Drift Of The Multiverse: [Marvel] [Resident Evil] [DC] [Bleach] [DB]-Chapter 215: Burning Away All Uncleanness
Chapter 215 - 215: Burning Away All Uncleanness
Michael Corvin turned his head, and what he saw was in stark contrast to the calm passersby around him. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
The chaotic subway station, bullets flying in all directions, rubble and dust spraying everywhere, innocent civilians lying on the ground—all of it was exactly the scene he had just been in, except now there was no sound.
"What is this?"
"Mirror Dimension."
Michael reached out again and touched the glass-like surface. This time, his hand was not sucked in, nor was he pulled through. When he exerted a little force, he found that his hand could not move forward at all, as if blocked by real glass.
"What is that?"
He heard Ethan's explanation, but he still did not understand what the Mirror Dimension was. Michael's intelligence was not low. He realized he had been drawn into something magical. As for the young man beside him, despite forcibly drawing a tube of blood, he seemed to bear no ill will toward him.
"You can think of it as a parallel space, identical to the real world but not interfering with it," Ethan explained briefly, trying to use words an ordinary person could understand. "Like a world inside a mirror."
Michael understood, but what he could not comprehend was why he had encountered such a thing. Perhaps magical powers did exist in this world, but in over thirty years of life, he had never encountered them. Even if they did exist, what did they have to do with him? Why was he suddenly caught up in it?
He didn't believe it was a mere coincidence. Ethan had reminded him several times already that the two groups had been targeting him.
"Why me?"
Standing there, in this safe place, watching the chaotic scene in the Mirror Dimension as if watching a movie in full immersion, Michael quickly calmed down and grew increasingly eager to know the truth.
"If you want to know, follow me."
Ethan waved lightly at the mirrored surface, and the smooth glass-like surface suddenly shattered into pieces. Without looking back at Michael, Ethan stepped directly through the broken mirror and into the real world.
Michael hesitated, looking at the fragmented mirror ahead, then glancing back at the stopped subway.
He now faced a choice.
Move forward, and he could uncover the truth behind today's events, find out what kind of mess he was involved in, and why he had been targeted. There was no doubt that ahead lay countless unknown risks.
Turn back, get on the subway, and leave this place. Maybe trouble would come knocking later, but if he fled the city, perhaps he would not encounter such bizarre incidents again.
After a brief hesitation, he resolutely stepped forward, crossing through the shattered mirror and following Ethan into the Mirror Dimension.
The sound of gunfire and the screams of the injured assaulted his ears once more. Michael was immediately reminded of the situation. A stray bullet struck the pillar next to him, spraying fragments that scratched his cheek, causing him to stumble and fall to the ground.
Touching the spot where he had been hit and finding no blood, he realized he was not injured. Then his gaze fell on a woman lying wounded not far away.
He did not know the woman, but as a doctor, his instincts kicked in. He immediately tried to rush to help her, only for Ethan to grab him back just as he stood.
"Relax, that woman isn't real. It's just an illusion I created."
One reason Ethan was willing to help Michael was precisely because Michael was a good person. Even in danger, he still thought to help others. Such people were worth the effort.
"An illusion?"
Michael didn't fully understand Ethan's words, but when Ethan lightly waved his hand, everything in the Mirror Dimension was restored. The tragic battlefield vanished without a trace.
The wounded people lying on the ground also disappeared, leaving only the two of them and the four who had been in a fierce firefight—though with one now fallen, only three remained engaged.
Now, Michael understood what the so-called illusion meant. Everything he had seen was fake, created by the magical abilities of the stranger beside him.
"Is this... magic?"
"Sharp observation."
Ethan smiled and walked past Michael, heading straight toward the few remaining fighters.
The tall black man and the white male raised their weapons, watching Ethan approach with wary eyes.
They might not have been very smart, but even they noticed something was wrong. The previously chaotic subway station had suddenly turned deathly quiet and clean. Even the damage caused by the earlier gunfight had vanished. No matter how slow one was, it was obvious something strange was going on.
At this moment, a complete stranger suddenly appeared. It didn't take a genius to realize he was the cause.
"Who are you?"
Ethan's eyes settled on the big black man. In the previous shootout, he had caused the most casualties. With two Uzis, he had swept the crowd indiscriminately. In his eyes, humans were no different from ants. Collateral damage was simply irrelevant.
Even if someone obstructed his mission to capture vampires, he would kill indiscriminately to vent his anger.
The black man reacted quickly. He raised his gun without hesitation and pulled the trigger.
A barrage of bullets was unleashed. Yet strangely, it was not Ethan who was hit, but the white male standing behind the black man, who was torn into pieces by the gunfire.
Standing behind Ethan, Michael instinctively ducked, but halfway down he realized Ethan had not moved at all. Despite being directly in the line of fire, Ethan remained untouched, while the black man's companion was turned into a bloodied corpse.
Realizing there was no danger beside Ethan, Michael straightened up.
"Was that also... magic?"
"It's not easy to hurt me inside a Mirror Dimension I created."
The mages of Kamar Taj were particularly adept at manipulating space and matter. Although Ethan's grasp of such spells was not deep, his continuous research into space-time energy, combined with obtaining the Cosmic Cube, gave him an almost infinite supply of spatial energy to study. His attainments in space magic had naturally improved.
Among the spells he now mastered, the ones derived from the Cosmic Cube were most compatible with the techniques of the Kamar Taj lineage. As a result, he had achieved a high level of mastery over the Mirror Dimension.
He could throw anyone into the Mirror Dimension he created without them even realizing it. Even Loki hadn't detected it. Within the Mirror Dimension, he could twist and fold the fabric of space at will. For example, Ethan might appear to be standing in front of you, but in reality, he could be beside or behind you. You might reach forward and find your hand emerging from the side or above.
Of course, twisting space consumed mana, so Ethan would not use it lightly. Moreover, if the opponent's strength was high enough, they could break the space distortion. Diana, for example, could probably shatter it with a single heavy punch.
Thus, Ethan was far from invincible, even within his own Mirror Dimension. However, against the werewolves and vampires of this world... he was unquestionably invincible.
Ethan did not stop walking. The black man showed no panic after his weapon proved useless. Instead, he discarded his guns and began transforming into a werewolf.
"Tsk."
To the werewolf's shock, Ethan, who had still been some distance away and moving at a relaxed pace, suddenly appeared right beside him with a faint, disdainful sound. At the same moment, Ethan lightly patted the transforming werewolf with a hand glowing with a soft yellow light.
"Aaaargh!"
A miserable howl echoed throughout the space. Before Michael could even react, the werewolf that had been undergoing a grotesque transformation suddenly burst into a giant torch. The golden flames consuming him radiated a sacred feeling, though paired with the agonized howls, the scene was utterly bizarre.
Ethan calmly watched the burning werewolf. The power of the Holy Light Fire was stronger than he expected. Although this werewolf was a product of viral mutation, in the eyes of the Holy Light, it was still a dark and evil existence to be purified. Under the extreme restraining effect, the werewolf was burned to ashes without leaving a soul behind.
"Is it because this Holy Light is based on human faith?"
In human belief, werewolves were undoubtedly dark creatures, so it was natural for them to be so heavily restrained.
Of course, it could also be because this particular werewolf had committed too many atrocities, and the Holy Light had responded accordingly to the sin it sensed.
Whichever the case, Ethan was very satisfied with his newly "mastered" power. If he destroyed all the vampires and werewolves in this city, the chances of attracting Alexander Corvinus would rise severalfold.
