Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 95: Traversing the Mist
Chapter 95: Traversing the Mist
The whole mountain was covered in trees, so he could really see now where the mist started. He thought of flying so he could get to the top quickly.
The moment he started levitating, he heard Yin Ni’s voice again.
"You won’t be able to control your spirit qi inside that chaotic mist. If you want to fall like a rock, go ahead."
Jiang Hao sighed but didn’t come down. At least he would fly until the mist. He flew up and started moving towards the mist barrier. Once he reached it, he landed on the ground.
In front of him was the barrier of the mist. There was not a single thing visible inside the mist. He didn’t hesitate now that he had come this far and already decided to see it through.
He took his first step and entered the mist. Once inside, he could see only blurry outlines of the trees. One more thing he noticed was that his qi was really behaving erratically, even inside his body.
He was sure that he couldn’t even use his own techniques. His blood qi was also erratic. Once he took another step, he found that this single step made him feel like a mortal.
Although he knew that his strength was there, it felt like he was moving against something, and he had to use more strength to move.
Five minutes passed without any change. The mist still didn’t get darker or lighter. It was consistent throughout his journey.
Twenty minutes passed and the situation was similar. He didn’t know if he was moving in a straight direction or not.
He wondered if Senior Yin Ni could see through it or not. Maybe she couldn’t either, or she might have helped him move towards the peak.
An hour passed. The mountain was really quite big. If he had to estimate, then a mortal might take about twelve to thirteen hours to climb it.
Since he was moving at the same speed, he might take the same time.
Five hours passed. Nothing changed. Everything was similar. The only thing that was a little worrying was that he really didn’t know how high he had reached.
Maybe he was just moving in circles. For him, although he was going straight and felt like he was definitely climbing up, since his senses were skewed, he might just be hallucinating.
"Senior, am I on the right path?"
He wasn’t sure if she could see through the mist or not. Maybe her senses were messed up too, but there was no harm in asking.
"That’s what you are worried about? Tell me, how much time has passed?"
Jiang Hao was surprised by that question but still answered.
"About five hours."
"Well... only five minutes have passed, and you have walked up to only a hundred meters till now. Ah, don’t worry, you have walked straight till now, so you shouldn’t be worried about moving on the wrong path. That person doesn’t seemed to mind you coming up."
He was stunned when he heard that.
"The reason you weren’t able to tell the time correctly is because in this chaotic mist, even time and space are skewed. This is the reason I wasn’t able to see through this barrier before.
Even now I can’t see the peak, but it doesn’t matter. We will meet them eventually. So it depends upon your will if you can climb this mountain or not. If you falter and take even a single step back, then you might reach the bottom in one step.
This mountain is about four thousand meters high. With your speed, you will take about some hours to reach the top—well, some hours for me. To you, it will be more than a week."
Jiang Hao nodded. It didn’t matter to him. A week of climbing wasn’t enough to falter his will, since he had decided to climb he will see through it. He kept walking.
Hours passed by. They gradually converted into days. Jiang Hao kept moving. After four days, he finally felt exhaustion. He didn’t know if it was real or not—he couldn’t really trust his own condition right now.
He didn’t slow down and moved with the same speed. One thing was quite amazing—although he was breathing inside this mist, it wasn’t going inside his body.
He knew that because his physique would have definitely reacted to it, but nothing of that sort happened.
Seven days passed. He kept moving in his exhausted state. He knew that he was quite close to reaching the peak of this mountain.
On the eighth day, he finally reached the top of the peak. He didn’t need Yin Ni to remind him, as the slope he was walking on before had disappeared quietly.
Jiang Hao was still not out of the mist, so he walked some more. Since distance was skewed, he still wasn’t out of the mist.
"Just three more steps and you will be out of that mist."
Jiang Hao sighed in relief. Although he could continue walking for a month and it wouldn’t break his will, it had also become quite boring as nothing was changing in his surroundings. For the whole week, he had seen only mist and some blurry outlines of the trees, which kept passing him, but not a single one came in his way.
With how dense the trees were on the mountain, it was surprising that he didn’t bump into even a single tree. Well, whatever—finally he would be out of it. It was time to see what fate had decided for him.
He wondered how he would have felt if he had come to this mountain naturally without knowing anything about fate. How would he have reacted to it? Because for him, it would have felt like everything was natural and his own decision.
He really couldn’t guess it, but since he already knew about fate, he also couldn’t feel it as his own decision.
How was this different from being forced to live in the forbidden zone? Although he didn’t mind living in the forbidden zone, as he preferred it more, the decision to live in it was also because someone forced this upon him.
Should he just accept it just because he liked it? No. He had vowed to destroy both of those sects as revenge.
So how was a decision which was already written in fate his own? Just because he felt it was right didn’t mean that he didn’t feel a little sour inside.
But could he destroy fate? He doubted that.
There might be many mighty figures in these worlds who must have tried to do something like that. Some might have celestial physiques too, but were they successful? Definitely not, or this fate wouldn’t be here right now.
He didn’t know how strong those mighty figures might be, but there would be some who were definitely the strongest of their era. He wasn’t narcissistic to think that he would be able to surpass them. He might be able to reach their level, but surpassing them might really not be possible.
So how could he vow to destroy something which had existed for eons? He shook his head and took the last step.
He would see what it had in store for him. With that step, he was out of the mist. Finally, he was able to see the sunlight again. It was still morning.
In front of him, there was a clearing without any trees. It was a field similar to where vegetables are grown.
The only difference was that instead of vegetables, there were only spirit herbs.
He was stunned by this sight. This spirit field was quite big, about three hundred meters long and similarly three hundred meters wide, and it was completely filled with spirit herbs of different kinds.
The reason he was stunned was that every spirit herb here was definitely above the Void Reversion realm. He had seen grade seven spirit herbs before, and he could definitely identify them in this group of herbs.
So, after looking through, he found out that there were very few of those grade seven herbs in this field. The other spirit herbs were definitely of even higher grade than grade seven.
This spirit field contained so many spirit herbs that if other people of the world knew about it, they would definitely attack in groups.
He didn’t know if they would be successful or not, but this many spirit herbs were definitely enough to give in to one’s greed.
He looked in front of him. This field was a little below the peak of the mountain. It was definitely created by someone by cutting the mountain at this level.
The owner must be on the peak. Just as he was about to move, he heard Yin Ni again.
"It really is that... huh, I wasn’t even able to sense it before. Interesting."
"What are you talking about, Senior?"
"Look at the field... well, forget it. You wouldn’t be able to see through it. There is a treasure deep inside the ground in the center of this field.
It’s a treasure which increases the flow of time in the area around it by using time laws. Also, see how different spirit herbs which require different conditions are growing together without conflicting with each other—it is because every single one of them is separated from the others through spatial barriers."
