Yuno was already determined to love Ki Gayoon as much as he could.

But that didn’t mean he wouldn’t be embarrassed while sitting between the Esper’s legs while they were on the sofa.

"That’s right," Ki Gayoon mumbled grumpily. "You better dedicate your life to Noh Yuno from now on, kid."

Kim Jaeha, for some reason, readily agreed with what Ki Gayoon said. "Y-Yes, sir! I’ll be loyal to Yuno Hyung for the rest of my life."

"Don’t mind him," Yuno said, waving his hand. "Is it okay if we ask questions now, Jaeha-ya?"

Kim Jaeha then put on a determined look on his face. "Yes, Hyung."

"What happened?"

"Uhm, Matthew Hyung was mad because we lost Sarang Noona and Hanjin Hyung because of the recent events. So, he lashed out at me," Kim Jaeha said, and it was amazing how the kid was able to remain calm. "He beat me up, and it was worse than usual."

"Than usual," the kid says.

Kim Jaeha may have not noticed it, but everyone stiffened up because his statement implied that he was being physically abused consistently.

And it seems like Kim Jaeha thinks it’s normal.

"Matthew Hyung seems like he wants to kill me this time. But, thankfully, Rebecca Noona came and saved me. Sooin Noona also came, but I don’t remember what happened after that since I fainted," Kim Jaeha continued with his explanation. "When I woke up, I was already in the alleyway where Kwon Hojun-ssi found me. I vaguely remember Sooin Noona telling me that I have to carry that "thing.""

Kim Jaeha then clutched his chest tight.

"Sooin Noona said it would hurt, and it did, when she inserted something in my chest."

Ah, so it was Jin Sooin who put the Esper Core in Kim Jaeha’s heart.

"I fainted again because of how much it hurt," Kim Jaeha said, hugging himself as he remembered the painful experience he had just gone through. "When I opened my eyes again, I was already here. I don’t remember much of what happened while I was being brought here, though."

"Thank you for telling us, Jaeha-ya," Yuno said. "You did well."

Kim Jaeha’s face lit up.

"Jaeha-ya, you’re not going to return there, are you?" Lee Sarang asked carefully. "Please don’t. I’ll protect you, so don’t be afraid of them."

"Don’t worry, Noona. I have no intention of returning as Matthew Hyung’s Guide," Kim Jaeha said firmly. "I actually told Matthew Hyung that I was quitting. That made him angrier. I think he tried to kill me." He touched his neck, the fear in his eyes visible. "Matthew Hyung used his wind ability to strangle me. And it seemed like he tried to drain the air out of my lungs."

That fucking bastard—

"Matthew did that?" Ki Gayoon asked in a cold voice, raising his head to look at Kim Jaeha. "He tried to drain the air out of your lungs?"

Kim Jaeha flinched, but he nodded. "Y-Yes, sir. That was the first time Matthew Hyung did that to me, so I believe he really tried to kill me earlier."

"Matthew Oppa has really changed," Lee Sarang commented, and it looked like she was about to cry at any moment. "But I didn’t expect him to try and kill Jaeha."

Now that they were talking about Matthew, it reminded Yuno of something.

Right, I saw a ghost earlier.

Ki Gayoon’s heartfelt confession almost made him forget about that important part.

"It sounded like a man to me," Kwon Hojun said, scratching his cheek as if he was embarrassed. "I wanted to run away, but the ghost kept using the wind to move me closer to Guide Kim Jaeha-ssi."

Ki Gayoon and Lee Sarang then asked the same question at the same time.

"The ghost used wind?"

"Y-Yes, ma’am and sir," Kwon Hojun answered politely, obviously intimidated by Ki Gayoon and Lee Sarang. "The ghost used a gust of wind..."

Ah.

At that point, even Yuno felt a shiver down his spine.

It sounds like the ghost in question has the same ability as Esper Matthew-ssi, but to be a ghost, you have to die first...

Then did it mean Matthew was already dead?

And if it’s true, then who the fuck is the current Esper Matthew-ssi?

Yuno was a bit startled when Ki Gayoon suddenly stood up, and he was already on his feet in the blink of an eye.

"Hyung, where are you going?" Yuno asked, grabbing Ki Gayoon by the arm. "You’re not going to fight with Esper Ryu Sungbin and Team Leader Bambi-ssi, are you?"

"I’m not going to pick a fight with them," Ki Gayoon said through gritted teeth, his eyes glowing red. "I’m going to kill those bastards."
