Chapter 151: NOH YIHUN (7)

MESSING with his food.

Burning his sketchbooks.

Putting spiders, roaches, and even rats in his room.

Yihun simply ignored all of that.

His fellow Top 12 E-Class Guides were there for him anyway— they would share their food with Yihun, buy him new sketchbooks and drawing materials, and help him clean his room.

The bullying he experienced brought him closer to his hyungs and noonas.

Yihun thought he could endure it...

... until Ni-ki opened his dirty mouth.

"Hyung-nim, have you heard?"

Yihun stared at Ni-ki with a blank look on his face.

Is he trash-talking again?

It wouldn’t be the first time.

Right now, Yihun and Ni-ki were once again facing each other in a sparring.

However, neither Yosef Lee nor Charles Kang was there to observe the fight.

Only B-Class Espers, who served as the Top 12’s instructors, were there.

And these instructors seem to be on Ni-ki’s side.

"Hyung-nim, are you ignoring me?"

Yihun let out a sigh before asking: "Heard about what?"

"My condolences, Yihun Hyung-nim," Ni-ki said in a fake, sympathetic voice. "Lee Taesan died while raiding a dungeon."

To say that Yihun was surprised would be an understatement. "Ni-ki, that’s not something you can joke about. There’s no recent news about a failed dungeon raid—"

"The government and the Esper Association decided to keep it a secret from the public," Ni-ki said smugly, cutting off Yihun on purpose. "Lee Taesan and a few newly promoted C-Class Espers joined a group of veteran B-Class Espers. They were supposed to raid a dormant C-Grade dungeon. However, when they entered the dungeon, its rank suddenly changed. It went from C-Grade to A-Grade. Since they didn’t bring A-Class Espers with them, not even the veteran B-Class Espers survived the A-Rank dungeon— they all died."

"Ni-ki, if you’re only messing with me—"

"Hyung-nim, again, my condolences," Ni-ki said, smiling. "I heard Lee Taesan was supposed to be dispatched for the second Away Mission after passing the licensure exam. But, apparently, he begged his instructors to let him join the first Away Mission. According to the report, Lee Taesan said he made a promise to confess to someone within a month." The bastard then acted like he was worried. "I wonder who Lee Taesan was supposed to confess to. If it wasn’t for that person, Lee Taesan would still be alive by now~"

Yuno clenched his hands tight.

It was very clear that Ni-ki was messing with him.

He knows that I’m the person Lee Taesan wants to confess to, and he’s making me feel guilty about it.

Which was funny.

Because I already feel guilty even without this bastard blaming me.

"Yihun-ah, focus!"

Oh.

Yihun snapped back to reality when the alarm that signalled the start of the sparring already went off at the same time Erwan yelled.

Dammit.

I got distracted!

Before he could even move, Ni-ki already had his palm pressed firmly against Yihun’s chest.

Argh!

Yihun felt the Crystallization of his Mana around his heart and Core cracking.

This bastard got more powerful.

And Ni-ki clearly wanted to kill Yihun.

What kind of training did this bastard go through for him to improve this much already? If this continues, I’ll die for real.

Yihun then looked for the instructors, his eyes begging them to stop the fight.

But the B-Class Esper instructors only averted their eyes.

Ah, those are Ni-ki’s people.

"Hyung-nim, stop resisting. How could you keep on creating more and more layers of shield to protect your heart?" Ni-ki whispered in a low and cold voice. "Someone died because of you. Lee Taesan might get lonely in the Afterlife, so why not join him there?"

Haaah.

Yihun was working overtime to strengthen the shield around his heart and Core— he kept adding more and more layers as "coat."

Fortunately, he had an overflowing Mana in him.

But if I get careless, this brat could break my heart and Core easily.

"I really don’t have a strong will to live," Yihun said in a calm voice. Well, he hoped he sounded calm. There was actually a storm in his head. And, for the first time, he felt a violent urge to kill a person. "But I hate to die at the hands of a brat like you."

"Well, do you hear your heart cracking, Hyung-nim?"

"Yeah, and I’ve always wondered about your technique, Ni-ki. How could a fellow Guide harm his fellow Guide the way you do?"

"I’m afraid that’s a trade secret, Hyung-nim?"

"Then I’m glad I was curious enough to analyze your mysterious skill, brat," Yihun said, grabbing Ni-ki by the wrist. "In Reverse Guiding, we use the corrupted Mana we absorbed from Esper as a means to attack them. But we’re both Guides, so I wonder what you use to try and break the shield around our hearts."

"Hyung-nim, even if you’re a genius, you still can’t figure out—"

"But I already did since you kept trying to kill me using the same technique."

"Excuse me?"

"You’re just simply disturbing the flow of my Mana, and then you insert your own corrupted Mana in my body. So, once your corrupted Mana begins gathering around my heart, my Mana would consider it as a harmful, foreign substance. Hence, my Mana would automatically attack your corrupted Mana," Yihun explained casually, and then he pressed his hand against Ni-ki’s chest— causing the brat to gasp out loud. "Just like this."

Yihun then injected a large chunk of his Mana into Ni-ki’s heart.

His Mana wasn’t corrupted— but it was stronger than Ni-ki’s Mana. Hence, the brat’s Mana would still register Yihun’s Mana as a threat.

And once it happened.

CRAAACK.

That was the sound of Ni-ki’s heart and Core breaking at the same time.

"Argh!" Ni-ki let out a painful groan, dropping his hand that was clutching Yihun’s chest to grab his own. The brat then stepped away from Yihun, his pupils shaking from fear. "How did you do it better than I do, you bastard?"

"Ah, I’m afraid that’s a trade secret," Yihun said coldly, extending his hand to finish the job. "Let me finish my job, Ni-ki."

"Noh Yihun, freeze!"

Aigoo.

Before Yihun knew it, the B-Class Esper instructors who ignored his SOS earlier had already restrained him.

These dog bastards...!

***

"NI-KI has fallen into a comatose state because of what you did to his heart and Core, Yihun-ah."

Yihun heard what Charles Kang had said, but he didn’t really care about that.

The B-Class Esper instructors knocked him out to stop him from killing Ni-ki.

When he woke up, he was already in the Infirmary Wing.

"We trained Ni-ki to restrain his fellow Guides by simply messing with the flow of their Mana. But that technique isn’t supposed to be deadly."

Bullshit.

"The technique that you used against Ni-ki was a fatal technique, Yihun-ah," Charles Kang said in a serious tone. "Tell me how you did it."

"Is it true that Lee Taesan is already dead?"

"Answer my question first."

Yihun scoffed. "I’m sure you’ve already seen the footage of my sparring with Ni-ki. And I’m pretty sure the "instructors" had already reported what happened to you. I clearly explained how I almost killed Ni-ki." He paused for a moment, smirking. "Maybe I should add that I was really determined to kill that fucking brat?"

"Calm down, Yihun-ah. I understand how you feel, but Ni-ki is still your peer."

"Ah, so if Ni-ki does it, it’s okay? The instructors turn a blind-eye every time that brat tries to kill me. But when I do it, I’m suddenly the bad person?"

"Noh Yihun."

"Is Lee Taesan dead or alive?"

"Esper Lee Taesan-ssi has unfortunately passed away."

Yihun clenched his hands tight, his tears making his vision blurry. "I want to see him— I want to pay my last respects to Taesan Hyung-nim."

"I’m sorry, but you can’t leave the Lab after you almost killed your classmate, Noh Yihun-ssi, You’re grounded, and you’ll be locked up in your room indefinitely," Charles Kang said sternly while standing up. "But if you’re ready to share us the technique you did, I’ll think about it."

Haaah.

There’s no trusted adult in this fucking place.

***

YIHUN was really locked up in his room as soon as he was released from the Infirmary Wing.

The staff didn’t miss delivering decent meals for him.

However, his devices and gadgets were confiscated.

Even his fellow Top 12 E-Class Guides weren’t allowed to talk to him— not in any form.

I’m losing my mind.

Yihun really wanted to attend Lee Taesan’s funeral.

Fortunately, it was easy to make a fire using perfume, a candle, and a little jar.

It even came with a little explosion as a bonus.

Yes, Yihun set his room on fire— earning him a spot in the Death Camp.

And that was when his hell truly began.

EXTRA STORY (in case you miss present Yuno and Ki Gayoon):

"LET’S stop using separate rooms, Noh Yuno."

Aigoo.

Yuno had just finished his online meeting with his editors and producer when Ki Gayoon came and bugged him again. "Hyung, I already told you that we don’t need to share the same room. We already live in the same house."

Ki Gayoon sat on the edge of his bed, and then he crossed his arms over his chest. "How can I convince you?"

Aww.

That sounded tempting.

Should I take advantage of Hyung?

Since Yuno wasn’t in the mood to fight, he decided to compromise. "Show me your baby pictures, Hyung. If the pictures are healing enough, then let’s negotiate."
