Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Twilight Has Ended, and So Have We

"Didn’t you say the sunset in the back garden is beautiful?" Ashton Marshall raised an eyebrow, a faint smile playing at his lips.

Just that small change of expression made Bella Woods feel a sense of disorientation.

Earlier in the living room, he barely spoke, but his presence was overwhelming, as if he silently commanded everyone in the room, an existence no one dared to approach.

But now, he smiled at her, speaking with his head lowered next to her ear, making Bella feel like the lofty Third Young Master in the living room moments ago,

At this moment, was just her own Ashton’s uncle.

"Don’t want to show me?" Seeing that Bella wasn’t responding, Ashton reached out to pinch her cheek, tugging lightly at the corner of her mouth, "Still upset? Won’t you smile? Hmm?"

He slid his finger into the shape of a smile.

Bella took a moment to react, diverting her gaze, and led Ashton towards the back garden.

She forced herself to press down all the emotions from earlier, warning herself that Ashton’s first love had returned, and she needed to be considerate.

If.

If this were the last sunset they watched together, she hoped it would end romantically.

Bella thought Ashton might also want a romantic ending to their relationship.

The Woods Family’s back garden had a white swing, entwined with fresh, vibrant flowers that the gardener tended to tirelessly each day.

Just because Rose Woods loved sitting there to admire the sunset.

Bella actually liked it too, enjoyed the swing and loved the sunsets here, relished quietly watching the sunset at this time, but Rose wouldn’t allow it.

It was her exclusive seat, untouchable by anyone else, especially not Bella.

But now Bella didn’t care about Rose, she directly sat on the swing and insisted to Ashton, "Sit here and watch, the view is just right."

She smiled brightly, not wanting to leave any unpleasant memories in their last moments together.

Calvin Marshall had long gone to play elsewhere, giving them time to be alone.

Observing Bella’s expression, Ashton didn’t say much and sat beside her on the swing.

The swing was adjusted to Rose’s height, which conveniently matched Bella’s, her feet in white canvas shoes dangling naturally, slightly off the ground.

Ashton’s legs were much longer, his leather-shoed feet planted firmly on the ground.

Bella’s right leg pressed against Ashton’s, the canvas shoe and leather shoe at different heights.

As twilight descended, the orange light slowly spilled over the garden’s nurtured blooms, spreading to the man beside her.

Bella glanced sideways, watching the twilight cast across his face, rendering his skin translucent, his striking features like a vivid oil painting.

As she gazed entranced, Ashton suddenly lowered his head to look at her, pinching her chin and kissing her just as the orange light turned to red, bathing their joined bodies.

His kiss was gentle, forming the most romantic picture with the twilight.

As darkness consumed the twilight, their kiss ended, and so, perhaps, should their relationship.

Bella tried hard to smile, but couldn’t stop the tears from falling, "Ashton Marshall, since meeting you, I always felt lucky and grateful, for knowing you and for all your help."

So, I can’t be unreasonable after your love has returned, pretending nothing happened and clinging to you.

So, the words you can’t say, let me speak them.

"This is as far as we go." Bella got off the swing, "Wish you happiness and take care."

She said this and ran out immediately.

"Bella Woods." Ashton reached out to grab her but missed, as she had planned her escape after speaking.

Calvin, who was nearby playing with flowers, was startled when he saw Bella running out, "Why did you run out?"

"Sixty, let’s go. We’re not eating at home today." Bella held back her tears, unable to imagine having dinner there.

Calvin looked puzzled, glancing between Ashton who had chased out and Bella eager to leave.

In those few seconds, Calvin made a decision, "Alright, let’s go."

Bella was whisked away by Calvin.

Calvin’s motorcycle was parked nearby, with the key in the ignition. After they both got on, the bike roared to life, leaving the Woods Family behind.

As Ashton saw Calvin take Bella away, his face darkened to its extreme.

He immediately called his assistant to bring the car around, even made the assistant get out as he drove off to chase after Calvin and Bella himself.

The guests who were supposed to stay for dinner soon followed in their wake, this development reaching Ron Woods and Jade Patel, with Ron exploding on the spot.

Especially upon realizing Bella led Calvin to flee, prompting Ashton’s departure in turn, Ron was enraged to the point of nearly wrecking the living room.

"Look at the kind of daughter you raised!" Ron directly blamed Jade, "I originally thought, with Cyan Marshall recognizing her as a goddaughter, bringing benefits to the Woods Family, creating ties with Oliver Hughes, and even having connections with Third Young Master, that she’d be valuable enough for me to treat her better. Yet she’s like mud that won’t stick to the wall!"

Ron shouted insults at Jade, "What kind of children do you have in your womb!"

Rose was already sent away, leaving Bella as the only useful one, and this incident drove Ron to madness.

"Do you know, I spent thirty million on arrangements to entertain Third Young Master? How am I supposed to handle this thirty million now?"

Jade had no answer, not anticipating Bella’s actions.

"Can’t this child help the family just a bit, even slightly?" Jade truly felt Bella was utterly useless.

Constantly causing trouble, never obedient!

...

On the road leading from the Woods Family to the city.

Bella sat on the back of Calvin’s motorcycle, glancing back several times at Ashton’s car closing in.

"Sixty, speed up, I’ll be fine," Bella urged.

She knew Calvin was adept with bikes, capable of great speeds, but was holding back for her sake, worried she might be scared.

"Are you sure?" Calvin asked.

"Yes, I’m sure. I don’t want to be caught, please," Bella said.

She didn’t know why Ashton was chasing her, but she truly didn’t want him to catch up; she’d already said all she needed to. Facing Ashton again, she feared losing control of her emotions or not knowing what to say.

And more so...

Being unable to let go.

"Hold on tight!" Calvin reminded her.

Bella immediately clung to Calvin’s back, wrapping her arms around him tightly. Instantly, the motorcycle surged forward like a wild beast, and all Bella could hear was the fierce wind, rendering everything else inaudible!
