Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 308 - : Arriving at Dakler City and Storming the Baron’s House (3)
Chapter 308 -308: Arriving at Dakler City and Storming the Baron’s House (3)
“We were all born to mother, and those two were born to father’s mistress,”
Ye Nai rolled his eyes, finally understanding why the little witch had only one boy supporting her—it turned out that the group of children were born of two mothers.
“Where is her academy? In the city?”
“No, the Wizard Academy is in Duke Akeley’s Domain.”
“Then why is she at home?”
“The academy is on break.”
“They’re on break before winter?”
“I don’t know, that’s what she said when she came back.”
Following that statement, the family turned back with strange expressions to look at the girl who was still unconscious on the stairs.
The daughter of the mistress, and the only one with wizard talents; to support her, the resources for the other children in the family had been reduced. Although the family found it odd when she first came back, they didn’t think much of it, but now that the Avenger had shown up at their door, it definitely seemed problematic.
Ye Nai also clicked his teeth and chuckled.
“She came home without taking a break, so is the problem with her, the academy, or the Duke’s Domain?”
Ye Nai was truly excited—if there was an issue in the Duke’s Domain that resulted in the academy having to close and send the students home, wouldn’t that in turn indicate that there had been major progress on Blue Star?
None of the Baron’s family were fools; excluding the youngest child, the adolescents who were a bit older all realized that something must be wrong in such a significant place as the Duke Territory.
Everyone, including the Baroness, displayed a look of despair.
Old Guan, the butler, was equally shocked. If something happened in the Duke’s Domain? Unthinkable, unthinkable…
Only the boy holding the little witch shouted unwillingly,
“My sister said the academy is on break—aren’t they allowed to have a break?”
No one paid him any attention.
Ye Nai even gave him a spore to quiet him down.
“How do you get to that Duke’s Domain?”
“I only know to go through the Marabene Military Fortress and use the Transmission Platform,”
Ye Nai shifted his gaze to Old Guan.
Old Guan nodded with a slight tremble.
“Yes, go to Marabene Military Fortress and use the Transmission Platform, then pass through two other military fortresses, finally reaching Duke Akeley’s Domain.”
“Tell me the names of those two fortresses.”
“First to Yastai Military Fortress, and then to Yaqiao Fortress, and then you will arrive at the main city of Duke Akeley’s Domain. Take a carriage out of the city, the academy is in the western suburbs of the main city.”
“Now none of your family knows what happened in the main city; you only know that the lady said the academy was on break when she returned home? Did she come back on her own or did someone from home go to fetch her?”

“She came back by herself; we were surprised that she didn’t wait to be fetched from home.”
The more the butler spoke, the harder it became to continue. Discussing this deeply, whether the lady caused trouble at the academy and was forced to return home as a minor penalty was trivial—what was truly feared was that something major had occurred either at the academy or in the Duke’s Main City.
“What luggage did the lady bring home with her? Did she bring back books, clothes, personal items, or did she come home empty-handed?”
“She came home with luggage, just like she was on a vacation, so we believed that it was a school holiday.”
As for why this question was not discussed in detail when the person just arrived home, it’s quite simple. The mistress’s two children, brought home by the master to be raised for their wizard talent, would be raised, but regular meaningful communication was not guaranteed. When someone returned and simply mentioned that school was out, no one at home would inquire further.
Ye Nai smiled slightly; of course, she wasn’t interested in finding out what had happened in Duke Lord City. She was fully focused on the luggage that the lady had brought home.
The books, clothes, and daily necessities were all brought back, with the books being the focal point.
She shifted her gaze back to the young girl who was conversing with her.
“Are you now the eldest child in the house?”
“Yes.”
“What’s your name?”
“I’m Nina. You can ask me to do anything; I’m willing to be your maid, just please don’t mistreat my mother and siblings.”
“Mistreat? What do you mean by ‘mistreat’? What does ‘mistreat’ look for you?”
“Captives are all slaves. We have to work every day, never getting enough food or sleep. Nobles can redeem themselves with a lot of money.”
“That won’t work, no redemption, must work, but can be fed.”
Ye Nai’s mind lit up. In the East Ridge Secret Realm, she could only farm a few acres alone. Here were ready laborers.
Keeping them without making them work was out of the question, either work or die.
“Nobles are treated preferentially, don’t you have nobles? For the sake of both being nobles, don’t mistreat us.”
“Having been at war for so long, do you not know who your enemies are? Not killing captives is preferential treatment, but they must work. To eat, they must work, otherwise, they die; this is called labor reformation.”
Ye Nai used her own language for the last term, too lazy to figure out how to translate it. In the future, when she had captured more prisoners, they would naturally understand what ‘preferential captive labor reformation’ meant.
As soon as Ye Nai finished speaking, Nina and her younger siblings could not help but sob. The younger ones even trembled, and even the fierce-looking Old Lady appeared as limp as a shrimp. Heaven only knows how great the difference was between what they considered work and what Ye Nai meant by it.
Not wasting time with idle chatter, Ye Nai had already taken a family photo, then knocked them out and took them into the Space.
During this conversation, the mass of spores she had positioned earlier began to ransack the house, taking away all valuable items and books.
Not a single barrel or bottle of wine was left in the wine cellar.
The silver dining ware used daily by the master’s family was beautiful, but to nobles, it was merely everyday ware, not comparable to the utensils used for hosting banquets. Ye Nai took the better items.
However, the everyday items she left behind, while seemingly not valuable to someone like the Baron, were still good items that could be sold for quite a bit of money by people like servants and maids, including high-quality clothes and textiles that Ye Nai didn’t take; she left them for the servants as a severance gift.
No need for pleasantries; the time difference between the two worlds was so great that, by the time she returned to the Blue Star, gathered a team and came back to take over the territory, who knew how many years would have passed here. Perhaps the city would have a new master, and another battle would be required to seize it again.
After all the ransacking, it grew dark, as she had spent most of her time in the Otherworld traveling.
Ye Nai allowed the steward and the servants to stay downstairs to pack up their belongings, while she herself went upstairs to explore the rooms. She discovered that the mansion, which appeared large from the outside, actually had only three stories plus an attic.
The master’s and mistress’s bedrooms were located at opposite ends of the corridor on the third floor, one room each, with a study and library in the middle. The boys stayed on the second floor, and the girls in the attic, which was very well lit with a row of large windows.
Indeed befitting of a Baron’s mansion, there were many rooms—each person, both master and children, had their own bedroom, while the servants slept in the basement.
After touring the house, Ye Nai chose the attic as her place to rest for the night.
