Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 39: Drug
Chapter 39: Drug
Steven’s hair was still damp. He usually kept his hair neatly combed back, but today was the first time Cecilia saw his hair naturally falling straight. Somehow, it refined his facial features more. Further down were his strong chest muscles, defined abs, and perfect Apollo’s belt, leading down to the area wrapped in a towel.
There was steam surrounding him, bringing along a faint scent of body wash.
Tsk, not a bad physique.
To Cecilia, who had grown used to seeing foreign men with far too muscular bodies, she liked Steven’s build better and couldn’t help but admire it.
Steven, however, was a bit surprised.
Why was this woman here?
Did she follow him again? But how did she get past the gate?
And... could she learn to restrain those indecent eyes of hers?!
He was about to step forward and ask Cecilia what she wanted, but he suddenly felt dizzy.
What was happening? Did he spend too long in the shower?
He steadied himself, noticing this didn’t feel like a typical case of lack of oxygen.
His body was heating up, and he even felt a bewildering yet shameful feeling in his lower body.
He tightly clutched the towel, looking at Cecilia.
Cecilia watched him, who was swaying unsteadily on his feet, feeling puzzled. As she was about to walk over and ask, she was also hit by a pang of dizziness.
A sudden rush of heat rose from inside her body.
She took off her jacket by reflex, but the heat became unbearable after a short while. In an impulsive trance, she wanted to rush for a cold shower in the bathroom.
In a daze, she headed toward the bathroom but didn’t notice her surroundings as she collided with Steven head-on.
She had yanked his towel away in the process, the cloth slipping off as she pinned him down with her entire body.
Feeling his cool skin on hers, she sighed in relief.
But not long after, she noticed something hot and hard uncomfortably pressing against her.
She began to rub against him, trying to alleviate the heat in some way.
On the other hand, Steven could feel arousal boiling up within him.
‘What the hell is up with this woman?’
He struggled to free a hand so he could push her off him, but she only got closer the more he tried to move her.
His eyes glanced up to Cecilia above him. Her face was a blush of red, looking adorably coy.
Her lips were red and plump like a cherry, and it really made him want to...
Steven’s eyes grew hazy, his lips involuntarily moving closer to hers. The temperature in the air was only getting warmer.
Just as their lips lightly touched, he snapped back to reality.
Something wasn’t right!
He looked around, spotting the scented candle still smoldering on the coffee table.
It seemed he had been drugged, and that candle was the reason behind it!
‘This woman, did she go this far just to get closer to me?
‘She actually drugged me!’
He managed to sit up. He carried Cecilia up and walked toward the scented candle, using all his strength to put it out. After that, he laid her down on the sofa and grabbed some clothes to cover his private parts.
Five minutes later, Cecilia finally regained her senses.
Noticing the blown-out candle on the table and recalling her actions just now, she realized there was an issue with the candle itself.
She turned to see Steven sitting on the floor and trying to recompose himself, surprised at his restraint.
She had always regarded herself as someone with strong self-control, but this man appeared even stronger.
Her impression of him changed slightly.
But seeing him using her jacket to cover his private parts, she couldn’t sit still.
“How could you use my jacket to cover yourself there?! Don’t you have a towel?”
It was a limited edition one! How could she ever wear it again?
Seeing that Cecilia had regained her composure a bit, Steven gestured toward the bathroom door, where a towel lay strewn across the floor.
“Miss Morrison, if my memory serves me correctly, you were the one who pulled my towel off.”
Cecilia awkwardly smiled. “Is that so?”
“Then consider that jacket a gift for you.”
Seeing that she was still playing dumb, Steven didn’t beat around the bush anymore.
“I have no interest in your clothes or in you. Don’t attempt this drugging incident ever again.”
Cecilia was puzzled.
She let out a cold laugh and said, “Mr. Lawrence, shouldn’t I be saying that to you? You could’ve just told me if you wanted to pursue me—sending me a fake message to lure me to your house and then drugging me is far from gentlemanly.”
Steven was also confused now.
“I sent you a fake message, lured you to my house, and drugged you? If I recall correctly, you were the one who yanked my towel off and pinned me down, Miss Morrison. Also, I didn’t do any of that. If you’re going to lie, at least make it logical.”
“I...”
Cecilia was at a loss for words. He did have a point, and he didn’t seem to be lying about it.
Then what was going on?
She looked around, then stood up and turned her back.
“There must be surveillance footage to see who put down the candle there. You can check the cameras to see who came in first.”
Steven turned and walked into the bedroom, returning in a bathrobe.
He activated the surveillance cameras in the living room, and as soon as he did, there stood three people suspiciously peeking through the doorway.
