Chapter 1234: Came to pick you up
[Zhu Old Residence]
Sebastian stood on his toe as he gazed out of the window. His little hands clamped tightly on the windowsill, stretching his neck to see if cars were approaching the old residence. His father called him last night, telling him he would come home and pick him up.
"Little Master." Princess sighed and decided to approach the boy. Sebastian had been waiting by the window since afternoon, but only now was he looking out of the window.
"Uncle Princess, do you think something happened?" Sebastian looked back at Princess with a dejected frown.
Princess pursed her lips and went closer, squatting down to his side. "There’s probably a delay in their flight, but I’m sure they’re alright. They’re probably on their way here."
"But what if..." he paused and looked at her with eyes sparkling with worry.
"There’s no what if." Princess shook her head with a subtle smile. "Your father called, and that means everything is already settled."
Sebastian bit his tongue, still unable to get rid of his worry.
His father left and, before he did, he promised Sebastian to return home as soon as he could. Bear, Axel, and Ivy went with him. Therefore, Sebastian shouldn’t be worried. Even so, there was one thing he wanted to know.
"How about we eat some snacks while waiting? It’ll help us kill some time." Princess suggested gently. "Who knows? Once we finish, they’ll be here."
Doubt flickered across his doe eyes but he nodded. freēnovelkiss.com
Having said that, Princess straightened her limbs and held her hand to him. Sebastian clasped her hand and followed her to eat snacks. But just before they could leave the receiving area, Sebastian heard some engine approaching.
He stopped, and without any hesitation, he let go of Princess’s hand to run back to the window. He stretched his toes and surely, he caught multiple cars stopping in the driveway.
"They’re here!" he exclaimed excitedly, not wasting a breath as he rushed out of the front door.

Inside one of the cars, Hera couldn’t help but hold her breath as soon as she saw the old residence. Dominic told her the children had to stay in the old residence for more security.
"Nervous now?" as if teasing her, Dominic couldn’t help but smile.
Hera looked at him and nodded. "The last time I was here, I beat up someone."
He chuckled. "Everything will be fine, darling." He reached out for her hand and nodded at her reassuringly.
"I know that." A bitter smile appeared on her face. "But the last time I met Sebastian with this face... I was a little... harsh. Even during that call, I..."
Hera let out a deep exhale, her mind going wild uncontrollably.
Watching her like this, Dominic didn’t feel like trying to console her. It may be a little harsh, but he found it interesting. If Hera was thrown into a lion’s den, she would devour all of them and come out of it with a lion’s head as a souvenir. However, now, she was genuinely nervous at the thought of meeting their children.
He wanted her to feel those emotions. Call it his petty revenge for worrying him all the time and for always acting like she had unlimited lives.
Soon, the cars stopped in front of the residence’s front porch.
"Ready?" he announced, making her frown as she looked at him.
"You’re enjoying this, are you?"
Dominic bit his tongue and said in a small voice. "No."
"Yes, you do." Hera shook her head, looking back at him as if asking for help. "You got my back, right?"
"Of course." He nodded. "Had I ever not had your back?"
"Just making sure." Hera huffed one last time and a look of determination replaced her nervousness. "I’m ready!"
Dominic smiled and got out of the car. Knowing his wife would get out of the backseat all on her own, he quickly jogged to the other side. Sure enough, the moment he reached it, Hera already opened the door.
She halted when a hand suddenly appeared in front of her.
Looking up, her lips curled up. She grasped his hand, feeling much more ladylike at this point because none of the reapers had done this. Only Dominic was gentlemanly enough to treat her like a real lady.
"I already called Mom, Dad, and Grandma, so we’re meeting them tonight as well," he said, in case he forgot to tell her.
"I know you’d do that." Hera winked at him. "Let’s go?"
"Mhm."
Having said that, the two turned to head to the front porch. But the moment they did, they stopped.
There, standing right outside the door, was the little Sebastian. His brows slowly rose as his eyes looked rounder and more adorable. His expression was a mix of everything and it was hard to tell whether he was about to run away or cry.
When his eyes landed on Hera, Hera’s breath hitched. All her nervousness magically disappeared, replaced with longing for his little warmth.
"Basti..." she whispered and the moment she took a step, Sebastian went running in her direction. "Oh, baby."
Hera let go of Dominic, jogging her way to Sebastian to meet him halfway. When she slowly went down to her knees, she spread her arm where Sebastian leaped into her embrace.
"Mommy!" Sebastian locked his arms around her neck and buried his face in her shoulder.
Hera smiled as tears rolled down her cheek, embracing him tight. His body was little, but his warmth enveloped her so quickly. The two of them quietly held each other until Hera drew her head back. She looked at him and cupped his soft cheek.
"I came..." her lips curled up as tears continued to form in the corner of her eyes. "... I came to pick you up, as promised. I’m sorry it took me so long."
Sebastian chewed his bottom lips and nodded. He wanted to tell her the wait wasn’t that long, and that she returned right on time. However, he couldn’t. Instead, he leaned closer and wrapped his arms around her as if he wouldn’t let her go any moment.
Dominic watched the two of them with a satisfied smile. He knew Hera’s nervousness was futile because their son was just waiting for her all this time. He didn’t ruin their moment, though. Hence, he remained on the sideline with a smile.
It was the same for Princess. She stayed on the sidelines and watched Hera reunite with her son.
Meanwhile, Ivy, Axel, and Tiger, who were also in the driveway, watched this unfold.
"No kidding?" Ivy’s mouth fell open as she turned to her right where Tiger stood and next to him was Axel.
Tiger and Axel shrugged.
She set her eyes back to Hera and Sebastian once more, only to look at the two men beside her again. "Seriously?"
Tiger and Axel glanced at each other because that had been Ivy’s question since explaining the situation to her. Ivy was still in disbelief as she shifted her eyes back to the family of three.
"Wow..." she blurted out under her breath. "So, Heaven... that Heaven... is Hera all along?"
Tiger and Axel nodded in unison, only to hear Ivy say, "Wow, Unbelievable," in a disbelief tone for the umpteenth time.
