56 -56 Brief Welcome Ceremony_1

Behind the magnificent Hua Gate is an even more grand hall.

Zheng Qing looked around, holding his breath.

This is a colossal hall.

It was hard to describe with specific concepts; Zheng Qing could only feel that this hall was enormous.

There were no structures in the center of the hall, leaving it vast and open.

The iron-grey floor looked sturdy and beautiful, giving people a sense of assurance.

Intersecting silver lines were embedded across the floor, occasionally decorated with hollowed-out characters, forming a magnificent and mysterious pattern.

This pattern looked like a magical formation, which Zheng Qing scrutinized carefully.

Above the hall, it was black, like the lonely night sky.

Large balls of light floated leisurely along mysterious trajectories, casting a gentle starlight over the hall.

Interspersed with the ethereal music that seemed to come from nowhere, it accentuated the transcendental aura of this place.

Hundreds of towering, dark pillars stood formidably around the hall, with a lifelike and ferocious giant beast coiled around each pillar.

Grey stone barriers connected these gigantic pillars.

On the walls behind the barriers, there were occasional arches, each with its unique style.

These arches sat there quietly.

The mottled marks on the doors told stories of their long history and abundant experiences.

Between the arches on the walls, there were large scroll paintings.

Zheng Qing, following the stream of people, turned right at the entrance, strolling along the corridor, looking at the murals pieced together.

They depicted the history of wizards.

Most of the murals on the first floor were about the history of wizards interacting with ordinary humans:

Starting from the primitive men, wizards perceived the world and saved all beings;

Later, as the world of commoners developed, their attitudes towards wizards varied:

Some were panicked, avoiding wizards like deadly snakes, and attacked in anger;

Others admired them, worshiped them like gods, and bowed before them;

Still others were curious, treating wizards with admiration, leading to enjoyable conversations.

Then the wizards hid away, experiencing ups and downs in the vast world, causing people to sigh and lament; Interspersed among their tales were great wizards casting spells, rescuing people, slaying ferocious beasts, resisting the force of nature.

Their glorious history was continuous and awe-inspiring.

At the end of the hall, the murals disappeared into the stairs leading to the second floor.

Zheng Qing, unsatisfied, poked his head towards the shadowy staircase, and a cold breeze swept past his front.

He shivered and promptly pulled back his head.

The new students, who were scattered around after the mural tour, gathered in a circle between the pillars on the first floor of the walkway.

Zheng Qing noticed that at this point, the students of the four academies were mingled together, no longer divided as they had been before.

Only Xiaoxiao and Li Meng were left wearing red robes beside him.

The older students, the veterans, appeared out of nowhere on the second, third, and even higher walkways.

They stood behind the railings in silence, looking respectfully at the center of the hall.

“Novices, gather at the center of the hall,” A loud voice echoed through the hall.

A tall, silver-haired wizard stood silent in the center of the hall, clutching his law book.

A chubby black-robed wizard stood next to him, flipping through his law book while sweating profusely, repeating loudly, “Novices, gather in front of me!

You don’t need to line up by academy!

Just come together!”

The novices entered the hall hesitantly.

The supercilious gaze of the older students from high above and the silent gaze of the silver-haired wizard filled them with pressure, making them somewhat uncomfortable.

The large balls of light at the top of the hall seemed to sense a mysterious call and began to converge in the center along their trajectories.

The more the spheres of light gathered, the more the center of the hall seemed to sink into daylight.

The new students stood nervously in broad daylight.

The entire hall was silent.

The silver-haired old man slowly spoke:

“You can call me Professor Charles.

Given today’s special circumstances, you are allowed to be exempt from some of the ceremonies.

The freshmen’s orientation will be delayed.

Later, your mentoring professors will inform you.

You can make a simple tour of the campus and rest as soon as possible.”

He paused for a moment, his gaze sliding over the new students standing in front of him, seemingly waiting for different opinions.

The hall was quiet, and Zheng Qing felt that a few people nearby even held their breath.

The old man kindly nodded his head and continued:

“Next, I have several expectations regarding your conduct at school.”

“First, the school prohibits all forms of violence, whether physical or mental.

So, you should master more ways to solve problems other than through violent conflict.

Whoever pulls out a law book on others means warning from the school and academic credit deductions.”

“Second, your residency in school has been properly arranged, and other life common sense will be taught by second-year veterans.

Later, the veterans will guide you to further understand the school.”

Professor Charles held out his index finger, pointing to the higher-grade students on the second floor.

“Finally, you must understand that the start of college life means the start of your independent survival.

I hope each of you can take responsibility for your actions and uphold the honor of the school, your college, and yourself.

The school has already learned about what happened on the special plane today.

I personally highly appreciate the exemplary behavior of some of the new students in the dining hall.”

Speaking of this, Professor Charles’ gaze once again swept over the new students, deliberately pausing several times.

Zheng Qing noticed that Xiao Xiao next to him seemed to be busily straightening his chest and comporting himself, but his short stature somewhat undermined his efforts.

He couldn’t help but chuckle quietly.

Professor Charles nodded slightly and continued to speak slowly:

“Your animal companions have a special area provided by the school.

I don’t want to hear professors or school staff complaining about them running into classrooms, dormitories, or even laboratories without permission.”

“Your daily essentials will be settled one by one with the help of the veterans.

I also don’t want new students to be unclear about how to use their own ID cards after school starts.”

“Mountains of books lead the way, oceans of learning have no end.”

“From here, begin your independent, glorious, and challenging college life!”

Having briefly reiterated, Professor Charles then drifted away, leaving only a chubby male wizard accompanying the bewildered new arrivals.

“This Professor Charles seems very impressive,” Zheng Qing murmured to Xiao Xiao.

“First chair of the University Professors Joint Meeting, Associate Dean of Alpha College, Great Wizard Charles,” Xiao Xiao pondered with a frown, “But according to the general process, this freshmen orientation should be hosted by one of the two vice-principals.”

“Didn’t the curly-haired dog on the plane say that there is some big event going on at the university recently?” Li Meng waved her hand nonchalantly, “Maybe those bigshots are busy with it.”

Xiao Xiao seemed lost in thought.

Zheng Qing looked up.

The three or four layers of veterans around the hall all followed Professor Charles’ exit and left one after another.

They argued heatedly in low voices, disappearing through the archways in the corridors.

On the other hand, some veterans downstairs were interspersed among the new students in the hall.

Zheng Qing understood that they must have been the freshmen mentors that Professor Charles had just mentioned.

The new students plunged back into a buzz of chatter.

The chubby black-robed male wizard flipped through the roll book, distributing tasks loudly.

Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao were assigned to a veteran with a ponytail.

Li Meng, on the other hand, was taken away by a tall girl.

Before leaving, she reluctantly petted Poseidon for a while and dressed it in a light blue waistcoat – this made the originally endearing fox look stupid.

Zheng Qing decided that as soon as this girl disappeared from view, he would immediately take off the waistcoat from Poseidon.
