Logan glanced at Freya's stats. She still needed five more levels before she could advance.
Freya, who had clearly noticed his attention, gave him a sharp glare for a few seconds before letting out a sigh.
"Guess there's no hiding secrets from you," she muttered. "I already said sorry—to you and the others. I'm not saying it wasn't my fault… but if the great spirits didn't strip me of my powers, that means I didn't fully commit to what the demons wanted."
Logan nodded. "True. I considered that possibility. That's why you're still here—and not dead."
Freya looked away at that, biting her lip.
"Relax," Logan added. "You've changed. I can feel it. So let's just start over."
He took a seat on a nearby bench, watching as the crowd gathered around his creatures. Children and adults alike offered them meats and vegetables with cautious excitement. The only one not being fed was Gaia, who simply absorbed what he needed through his roots without fuss.
Murk, on the other hand, was happily accepting all manner of scraps—trash, leftover food, anything organic. The sludge creature devoured everything eagerly. Logan couldn't help but smirk as he watched it struggle to keep its stench contained, trembling ever so slightly but holding firm.
It wanted to be fed like Wyver and Stormwing—and it was doing its best to behave.
Turning his gaze back to Freya, Logan tilted his head.
"So, how's your class doing? I doubt your team was the only one to enter the dungeon."
"Well, after Owen, Charlotte, Jin, and Victor hit level 80 and left to do their quests, the pace slowed down," Freya said, placing her hands on her cheeks as she looked out at the crowd. "We're still training, just… not as fast. Once the strong ones finish and come back, things should speed up again—maybe even double."
She smiled faintly, her tone softening. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"Charlotte said she'd help me level once she finished her quest. Part of it even involves you, apparently. She mentioned needing to hunt specific creatures to craft her ideal armor and sword—and after that, she'd need you to bless them or something."
"Oh yeah… she did mention that," Logan muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'll check in with her in a few days."
His gaze shifted slightly. "How about Ms. Claire? I heard she reached level 80 too. What's she up to?"
"She went to the Pearl Isles with Lady Elara," Freya replied, giving a casual shrug. "She's going to change jobs over there. Something about leading a lot of people with her voice for her quest. Sounded pretty complicated."
"I guess we all have it rough," Logan said, exhaling as he leaned back slightly. "You know how long I've been stuck on this quest… and even now, it might take another month to finish. Hopefully less. I want to wrap it up so we can move on to the real battle."
He was grateful, at least, to have someone to talk to.
Freya lowered her gaze. "At least you have power... I don't think I can do anything in this world, not on my own," she murmured. "I'm not smart like Marie. I'm not useful like Lisa. I have no power…"
Logan looked at her seriously.
"You should know by now—we all bring something to the table. We're balanced in different ways," he said, voice steady. "Look at Lisa. She's a fighter now. She used to struggle with mana control—and now she will be in the front line fighting with a spear."
He paused, giving Freya a moment to absorb that.
"Just work hard. Focus. You might get what you want too," he added. "For now, go see Ruben. Get the best armor and weapons you can use. We need everyone to play their part."
He offered her a faint smirk.
Soon, Logan and Freya spotted Yui, her brother Ren, and Darin approaching from the distance. All three looked exhausted—barely upright, as if they might collapse at any moment.
"You done with your business?" Logan called out. "I'm guessing you'll be heading back now, right?"
"Yes," Ren replied, panting lightly. "We were about to activate the teleportation array. Will you be joining us?"
Darin, meanwhile, had already wandered off toward Gaia, examining the ent with growing curiosity.
"I will," Logan said, nodding. "Actually, I was just about to ask if you wanted to come with me. I'm heading back with my creatures anyway."
The group exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
"Alright then," Logan said with a light grin. "I guess I'll be doing one last magic trick before we go."
He extended his hand, calling his three main beasts toward him—Murk, Stormwing, and Wyver gathering near without hesitation. As they assembled, Logan glanced at the towering ent, briefly wondering if Gaia would walk home… or if he should just send him back with a portal.
Before he could decide, Darin stepped forward.
"Logan," he said, a bit hesitant but clearly serious, "if I may… could I return to the Earthen Temple with this creature? I'd like to study him. As you know, I'm an earth mage, and I just hit level 80. My quest requires me to deepen my understanding of earth magic—and he might be the key."
"Well sure, I bet the temple will be a great place for you to get more insight, also give Ramos some crystals from my part." Logan handed Darin a bag he had readied earlier but decided not to visit the annoying ferret in the morning.
"Sure thing, Logan, thanks, well I will be heading off then, see you three later, tell me if you need any help tomorrow." Darin waved as he and Gaia began walking out the city.
