Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking-Chapter 610: Seal Research
--
Inside Cedric's seclusion chambers, a mystical scene was playing out.
Originally, this was just a large room, but when Cedric started whatever it was he was doing, it suddenly turned into a whole cosmic expanse. Cedric himself seemingly disappeared, and only the massive swirling cosmos was left behind.
Occasionally, there will be flashes of light streaking to and from places, forming dense and mysterious shapes containing so much profundity. A silhouette of Cedric's fingers appearing as a phantom could occasionally be seen drawing these lines and connecting them together. Each time a shape is formed, a mysterious phenomenon will occur.
One after another, these shapes either combined or were superimposed on top of each other, forming an extremely complex formation containing the endless mysteries and profundity of heaven and earth.
At some point, Cedric appeared once more. He looked like a heavenly architect forming the structure of creation itself as he stood before the massive swirling cosmic expanse now covered with dense lines and shapes.
After an untold period of time, Cedric's activities stopped. The phenomenon before him stilled and suddenly exploded into a golden light. Once it subsided, the room returned to what it was before, and the scene previously was gone, leaving only a single rune hovering before Cedric, exuding a divine brilliance.
Looking at this divine rune, Cedric sighed. He waved his sleeves and collected the rune. Then, he sat down to massage his temples.
"Failed again," he whispered to nobody in particular. "But it's getting there. I just need to adjust some ratios and stabilize some elements."
Years have passed since Cedric started researching with the goal of creating a seal that would imprison the main consciousness of the void in its world.
Cedric went into this research knowing that this will be difficult and that it will take a long time, so he wasn't really surprised with his failure just now. There had been more attempts previously, and all of them failed, so he wasn't disappointed anymore. However, each failure brought him closer and closer to success.
He has already informed the rest of his findings on the void, and the office has been preparing for it. His first clone had been busy working with them to upgrade their weapons and defenses against the void.
The Void Prince actually launched another horde recently, but the result was still the same. The defense was a resounding success; not even a single void creature managed to do any real damage to the defense line. With the updated weaponry and defenses of the Border Patrol Guardians, their fear of the void lessened considerably. So, that even came and went away without causing any real impact to the guardians.
Meanwhile, Cedric's second clone was still roaming the bleak and lifeless lands of the Void.
The void was huge, serving as a prison for the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm. But even so, his clone managed to traverse its full expanse, seeing all that it has to offer. Of course he didn't offer much, but his clone still saw all of it. He even had it mapped out, and now a copy of this map lay on his office, serving as a basis for future plans.
However, because Void Shifts are a thing, this map will be unreliable eventually. But that doesn't matter too much. Since he was able to map it out once, Cedric could do it again and again. And who knows? Maybe he could find a pattern in the shifts and build something good from there.
That said, Cedric's main concern was sealing the main consciousness of the void for now. So long as Cedric knew that it could escape or be alerted at any given time, he wouldn't feel at ease. And that's why he's been working hard on this seal for many years now.
He wasn't alone in this effort...
After informing the Paragons and the Chancellors about this, they unanimously opened up their tomes and shared their wisdom with him. They gave him free access to their precious knowledge and legacy to peruse at his will, especially if it means dealing with the problem.
Thanks to this, Cedric's knowledge became deeper, not just in seals but in other matters as well. This wealth of knowledge is a gap that humans can't breach that easily, even with how fast they progressed.
It's because of their help that Cedric inched closer to success after each attempt; otherwise, it would take longer for him to reach this stage.
After reviewing his previous attempts and making a few adjustments, Cedric stood up once more and began another attempt. freeweɓnøvel.com

More time passed just like this...
Currently, Godwyn was in a good mood.
It's not because he scored another profitable deal or made a new business partner. It's because finally, after so many years, humanity now has a new Void Refinement Practitioner that didn't come from his family.
This person was someone from his father's era; his alias was 'Bullet Angel,' and he was good with mechs and firearms. He said that he was once Cedric's teammate and has looked up to him since.
Bullet Angel was a prodigy of his own. Unfortunately, Cedric's brilliance was so bright that it overwhelmed him. Still, because of the peace and prosperity he brought to the race, Bullet Angel was able to come this far.
Godwyn didn't inform him Cedric was his father. In fact, Bullet Angel didn't even know his name at all. He either calls him Boss, Leader, Governor, or uses his alias 'Sun Chaser.'
He also didn't bother telling him because it'd just make things awkward. The past is the past, after all. They have to focus on the present and the future.
Bullet Angel, though not as absurdly talented as the Stormriders, was pretty good himself. Had Cedric not been around, it'd probably be his era right now.
It took him quite some time, but now he has successfully stepped into the Void Refinement Stage, and currently, he's fulfilling his duties according to the agreement. He'd be serving as a Border Patrol Guardian for 50 years after his successful breakthrough; after that, it'll be up to him.
With Bullet Angel's appearance, humanity has gained another powerhouse they could rely on, another pillar that would hold up the skies for them. He came at a perfect time too because recently, humans had been in the spotlight.
Yeah, he and his brothers' little stunt a few years ago shocked the alliance. Even now, the rumors have yet to fade. They did take on an entire race each and forced them to kneel and surrender. Now, whenever an Infernal, a Sky Roc, or a Savage met any human, they would either show an extremely humble attitude or avoid them like the plague.
This attention caused a huge business boom, but it also brought a wave of headaches Godwyn had to take care of.
In the past year alone, there have been at least 10 attempts at spy infiltration of Solaris Prime. Every single one was caught and apprehended by the security measures Godwyn and his father installed.
The real headache was the politics, though...
Some cunning people tried to twist the situation around to their narrative, either aiming to smear humanity's reputation or give them more headaches to deal with, hoping to put them under so much pressure that they crumble from within.
Godwyn was initially prepared to deal with this, but surprisingly, it stopped after a few attempts, which confused him greatly.
What he didn't know is that it was Cedric's reputation that was behind this. The Border Patrol Office, even without Cedric's deliberate request for help or assistance, was very attentive to his needs.
To them, Cedric just wasn't a member or another leader; he was a pillar that's holding up the skies of the alliance. Without him, everything else will collapse.
So, when they discovered that some idiots were trying to pull Cedric into their filthy political struggles, the office immediately took swift and decisive action.
The races that tried plotting against Cedric were immediately placed under strict supervision and were pressured to send more people to the camp. The 'genius' who planned everything was forcibly drafted and turned into a Void Walker.
This operation frightened everybody. And not even the Societal Office could stop it. Every complaint or manipulation they tried to do to stop them was rendered useless. Their move was swift and tyrannical. Refusal meant immediate execution or full-on racial extermination.
When they finally connected the dots, at the center of it all was humans, more precisely, Cedric the Human Paragon.
At that point, they finally understood why the Border Patrol Office did that. It turns out that they truly kicked an ironing board, and they could only blame themselves for not looking at it properly first.
Since then, humans have become an untouchable existence in the alliance. Everybody talked behind their back and treated them as neutrally as they could so as to not alert them too much.
Godwyn was still on guard and suspicious of others, and Cedric remained absolutely unaware of this.
Life goes on, though. So long as everything's fine, they will continue moving forward.
Soon, though...very soon, Cedric would have to make a move again.
