I'm an Extra, so What?-Chapter 28: Stealing An Opportunity
It didn't take more than thirty seconds for Luka to spot the scene he had been expecting.
Just ahead, three nobles—looking every bit like the cliché spoiled brats—had surrounded a young man.
Arthur.
The main character of the game.
He stood tall, his lean frame wrapped in countryside attire.
His short blue hair fell in soft bangs over his forehead, and his deep blue eyes held the calm vastness of the ocean.
A small silver cross earring dangled from his right ear, glinting under the sunlight.
Yet, despite the situation he was in, a giant smile remained on his undeniably handsome face.
Luka halted his steps, choosing to observe from a distance as a small crowd began to gather.
"Do you know who I am!?" The noble leading the charge barked, arms crossed over his chest.
Arthur parted his lips to respond, but before he could get a word out—
"Speak up, commoner!" snapped another noble.
"You stand before the first son of Duke Ironclad! Show proper respect!" The third noble added, his tone dripping with arrogance.
Arthur merely scratched his cheek, seemingly unfazed.
An uncomfortable silence stretched between them.
Luka rubbed his chin, watching intently. 'I wonder what he's going to say…'
In the game, this was the moment where the player had a choice—stand up for themselves, push back against the nobles, or remain passive and take the humiliation in silence.
It was a pivotal moment, one that would shape the main character's reputation early on.
'Now, what kind of choice will the main character make?' Luka thought.
"I…" Arthur clasped his hands together, bowing his head slightly in submission.
"I apologize. I didn't realize I was in the presence of such high-status nobles. It won't happen again. As you can tell, I'm from the countryside, so I wasn't exactly raised with proper etiquette."
Luka shook his head. 'Lame.'
The three nobles exchanged self-satisfied grins, basking in their perceived superiority.
"Good. It seems you know your place," the lead noble scoffed, chuckling as he clapped Arthur on the shoulder.
The gesture was meant to be friendly, but the condescension behind it was undeniable.
Arthur rubbed the back of his neck before asking, "Am I free to go now? I don't want to be late for the test."
The lead noble didn't answer.
Instead, one of his lackeys answered, smirking as he extended his hand.
"Sure, but first—five silver coins." His voice was mockingly.
"A sign of goodwill."
Luka sighed internally. 'Ouch. Going straight for the wallet, huh?'
This was the problem with players taking the passive route—once you bent over, people just kept pushing you further down.
Luka held back a laugh. He knew the main character had exactly five silver coins to his name. 'Dude is gonna be broke...'
Arthur's smile wavered—just for a split second—before he let out a quiet sigh. "I understand…"
Reaching into his pouch, he retrieved the coins, counting them carefully before dropping them into the noble's waiting palm.
"Here." Arthur's voice remained polite, but there was an undeniable stiffness to it. Though, he still tried to remain positive.
The noble smirked, bouncing the coins in his hand with a satisfied expression. "Much appreciated. You understand your place well."
'Alright, time for me to make my move…' Luka thought, his eyes narrowing slightly as he glanced over his shoulder.
"Serene, stay put. I'll be right back."
Serene, ever obedient, gave a silent nod without question.
Luka began stepping forward, pushing through the crowd.
As he did, he raised his voice just enough to cut through the murmurs of onlookers.
"Hey, no need to rob the poor, you spoiled bastards."
A heavy silence fell over…
Every eye turned toward Luka, stunned by the unexpected interruption.
"Huh?" The three nobles stiffened, momentarily caught off guard.
Luka flashed a toothy grin, his gaze sharp. "You heard me."
The momentary surprise on the nobles' faces quickly turned to irritation.
The lead noble turned fully, his expression darkening. "Who do you think you are?"
The other two flanked him, sneering.
"Yeah! How dare you speak to us like that?" one snapped. freewebnøvel.com
"Do you have a death wish? State your name!" the other barked.
Arthur remained silent as he watched the exchange unfold.
"Uh…" Luka let out a slow breath, then gave a lazy, half-hearted bow.
"My name? Luka Rein Junker."
The lead noble blinked. "Who…?" His brow furrowed.
"Ouch, my heart..." Luka clutched his chest as if he'd just been shot, then dramatically wiped away a nonexistent tear.
"Truly tragic—for someone of your status to be so ignorant of a noble family. Seems like your education was lacking."
"…" The lead noble grounded his teeth. A small vein appeared on his forehead.
"What did you just say…?"
Hearing him grow angrier by the second, the other two nobles both gulped.
They knew all too well how short his fuse was—and once he snapped, there was no stopping him.
So, they wisely kept their mouths shut.
"Ah~ did you not hear me?" Luka put on a mockingly confused expression, barely holding back a laugh.
"Or perhaps… you're deaf as well?"
"You…" Just as the lead noble was about to throw a punch, the tension in the air thick with impending violence, a sudden voice was heard.
"What are you all doing?"
Luka's lips curled into a small, knowing smile. 'Perfect. About time she showed up…'
He turned his head, following the gaze of the crowd.
Slowly, a young woman walked forward.
She had long, flowing blonde hair that shimmered like sunlight, and her light blue eyes held a cool, regal depth.
Her dress, a striking shade of blue, clung elegantly to her figure, the fabric flowing like water.
Behind her, several maids trailed closely, and a little further back, a group of knights stood, their armor gleaming.
The crowd parted in silent awe, as if the very air itself had bowed in reverence.
One by one, every person sank to their knees, their heads lowered in unwavering respect.
Arthur and the three nobles followed...
However, Luka stayed put.
He remained standing, arms crossed, his black eyes gleaming with amusement.
He knew exactly who this was. 'Second Princess Charlotte Amara Eternity….'
Charlotte's gaze swept across, and for a brief moment, everyone's posture stiffened under her stare.
"Is there a problem here?" she asked.
The lead noble, his anger still simmering, hesitated before straightening up.
He took a deep breath, trying to regain some semblance of control.
"N-no, Your Highness," he stammered, "we—…"
"Your Highness, these so-called nobles were robbing a helpless commoner," Luka interrupted, his face hardening with a righteous, unwavering expression.
'With this, I can steal the main character's opportunity to converse with the Second Princess and sever any chance of this connection ever forming.'
