Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 71: Fake Signature
Chapter 71: Fake Signature
Cecilia frowned, confirming that the phone number was indeed a stranger’s. Frank really did not know when to give up; he must have changed several phone cards just to contact her.
On the phone, he continued to speak incessantly.
"How can a biological daughter be so heartless, you ungrateful brat?! If you don’t hand over the house and the inheritance, never come back to the Morrison family!"
A sense of impatience rose in Cecilia’s heart.
Frank’s business had been running into trouble lately, with his funds not flowing back. He would soon be blacklisted.
She didn’t know who was behind this, but Cecilia preferred to call it reaping what he sowed.
"We no longer have any relationship."
After speaking, she decisively hung up the phone and blocked the number.
She lost all appetite for eating, so she stood up and took Emma.
"I’m really sorry, Great-aunt, but we need to leave now."
Elena nodded, looking at Cecilia with some concern.
"About that interview opportunity..."
"No need."
Mary snorted, "See? That’s what you call putting your warm face against someone’s cold butt. If she’s so capable, she can earn it herself."
Cecilia ignored her and left with Emma.
The next day, as soon as Cecilia got up, she received an interview invitation from Arleston.
She gently woke Emma up, who was beside her.
An hour later, they were in a car heading to Arleston.
Arleston was located in the most famous, wealthy district of Star City, occupying an entire mountain.
As the car drove on, Cecilia was checking the things Emma needed to bring for the interview. Meanwhile, Emma was excitedly sharing her joy of going to school with Alex.
[Brother, I’m going to school just like you!]
[Great! Which school?]
Emma tilted her head, thinking for a moment.
[Arlo’s Stew.]
[...]
As Cecilia flipped through the papers, something suddenly came to her mind.
"Emma, where is that paper I gave you yesterday?"
It was a piece of identification, essential for the interview. Emma had curiously taken it yesterday before it disappeared.
Emma thought for a moment.
"At the hotel."
...
Cecilia’s face turned dark.
A minute later, the two were standing halfway up the mountain, watching as Edwin drove away.
Cecilia found a rock to sit on, watching Emma playing with butterflies beside her.
Suddenly, music echoed from afar as a car stopped in front of them.
Emma was the first to recognize who was in the car.
"Uncle!"
Ethan got out of the car and took off his sunglasses, reaching out to hug Emma.
"What are you doing here?"
He was on his way to deliver something to Alex at Arleston, but he was not expecting to run into these two halfway up the mountain.
"We... we’re going to have Arlo’s stew!"
Cecilia shook her head helplessly.
"We’re going to the top of the mountain."
Ethan patted his chest.
"Hop in, I’ll take you there!"
To his surprise, both Emma and Cecilia spoke up at the same time.
"No!"
Ethan was stunned.
Emma spoke bluntly, "Uncle, this car is ugly, just like a fly. I’m afraid my classmates will laugh at me."
Cecilia silently nodded in agreement.
He was petrified on the spot.
This car was his most treasured possession. If he weren’t in a good mood today, he would not have let anyone ride in it.
But they even called it ugly!
How tasteless!
He stood there with a pouty face, trying to show the two in front of him that he was upset.
However, the two seemed more interested in the butterflies.
Eventually, he couldn’t stand it any longer.
"Do you even know how awesome this car is? It even has the signature of the world’s number one race car driver, KAKA!"
Cecilia walked around the car a few times. On the other hand, Emma’s eyes widened as she looked at the signature on the car.
Ethan thought they were impressed by his words, looking smug.
Suddenly, she pointed at the signature and shouted, "This signature is fake!"
He was furious. It was fine for them to slander him, but not his beloved car!
"How can you say it’s fake?!"
Emma blinked and said, "I recognize KAKA’s actual signature because KAKA is my..."
