Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Ambitious Wolf, Target is Third Young Master Marshall

Bella Woods wanted to explain something, but seeing Ashton Marshall’s cold demeanor, she suddenly felt a bit timid.

She took a step back, keeping silent.

Ashton Marshall waited for over ten seconds, and seeing she said nothing, he got into the car.

The bodyguard closed the door, and then the convoy gradually drove away from the service area.

Bella Woods stood in place, watching the cars leave one by one.

"Miss Woods?" The bodyguard beside her asked.

Bella Woods retracted her gaze and got into the car.

"Miss Woods, are you going back to Cascade Court or the apartment?" The driver inquired.

Bella Woods was about to speak when her phone rang; it was Jade Patel calling.

As soon as the call was connected, Jade Patel’s commanding voice sounded: "I’ve discussed your conditions with your father, and we’ve agreed, but we need to talk about other things. Come home now."

Jade Patel hung up immediately after speaking, not giving Bella any chance to talk or refuse.

Bella felt quite irritated, and her heart was tired.

She wasn’t very willing to discuss these matters with the Woods at that moment.

But the issue was there; she had to face it even if she avoided it for a day or two. Better to deal with it in one go.

"To the Woods," Bella instructed the waiting driver with the address.

The driver, following Third Young Master Marshall’s orders, took her wherever she wanted to go.

The journey was uneventful.

The car arrived at the Woods.

"Miss Woods, would you like me to wait here for you?" the driver asked.

Bella instinctively wanted to refuse, but thinking it over, she realized she didn’t have much to say to the Woods.

"Please wait for a moment," she said.

After speaking, Bella stepped into the Woods’ house.

Upon entering the living room, seeing Ron Woods, Jade Patel, Rose Woods, and the Woods’ family lawyer seated there, Bella took a deep breath.

She approached them expressionlessly, "Dad, Mom."

"Ha, I must have a big face if you still call me dad," Ron Woods glanced at Bella, his words full of dissatisfaction and disdain.

Jade Patel, ever the peacemaker, said, "Oh, you’re all back; let’s sit down and talk."

She pulled Bella to sit beside her.

"Your father has agreed to what you mentioned earlier. If these contracts look fine to you, go ahead and sign them," Jade Patel pointed to the two identical contracts on the table.

Rose, who had been playing on her phone, her fingers making crisp sounds tapping on the screen, looked up at Bella upon hearing Jade’s words and sneered, "Quite capable, asking for 10% of Woods Clan Group’s profits right off the bat. Impressive."

"Rose," Jade Patel glared at Rose.

"Why are you scolding Rose? She’s not wrong," Ron Woods reprimanded Jade. "Asking for 10% profits right away, I hadn’t seen your ambition before."

"I think you got engaged to Oliver Hughes and flattered Cyan Marshall for a reason," Rose chimed in, "Or perhaps saving Cyan Marshall back then was intentional. Did you cause the car accident?"

"Wolves reveal their true nature; these things aren’t baseless," Ron Woods sneered coldly.

Sitting in the middle, Bella listened to the back-and-forth mockery from Ron and Rose without any emotional response on her face.

Although Jade didn’t like Bella, in Ron’s presence, she played the peacemaker role, speaking kindly as if she always sided with Bella.

Initially, Bella thought Jade cared for her, albeit sometimes unable to help.

But now, it seemed Jade enjoyed being the mediator when Ron was harsh. When Ron wasn’t around, Jade was even tougher than anyone else.

Bella didn’t want to define her parents with such thoughts, but sadly, she based her conclusions on her parents’ actions.

"Mr. Woods, Miss Woods, the contracts you sign today are legally binding. If breached in the future, it will entail legal responsibility," Lawyer Saunders tried to defuse the situation.

He was just an employee and didn’t want to get involved in family disputes.

"Enough, enough, no need for all that. I’ve asked the kitchen to prepare dinner; after signing the contracts, let’s have a meal as a family," Jade Patel handed the documents and pen to Bella.

Bella accepted them one by one but didn’t rush to sign, instead flipping through the contract clauses page by page.

Her actions suddenly angered Ron Woods: "Bella, what do you mean? After getting the benefit, you still pretend here? Pretending to read the contract, who are you guarding against?

And do you even understand what you’re looking at?"

Ron Woods raised his hand, intending to strike down the contracts from Bella’s hand.

Bella held them tightly, but her hand turned red. Pretending not to feel anything, she exposed a page with an additional clause.

The page was a template, generally implying that Bella must abide by Ron Woods’ demands, with a blank space for specific demands that would take effect once Bella signed.

Ron Woods could fill in whatever he wanted, and if Bella couldn’t fulfill it, it’d mean breaching the contract, requiring her to compensate tenfold the profits of the Woods’ temporary group.

"Bella, this is just for future additions; adding another contract could be a hassle, so it’s included here. Most contracts contain such clauses; don’t worry, just sign. Moreover, as your parents, would we ever harm our daughter, right?"

Jade Patel continued using her usual soothing tone with Bella.

But Bella didn’t buy it, extracting the clause and placing it on the table, pointing out many apparent loopholes.

"These clauses need revision; otherwise, I can’t sign," Bella concluded.

’Bang!’

Ron Woods completely lost it, slamming the table and standing up, pointing at Bella, "You demand 10% of Woods Clan Group’s earnings and still act all high and mighty here?!

And you still give me this attitude, don’t you!"

"I demand 10% of the profits, but with one word, I can help cover your millions in losses. It’s an equal transaction; I don’t think I’m overreaching," Bella responded formally.

"I think today’s contract doesn’t need signing. How about this: I don’t need that 10% profit, nor do I need to discuss anything about Cyan Marshall with you."

Bella stood up, ready to leave.

Ron Woods gave Jade Patel a look, and Jade hurriedly pulled Bella back, "Those clauses you mentioned can be discussed. We’ll have the lawyer revise them."

"Lawyer Saunders, please go back and correct the contract," Jade instructed Lawyer Saunders.

Seeing this, Lawyer Saunders quickly packed up and left the problematic scene.

Jade pulled Bella to sit down, "Since we need to talk, I’ll be straightforward with you. We can give you that 10%, but besides asking Cyan Marshall to help cover the loss, you also need to help us arrange a meeting with Third Young Master."
