Chapter 1239: Beautiful in white

Two weeks later...

The sun was bright, but its rays were warm and soothing. The scent of flowers lingered in the air as the mellow music brought harmony to the atmosphere. Everyone donned a white theme, matching the decorations and the lush green landscape.

Smiles could be seen at every angle, their eyes filled with delight as they looked in the same direction.

Standing in the white arch adorned with vines and flowers was the bride, Hera.

She looked beautiful in her long, sparkly white wedding dress. Her hair was tied neatly in a low bun where her veil was attached. She had light makeup yet, she was incomparably beautiful.

Hera fluttered her eyelashes ever so tenderly, scanning the people standing and looking in her direction. Most of their guests were Reapers, some from the Secret Society, and then Dominic’s family. Her face softened and somehow, her heart felt really warm, as if it was going to melt any moment.

"Don’t cry yet."

Suddenly, Bear’s playful and low voice caressed her ears. His eyes creased a little as he stood beside her.

Hera sniffed and nodded, letting go of her bouquet to hook an arm around his. She forced a smile, telling herself this was a happy occasion. But when she looked on her other side, all she saw was Ram already wiping his eyes with a handkerchief.

"I just told her..." Bear sighed, making Hera chuckle.

She hooked her other arm with Ram and humored, "He earned this spot. He can cry all he wants, but Wolf is still going to watch this while chewing his handkerchief."

Ram couldn’t help but broke out in laughter in the middle of his cries. "Haha. I’m sorry." He sniffed hard and lifted his swollen eyes at her.

His injuries from the boxing fight almost healed up, but one could still see the cut on his forehead and brow. He smiled warmly and assessed Hera thoroughly. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"You’re so beautiful," he said, nodding at her reassuringly.

Hera pursed her lips and nodded. And with her arms hooked around Bear and Ram, they walked her down the aisle slowly.

The moment they took a step forward, the orchestra started playing a mellow sound.

Ram and Bear matched her pace, keeping their chins high as they treasured this moment when they could finally walk her down the aisle. They remained steady and still, despite feeling her arms shaking.

Hera, on the other hand, kept her gaze on the person waiting for her at the altar.

Dominic smiled lovingly at her as if she was all he could see. The more he stared and the more he anticipated her to reach him, his tears started falling from his eyes.

She was so beautiful.

What did he really do to deserve her?

Axel, who was behind him, couldn’t help but bawl his eyes out. It was almost as though he was the groom and not the best man. Sebastian also stood by the groom, watching his mother beautifully make the flowers she walked past bloom.

Before Hera could even reach the small altar, her vision was already blurred with tears. She wiped her tears, carefully not to smudge her makeup. Still, she forced a smile. When they reached their destination, Bear and Ram unhook their arms and faced her.

"Congratulations, Hera," Bear expressed from the bottom of his heart, cupping her face as he placed a kiss on her forehead. When he drew his head back, a thin layer of tears coated his eyes.

He added with a smile and tears rolling down his cheek. "I am very happy for you."

Hera pursed her lips and she could only nod, knowing if she said another word, she would be a wreck. She then faced Ram, who was smiling at her so gently.

Ram cupped her cheeks, and his eyes scanned every pore of her face. His nostrils went big and small as he tried to hold back his cries.

"You... are really getting married." His voice cracked, making her tears overflow more. "Oh, thank God I was able to witness this."

Instead of planting a kiss on her forehead, Ram embraced her tightly. Ram thought they shouldn’t hasten the wedding preparation just because he was dying. But right now, he would selfishly thank them for doing it as early as they could.

Despite the twists and turns, the little girl, who always dreamt of walking down the aisle to marry the man of her life, had finally come true.

"I’m sorry." Ram cleared his throat and let her go, squeezing her shoulders one last time before he cast Bear a look.

Both men smoothly went to the first row, joining Wolf, who had been chewing the end of his handkerchief. Wolf felt all kinds of emotions aside from jealousy.

Standing all alone in the middle, Hera slowly lifted her eyes. The moment she did, Dominic was already standing in front of her. Their lips curled up, but at the same time, tears remained in their eyes.

Dominic wordlessly handed his hand, and she clasped it slowly.

"I might’ve saved the world in my previous life to have such a stunning wife," he whispered to her as he ushered her to the altar.

Hera glanced at him and smiled. "You’ve hit the jackpot."

"That’s more like an understatement." He squeezed her hand and wiped his tears for the last time before they faced the person who would facilitate the wedding.

Mr. Ebonhart.

As Mr. Ebonhart started the ceremony, Tiger was quietly whimpering. Ivy, who was beside him, patted his broad back and smiled at him.

It wasn’t a funeral, but the majority were just crying from the moment they saw Hera walk down the aisle until now. Since most guests were the Reapers — or newly recruited ones like Deborah and Hunter — they knew what Hera had gone through.

Especially those who were with her for a long time; those who watched her grow up, and those who grew up with her.

Hence, this wedding held a deeper meaning in their heart.

"My sister..." Tiger was almost choking, looking up at Hera with a forced smile. "... never wanted to be the head of the Reapers. This is what she had always wanted and I... I am just so happy for her."

Ivy’s face softened, leaning her side against his side to console him.

Hera was the Reapers’ world because they’ve always thought Hera never had the choice, but to make the Reapers her only world. But now, she could finally have a new one; a world that was something she just dreamed of having as a little girl, a dream she set her goal as a teen, and a dream she only longed for as an adult.

Now, she broke free from the chains that always dragged her back to the hell where she always thought she belonged.
