary without reason, Giratina wouldn't hesitate to turn on him.

Fortunately, Giratina retained its rationality and didn't immediately attack. Instead, it waited quietly for Yuga's explanation.

Yuga then proceeded to tell Giratina everything Marshadow had done, including its schemes against the three Regis and Regice.

Yuga was confident that after hearing all this, Giratina would no longer protect Marshadow.

As expected, after listening to Yuga's account, Giratina's anger faded. It turned its gaze to Marshadow, waiting for an explanation, hoping to verify if Yuga's words were true.

Under the immense pressure from Giratina, Marshadow didn't even have the courage to lie and could only remain silent.

Seeing Marshadow's reaction, Giratina understood everything.

Yuga then said, "I'm not trying to take its life; I just want to ensure that after losing part of its origin, it will never cause trouble again!"

Giratina quietly watched Yuga for a while before reluctantly accepting his explanation. Regardless of Yuga's intentions, what he said did make sense.

After a moment of thought, Giratina called out to Yuga again. Yuga who is startled, quickly summoned Cosmoem.

Yuga guessed what Giratina meant. It wanted him to request Giratina to separate Marshadow's origin, which was exactly what he had planned.

Seeing Cosmoem, Giratina sucked in deeply and, with a powerful force, began extracting the dark energy from Marshadow.

The extraction of Marshadow's origin energy caused it immense pain, and it let out a sharp wail, echoing throughout the entire Haunted House Sub-Ecopark, causing the Ghost-type Pokémon living there to stir uneasily.

But as more and more of the origin energy was drawn out, Marshadow's cries grew weaker and weaker.

In the case of a Legendary Pokémon, as long as it wasn't dead, extracting its origin was extremely difficult for anyone other than the Pokémon itself; otherwise, the world would be thrown into chaos.

Even Giratina could only manage to extract Marshadow's Ghost-type origin energy, unable to do anything about its Fighting-type origin.

Finally, when Giratina felt enough had been done, it stopped the process. After all, it wasn't trying to kill Marshadow.

It turned its head, aimed at Cosmoem, and poured all the Ghost-type origin energy it had drawn from Marshadow into Cosmoem.

"Cosmoem~"

Cosmoem accepted the energy without hesitation Nx letting out a contented moan, which almost made Marshadow, who was lying nearby, roll its eyes in frustration.

"Ugh~"

As more and more Ghost-type origin energy was absorbed, a massive phantom of Lunala appeared around Cosmoem. The aura it emitted seemed to rival that of Giratina, subtly exuding a pressure that felt almost as formidable.

Under the weight of this oppressive force, Marshadow, having already lost most of its Ghost-type origin energy, struggled to even lift its head.

Is it about to evolve?

Seeing this scene, Yuga couldn't help but feel a flicker of joy in his heart.

However, just as the Lunala apparition flapped its wings as if to take flight, it vanished in the next moment, and Giratina finished transferring the origin energy.

"Cosmoem~"

Cosmoem happily flung itself into Yuga's arms, seemingly unchanged from before.

It still couldn't evolve! Yuga, stroking Cosmoem, felt a little disappointed inside.

Well, if it can't evolve, then it can't. Maybe this is actually the potential of Cosmoem! Yuga could only comfort himself with this thought.

"Giratina~"

At this moment, Giratina's roar snapped Yuga out of his thoughts. It seemed that Giratina was planning to take Marshadow back to the Distortion World to keep a close watch on it.

Yuga had no objections to this. After all, Marshadow was of no use to him now. Without most of its Ghost-type origin, Marshadow was so weak that it probably wouldn't even be able to defeat a regular Champion level Pokémon. It would likely take several hundred or even a thousand years to recover.

Being taken back to the Distortion World by Giratina would actually serve as a form of protection for Marshadow.

Once in the Distortion World, Marshadow would find it hard to leave without Giratina's permission. Any malicious intent would also be ineffective there.

"Alright, you can take this as well. With it, Marshadow won't be able to escape your control." Yuga said as he handed Giratina the Master Ball.

Giratina nodded and signaling Yuga to return Marshadow to the Poké Ball. Then, it took the Master Ball.

Before leaving, though, Giratina asked Yuga to help treat Marshadow's injuries.

Marshadow was already badly wounded, and now that its Ghost-type origin had been stripped away, it needed treatment, or it could die.

After receiving the Master Ball, Giratina took Jellicent and returned to the Distortion World.

Watching Giratina leave, Yuga let out a long sigh of relief. Although he had been a bit startled along the way, his goal had finally been achieved!

With a happy heart, Yuga left the Ecopark along with Cosmoem.

But as soon as he stepped outside, he heard an explosion. His house was billowing with thick black smoke, and it seemed to be on fire.

He had only been gone for a short while. What had happened?

Yuga immediately ran toward home, and when he entered, he found the place in complete chaos. Dou Dou and the Great Flygon were in the middle of a fierce battle with some Pokémon.
