I Received System to Become Dragonborn-Chapter 790: Arriving At Human Kingdom
As soon as the rift opened, Eccar stepped through and appeared on the other side. His feet landed on a smooth stone floor that felt cold to the touch. When he looked around, he saw a large room with white walls.
There were many shelves, some filled to the brim with books and scrolls, to the point that a few had fallen onto the floor. Several chests sat open on the ground, revealing contents that seemed to hold high magical value. Yet everything was scattered carelessly, as if no one had bothered to tidy up.
In front of him stood a man in his forties or fifties, with a firm expression and a beard that reached his chest.
It had become difficult for Eccar to judge people's ages these days. Living among the Elves, who looked like they were in their twenties but were actually several centuries old, had skewed his perception.
"Welcome to my humble abode, my friend" Adrius said, spreading his arms wide in greeting.
Eccar nodded with a smile. "Nice place you've got here, Adrius," he said. "This place almost feels like Saeldir's chamber. Do all Archmages leave their chambers in this kind of state?"
"Ah, well. This might look messy, but believe me, everything here is well-organized," Adrius replied. "So, what's going on? If this is serious, I need to prepare right away."
His tone immediately turned serious. He didn't like wasting time when it came to warnings from Dragonborn. The news they brought was usually about the most dangerous things that could happen, so he needed to know as soon as possible.
"Erend said that a forest god is about to awaken. The place is in a kingdom called Qomore," Eccar replied. His tone was casual as he walked around, observing Adrius's chamber.
Adrius furrowed his brow. Just as he thought, this was serious.
"Qomore is close to our kingdom. But where exactly is this happening?" Adrius asked. "And what exactly is this forest god? Can you give me more details?"
"Honestly, we don't know either. Erend just said a forest god will awaken. That's all he knows. We still need to investigate it," Eccar replied. "I think you'll find out soon. You know, Erend's power is connected to fate, so maybe you'll receive a sign or something related to that forest god soon."
Adrius fell silent for a moment, his brow furrowed in thought.
"A power connected to fate… what an incredible power you have, Dragonborn…" Adrius said in a thoughtful, almost dreamy tone. He couldn't imagine someone truly holding a power like that.
He could do a little bit of divination, but at best, it only showed possibilities, not exactly what would happen next in the weaving of fate's threads.
But Erend could see what would happen next in the string of fate. That was one of his amazing powers, beyond his strength and Magic ability.
"Enough of that. Don't think too hard about it. Why don't you give me a tour of your kingdom? This is my first time visiting a human kingdom," Eccar said, his tone still calm and casual. He wasn't too worried and was ready to begin the investigation. The information would come when the time was right, just like it always had before.

Adrius smiled and let out a breath. Seeing Eccar's attitude made him feel more at ease too. "Alright. Come on. I'll give you the tour of this kingdom."
They descended the spiral stairs that wound down from Adrius's chamber, the sound of their footsteps echoing faintly against the stone walls.
The tower, standing adjacent to the King's Palace, offered narrow, vertical views of the kingdom beyond through arched windows. The higher they went down, the more of the realm's heartbeat could be heard. Eccar can hear voices, movement, the rhythm of a city alive with purpose.
Midway down, they passed a pair of guards stationed at a wide landing. Both were human, clad in polished armor marked with the crest of the royal house. They stood straight, their expressions neutral and stern as always, until they saw Eccar.
Their gazes lingered. It wasn't every day that someone stepped out of the Archmage's tower, especially not in finely woven Elven attire. His posture looks calm and confident and bore the dignity of a powerful being when he wearing Elven attire, but his physical build clearly marked him as human. It was a contradiction that unsettled their trained instincts.
The taller of the two guards narrowed his eyes but didn't speak.
Adrius, catching the moment of hesitation, gave them a passing glance and said, "Return to your post. He's a friend of mine."
The soldiers nodded stiffly, but curiosity still lingered in their eyes as the two passed by. Guests of the Archmage were rare, and ones who walked out from the chamber while unannounced and draped in foreign elegance, were rarer.
Once they exited the tower and stepped into the open courtyard that separated the palace complex from the city below, Eccar paused for a moment.
His eyes took in the world spread beneath him.
It was vastly different from the Elf Palace. Where the Elves shaped their cities to blend with nature and the walls were mostly made with white marbles without much variations, the human kingdom stood proudly on stone, steel, and woods.
Angular rooftops stretched across layered streets. Flags flapped above narrow alleyways. The scent of iron and baked bread floated in the air. Bells chimed from a nearby watchtower as merchants shouted in the distance, calling out prices for fresh goods and Magical trinkets.
People moved with their own purpose, many of them armored, others in robes, and some carrying strange tools that shimmered faintly with Magical traces.
It was a world that balanced might and invention, a place where Magic was wielded not with reverence as the Elves did, but with bold practicality to be used everyday in even mundane tasks.
Eccar smiled faintly, absorbing the contrast. "So this is the human kingdom," he murmured.
Adrius, standing beside him with his hands behind his back, let out a short chuckle.
"Not as elegant as the Elves, I imagine. But we humans have a different kind of rhythm. You'll feel it soon."
"I already do," Eccar said, his voice calm but attentive. His gaze drifted to the streets below where children chased each other past a pair of knights, and where a tinker was demonstrating a floating lantern to a fascinated crowd. "This actually looks better."
They continue their march through the city.
