34 -34 Self-Scolding Oneself_1
“President Chen.”
“Good morning, President Chen!”
Employees of the Guangming Opera House on the first floor saw Chen Zhengxin and the two others coming out of the elevator and quickly bowed to greet them.
“Have you seen Ye Zhiwen?” Chen Zhengxin waved his hand and asked in a stern voice.
“Ye Zhiwen went out with Zhong Jianping.” As it turned out, someone had seen Ye Zhiwen.
Hearing President Chen’s inquiry, a female attendant answered.
“What about Li Changlin, who recognizes Li Changlin?
Was he with Ye Zhiwen?” Ye Zhiwen was a secondary concern; Li Changlin was of paramount importance.
“Li Changlin left with them too.
It seemed like they were comforting Zhong Jianping,” the female attendant knew quite a lot and immediately responded.
“I’m doomed, with Li Changlin gone, where am I going to find him!” Chen Zhengxin clenched his fist in frustration and pounded the wall.
While he knew Li Changlin, he had no idea where Li Changlin lived, and he didn’t have Li Changlin’s phone number.
He had driven Li Changlin away himself, and there was a chance the guy would never come back, which was utterly vexing!
“If President Chen is looking for Li Changlin, you could ask Ye Zhiwen to pass on the message!” The female attendant was quite perceptive and immediately offered a suggestion with a smile.
“Ye Zhiwen’s phone is unreachable.” Mentioning Ye Zhiwen only intensified Chen Zhengxin’s irritation.
“Then I’ll try calling Zhong Jianping.” As she spoke, the female attendant took out her mobile phone.
“Yes, hurry and get in touch with Zhong Jianping for me, ask her to come back.
Tell her I apologize for what happened just now!” Chen Zhengxin calmed down, momentarily forgetting in his restlessness that Ye Zhiwen was with Zhong Jianping.
However, he felt awkward about calling Zhong Jianping himself, especially since it would be quite embarrassing if she refused to come back.
Soon, the female attendant got through to Zhong Jianping.
At this time, Ye Zhiwen and Zhong Jianping had just arrived at the job market.
The two of them got out of the car, about to enter the main gate of the job market, when Zhong Jianping’s mobile phone rang.
“I need to take a call, Brother Ye,” Zhong Jianping stopped and called out, then took her phone from her purse.
Looking down, she saw the call was from her colleague at the opera house, Lu Mei.
Without much thought, she immediately answered.
“Ah Ping, Ah Ping, where are you?
President Chen is looking for you!” As soon as the call connected, Lu Mei shouted.
Next to her, Chen Zhengxin’s face turned slightly and he scratched his head.
Meanwhile, at the entrance to the job market, Zhong Jianping was stunned.
For a good while, she was at a loss for words.
President Chen had already fired her, so why was he looking for her?
“Ah Ping, why aren’t you saying anything?” Lu Mei hadn’t noticed Chen Zhengxin’s gesture and, hearing no response from Zhong Jianping, she hurriedly shouted again, “Can you hear me, Ah Ping?
President Chen has an urgent matter for you.”
“I’m here, Ah Mei.
What does President Chen want with me?
I’m at the job market!” Lu Mei’s voice was quite loud, waking Zhong Jianping from her stupor, who quickly responded in a hushed tone.
“Hey, why are you at the job market?
Ah Ping, you’re not thinking of switching jobs, are you?
I think our Guangming Opera House is pretty good.
Why are you looking for other work?” Hearing that Zhong Jianping was at the job market, Lu Mei was utterly astonished.
She had no idea that Zhong Jianping had already completed her resignation procedures and been fired by Chen Zhengxin.
“I, I’ve been let go by President Chen.” Lu Mei had a good relationship with Zhong Jianping and really had nothing to hide about the resignation, so she just came out and said it.
“Ah, President Chen fired you?” Lu Mei was dumbfounded, turning her head to look at Chen Zhengxin with confusion.
“Just say it was my impulsiveness, I didn’t really mean to fire her, tell her to come back and redo the onboarding process immediately,” Chen Zhengxin appeared extremely embarrassed, awkwardly laughing.
“Ah Ping, whose call is it?” Naturally, Ye Zhiwen heard Zhong Jianping’s voice, so he immediately went to her side and asked softly.
“It’s Ah Mei, she’s calling on President Chen’s orders.” There was nothing to hide, Zhong Jianping handed her phone to Ye Zhiwen with frustration, and indeed Lu Mei’s name was on the screen.
“Dizzy, what does President Chen want with you now!” Ye Zhiwen scratched his head, feeling that something complicated was going on.
“Damn, could it be that bastard Chen Zhengxin has taken a shine to Ah Ping?” Suddenly, Ye Zhiwen remembered a rumor, his heart suddenly tied in knots.
It was said that Chen Zhengxin was very lecherous and often harassed staff at the opera house.
Moreover, he really did have dubious relations with several staff members.
“Ah Ping, you better prioritize job hunting, don’t waste time,” this time Ye Zhiwen was truly concerned; he liked Ah Ping very much and didn’t want to see Zhong Jianping get harmed by Chen Zhengxin.
Right then, he didn’t continue the conversation, instead he decisively grabbed Zhong Jianping’s phone and fiercely pressed down on the screen.
Immediately, the call was cut off.
“Ah Ping, President Chen was saying…” Ye Zhiwen had just ended the call when on the other end Lu Mei was getting instructions from Chen Zhengxin.
But before she could say much, a beeping sound filled her ear.
“They hung up, President Chen, they hung up the call on their end,” Lu Mei stole a glance at Chen Zhengxin and awkwardly placed the phone down.
“Keep calling!” Chen Zhengxin, frustrated, touched his nose and shouted, “We must get Zhong Jianping back, I have important business with her!”
“Okay, okay, I’ll call right away, right away!” Lu Mei had never seen Chen Zhengxin so angry; terrified, she immediately redialed Zhong Jianping’s number.
However, Ye Zhiwen was already prepared.
Fearing that Chen Zhengxin harbored inappropriate intentions, after hanging up, he took Zhong Jianping’s phone from her hands and immediately set Lu Mei’s number to reject calls.
This way, there was no chance for Lu Mei to get through.
Listening to the busy tone emitting from the phone, Lu Mei looked at Chen Zhengxin with dismay.
“Damn it!” Chen Zhengxin punched the air fiercely, his face becoming extremely ugly, filled with deep regret, feeling he’d been too rash in his actions.
If only he hadn’t fired Zhong Jianping at that moment, if only he hadn’t scolded Li Changlin upon entering the rehearsal room, things would never have gotten so out of hand.
Now he could only think about the song “Don’t Think You Are Useless,” having finally found such a talented composer and lyricist, how could he have foolishly driven him away!
“I’m such a pig!
What should I do now, where can I find Li Changlin!” Chen Zhengxin pounded his head in frustration.
With Zhong Jianping gone and Ye Zhiwen not taking his calls, Li Changlin surely wouldn’t return to the Guangming Opera House either, and there he was—having foolishly lost a great opportunity!
