Chapter 1218: You do not have to thank me for it

The battle on Oxley Island took time to put an end. After all, the people who were fighting for Florence couldn’t just back down. It took Dominic’s ’friends’, Lukas’s soldiers, and Interpol to seize every single one of them.

The Reapers didn’t join any longer as they also inflicted a huge blow, being sent out to different families for a mission. Although the collateral damages were smaller than expected, the Reapers still prioritized the memorial of their friends.

As this was all happening, everyone accepted Lukas’ offer of shelter and security.

Right now, even if Florence had already fallen, they still had to make sure no one would come and avenge her.

The Silver’s Domain was also completed with an advanced medical facility, a wide range of accommodations, and tight security. It was the perfect place for everyone to take some time off while everything was being settled down.

"How’s her situation?" Lukas asked the doctor, who was looking after Hera. With him were Elliot and Moose.

"Right now, she’s out of harm," the doctor reassured them. "However, she still needs a lot of rest. Also, we needed to conduct tests to make sure. The patient hit her head and our initial finding is that she has a crack in her skull. Although we already checked if there’s any internal bleeding, it’s best if she’s well rested..."

The doctor gave them every little detail they might want to know. In all honestly, he wanted to add his comment on how tough the patient was. However, he knew it wasn’t necessary. It was already obvious the patient was one hell of a fighter.

"That’s good." Elliot heaved a sigh of relief, sneaking up a glance at Moose, whose expression was grim.

"Are you sure she’ll be okay?" Moose asked with a little bit of doubt in his tone. "I want to see her chart."

"Mr. M, he is the best doctor —"

Moose cast Lukas a ruthless glare and said, "I don’t care if he is the best in the universe. The people who looked after her when she fell ill were also the best, but it turns out they were under Dragon’s paycheck."

Lukas and the doctor stared at each other while Elliot couldn’t comment on that. He heard about that matter. Hence, he understood Moose’s lack of trust.

"Of course," the doctor nodded with an understanding tone. "I can show you the chart. If you want to, you can oversee the test we’re going to do with the patient."

"I will, even if you don’t ask."

The doctor smiled helplessly while Lukas smiled back at him.

"Thank you for your hard work, Doctor," said Lukas to the professional. "Please help Mr. M with everything you can to reassure him Hera Cruel is in good hands."

"Yes." The doctor bowed slightly. "I will be back later. If there’s anything, I’ll reach out to Doctor Moose."

Moose clicked his tongue, still not appeased by the understanding he was receiving from the doctor and Lukas.

At the same time, Axel came out of the room next to Hera.

"How’s Hera?" he asked as soon as he saw the three (Lukas, Elliot, and Moose) idling in the hallway.

"She’s fine, but still needs to rest. How about Minister Zhu?" Lukas returned. "Had he regained consciousness?"

Axel nodded. "He already did, but I told him to rest. He was sedated, so he’ll probably sleep through the night."

"That’s good to hear." Lukas sighed in relief, only to see Axel walk away from his brother’s ward. "Where are you headed, CEO Zhu?"

"I need to check on Bear." Axel just glanced over his shoulder. "I heard what happened to them inside. He might be a beast, but even a beast gets injured."

With that being said, Axel didn’t stop or look back at them.

The three stared at Axel’s back with Moose not caring much. Moose approached the stainless bench right outside Hera’s room to guard her. He didn’t have good experience in the hospital; the last time he stayed in a hospital so long was traumatic.

Looking at him, Elliot and Lukas didn’t say anything as they exchanged looks. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Are you going to stay here until she wakes up, Mr. President?" Lukas asked quietly to Elliot.

Elliot nodded. "I’ve already put everything in place. So, I have time to wait until Hera regains consciousness. I also have to discuss some matters with her."

"Is this the matter of making her take responsibility for the law?" the gentleness in Lukas’s expression shifted into sharpness. "I understand the Interpol and the Reapers are on a truce. However, Hera Cruel is a big part of this change in the Secret Society. As our benefactor, I can’t let you arrest her. At least, not in my territory."

"Easy." Elliot raised his hand to calm the man down before Lukas decided to ask his men to escort him out. "If arresting her is my ultimate goal, I would’ve done it during the battle."

"Then, may I know what it is?"

"Unfortunately, it is a private matter only Hera and I would need to talk about." Elliot was gentle but kept an adamant stand. "If she is willing to share it with you or with anyone, I don’t mind. But it won’t definitely come from me. Moreover, Hera Cruel and Dominic Zhu had some important matters to discuss. I want this matter to end, if not good, but a decent end."

Lukas furrowed his brows upon hearing Elliot’s last sentence. Now that he thought about it, he did hear that Hera and Dominic had some matters to settle. Although it didn’t seem like they were out to kill each other, from what Lukas saw in things, there was a misunderstanding between Hera and Dominic.

Dominic looked quite incensed when Hera was mentioned.

So he nodded. "I agree with you on that. Very well. I’ll arrange it so we can have peaceful terms."

Pleased, Elliot offered his hand to Lukas. "Thank you."

"You do not have to thank me for it, though I appreciate your wide understanding of the big picture," Lukas returned with a smile, squeezing Elliot’s hand tightly.

Meanwhile, Moose looked at the two with a weird look.

’What the hell are these guys talking about?’ wondered Moose, his face contorting. However, he didn’t dwell on it, as he didn’t think it was necessary to correct their misunderstanding. ’It’s better if something is keeping them on the edge until she recovers. I still don’t trust them, after all.’

With that thought in mind, Moose didn’t dwell on Elliot and Lukas’ misunderstanding of Hera and Dominic’s relationship.
