GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?-Chapter 2130: The Light Of The Lamp.
The shadow laughed and laughed and laughed. Its laughter of mockery rang through her mind until it was all that she could hear.
The shadow was happy because its question had put her at a dead end. She had no way out now.
Without rules, there can be no transgression. Without transgression, there can be no sin. Without sin, there can be no injustice. Without injustice, there can be no justice.
If she is to uphold justice, she has to have rules that she obeys and considers right. If she truly obeys rules, then she will have to prioritize safety over privacy. If she prioritizes safety as the captain, then she has to break other rules in order to enforce that safety.
She would rather not answer, as she couldn't see the right path to take.
She was in a moral dilemma and had no good option to pick. But she had to answer. She had to pick an option because the shadow was growing bigger and stronger every moment that she didn't answer.
Her mental turmoil was fuel for its growth. If she doesn't answer, it will grow so large that it will cloud her mind completely. But if she gives an incorrect answer, she might lose control immediately.
The shadow was also encouraging her to answer. It said, "Don't be so hard on yourself. I am not asking you to kill anyone. I just want you to confront a suspicious boy. There is no harm in that. It is actually commendable because you're doing it for the safety of your division."
"It shouldn't take you long to do. You will be done in a maximum of five minutes if you return now to interrogate the boy."
But she didn't go back to the prison. Instead, she rushed upstairs to the first underground floor. She ran back to her office and went to where she hung her lamp.
The lamp was glass. It had a light stone within it, which she switched on. This made her room light up.
The light of the lamp was white. It was soothing to her. She especially liked how the light of the lamp made shadows scatter before her.
She hugged the lamp to her chest and said quietly, "There are things that are legal that are wrong. There are things that are illegal but are right. Rules are good, but rules are not everything. Sometimes, rules can even be the enemy. It is difficult to tell. But I have a lamp to direct my path."
"The light of the lamp chases away the darkness and shows the way. I go where the light goes. I am the lamp. I am the light. I navigate through the darkness of uncertainty until I find justice. I am the justice seeker."
Her voice was soft and quiet. She was speaking to herself, but she wasn't trying to convince herself of anything. She was only reinforcing her belief.
She is willing to admit that she doesn't know the way. She knows that she can't tell what is right and wrong. But she believes that this is not a bad thing.
She doesn't think she needs to know everything. She only needs to take one step at a time in the darkness. Once she finds her justice, she will know. Until then, there is no rush.
It can be said that she was trying to hypnotize herself. It worked to a certain extent. Her state of mind began to calm down, and her inner demon stopped growing.
The damage had already been done. The inner demon had grown stronger. But it had also stopped growing and had been lulled into a sleep. It won't wake up until there is another opportunity to put her into a moral dilemma.
She sighed in relief and returned the lamp to its rack. Then she went to her chair and sat down.
The light of the lamp showed that she was soaked. She had been sweating so much that it soaked her clothes and made her look as if rain had fallen on her.
She was mentally and physically exhausted too. It didn't look like it, but she had just finished a battle. It was a battle that was physically and mentally exerting.
This battle is just one of the many battles that will take place in the eternal war between her and her divine flesh. The war has intensified lately because she completed the advancement ritual needed to advance to rank 5.
Every godclad is in a constant war with their divine flesh. But there are certain times when the war intensifies. This usually happens when a godclad just advances or when they complete an advancement ritual, which causes the fusion of the godclad and the divine flesh to intensify.
If she wins this round of battles, she will be able to advance safely. She can also decide to ignore the battle and choose to assimilate more divine flesh. It is safe to say that that won't go well.
She more or less lost this battle, but she didn't lose too much. Actually, she has never won any battle in this round of the war. It is not a good thing at all.
The war is a good thing for her. It is a good thing that she is facing it now instead of waiting until she assimilates more powerful divine flesh. But it won't be a good thing if she loses the war.
There are three possible outcomes for her. She either wins, loses, or draws. If she loses, she will mutate, and if she wins, she will be able to grow stronger.
If she draws, she will stagnate at this level and never be able to advance. This is her preferred outcome. It is what she is striving for.
Drawing with her inner demon is what she has been told to achieve. If she does this well, she might win. It will alps be more difficult for her to lose if she is not ambitious.
