FLASH MARRIAGE; CHARMED BY THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE CEO-Chapter 314: Price For Revenge
Upon arriving at Nora's apartment, Gwen hurriedly made her way into Nora's house,
watching her back to ensure she wasn't followed.
She was received at the door by Rust, who didn't seem too pleased to see her.
Overlooking Rust's cold reception, Gwen made her way into the sitting room, where Nora was pacing up and down impatiently.
"Hello preggie..." Gwen teased, plopping into the nearby couch while flipping her bouncy, curly hair, beaming proudly. She observed that Nora was all dressed up as if she were about to leave the house.
"You are late." Nora's slightly raised voice took Gwen by surprise.
"Blame it on the traffic." Gwen rolled her eyes playfully.
Nora clenched her fist, inhaling and exhaling to stifle her bubbling anger.
"We need to be somewhere in the next three hours, but thanks to you, we might not make it there on time."
"Maybe if we start leaving right now, we could get there before the time elapses," Gwen replied, wondering where they were going.
"Hopefully. But first, I need to know something. Did you confirm from your father if he received the package I gave you?" Nora asked, anger surging through her veins as a result of the recent failed task.
"I did, and he loved it." Gwen tilted her head backwards to look at Rust, who was now standing behind her.
"You should have dropped it in his office by yourself. You should have followed my instructions to the letter." Nora hissed, gritting her teeth.
"He wasn't around, and according to protocol, I wouldn't be allowed into the office in his absence," Gwen explained, feeling slightly agitated by the interrogation.
"You should have waited and insisted." Nora suppressed the urge to yell.
"The whole day!" Gwen raised a brow.
"I don't care if it was for a whole year, but you should have waited." Nora spat out between clenched teeth.
"Hold on a second. Did I do something wrong?"
"Yes." Nora snarled.
"No, you did not." Rust intervened, giving Nora a warning nonverbal signal.
Gwen felt both heat and cold waves travelling up her spine as she observed Nora briefly, slightly terrified by the viciousness in her lethal gaze.
"If it makes you happy, I'll find a way to get into his office and check if the souvenir is still there." Gwen's attempt at pacifying Nora only deepened the crease on her face.
"There's no need for that. I'll find another way to get to your father. But in the meantime, we need access to your step-sister."
"Don't worry, if my date goes well tonight, Amelia will be all yours." Gwen beamed confidently.
"For your sake, I hope so." Nora scoffed.
"Would that be all?" Gwen stood up, ready to leave.
"No, I need you to transfer the sum of six million to this account," Nora demanded as if she gave Gwen money to keep on her behalf. She brought out a folded note from the back pocket of her tight-fitting jeans and tossed it over to Gwen.
"Excuse me!" Gwen raised a brow, plopping back on her seat with a lazy this. "Six million dollars? Where do you expect me to get that kind of money?"
"I need that money transferred in the next five minutes to those accounts." Nora continued ignoring Gwen's stunned expression and statement. "Also, we will need one million dollars in cash to fill this briefcase for an urgent business deal."
"Nora, you are not listening to me. I don't have seven million dollars to give to you."
"Of course you do." Nora picked up her phone on the table, opening a financial app that had Gwen's current account balance on display.
"Your father credited your account with a total sum of ten million dollars about twenty-eight hours ago. You invested one million dollars in your aunt's business and squandered about one million, two hundred thousand dollars on clothes, expensive accessories, beauty treatments, expensive dining and so on."
Gwen's jaw dropped. "Have you been spying on me too?"
Nora ignored Gwen's question as she continued to give an analysis of her account history.
"Currently, you have a balance of seven million, eight hundred thousand, three hundred twenty-six dollars minus the fraction. So, for your initial question, the answer is yes. You have the money I need."
That's money is for my business. Nora. If you want a million dollars, I can give it to you for free. You don't expect me to just give you everything."
"Don't make me laugh." Nora scoffed. "We both know that you're brainless when it comes to business. I'm simply doing you a favour by taking that money out of your slippery hands. Moreover, the money is not going into my pocket. So stop wasting precious time and start transferring."
Gwen felt belittled and insulted by Nora's statement. But she was more concerned about the beneficiaries of her money than dwelling on the insults.
"If the money is not going to you, then who?"
"Simple. Your uncle, Matt Shawls. Or should I say, your father."
Gwen felt anger coursing through her veins like boiling lava.
Matt was not out of prison yet, but he was already gunning for her money, just like he did in the past, subjecting her and her mother to so much pain.
Not this time. Not when her father doesn't believe a word from Amelia's mouth about her paternity. She wasn't going to let Matt rule her life again.
"Whatever you're thinking, I will advise you to think again. You can't win this battle on your own. You can beat your sister and her husband in this game. They are simply way above anything you can ever imagine. You need us to succeed. You need us to get back at those who made you lose your child. You need us to take back everything that has been stolen from you. Money is not going to be a problem once we've won the battle. So you better start transferring in the next thirty seconds or you might as well kiss your dream of a better life and future goodbye." Nora threatened.
Gwen bit down on her lips, tears pulling at the corners of her eyes as she slowly picked up the note containing the account details.
Why did Matt want her little money that she got fair and square from her father?
Why were Nora and Rust monitoring her?
Why did it feel like she was signing a pact with another devil?
Why was life so unfair to her anytime she got something that made her happy?
Gwen tapped her phone screen slowly, opening her bank app while grumbling under her breath, cursing her ill luck.
Nora was beginning to run out of patience watching Gwen make the transaction slowly,, but Rust was able to intervene and pacify her.
After the transfer was concluded, all three headed for the bank, where Gwen withdrew the sum of one million dollars and handed it over to Nora.
"Now that you have all my money, what next?" Gwen's sullen face and anger-laced voice made Nora chuckle.
"Now you follow us to witness a business deal that will ensure the safety of your family upon their return."
