Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 1217 - 1218: Preparing the Lanterns
Chapter 1217: Chapter 1218: Preparing the Lanterns
"Human form?!"
Seeing Long Boduo snort and transform into a black-haired young man, everyone was a bit surprised. It wasn’t that they found the idea of Divine Beasts turning into humans incredible—in fact, Qi Chen, Zhong Liuyan, and the others were well aware of this. It was really just the average classmates who might be astonished. However, they all knew that many Divine Beasts are disdainful of taking on human forms.
Take Agunas for example, although it always followed Feng Yuan, it certainly doesn’t have a human form. This isn’t because it can’t, but because it doesn’t want to. On the contrary, Long Boduo hardly ever comes to human society—why would it have one?
"What do you think of this? Gitalien said it’s not proper to move in human society without a human form, and I feel the same way~"
The black-haired young man looked at Feng Yuan with an eager expression, and tail swishing, Agunas asked somewhat curiously,
"Don’t you hardly ever go to human living areas? What’s the point of you adopting this form?"
"Gitalien said it’s more convenient to have a human form."
"That guy is simply fooling you—are you really comfortable with a human form?"
Rolling its eyes, Agunas didn’t know what else to say. Seeing Long Boduo sway, it wasn’t hard to guess that it was not at all accustomed to moving in a human form.
Feng Yuan glanced at Agunas with an amused expression,
"That’s not necessarily true. Moving in human society in human form is indeed much better than in one’s original form. Didn’t you forget last time we brought it out to eat? So many people paid attention to it, but it would be different in human form."
"This..." freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Exactly, how could Gitalien deceive me? By the way, when are we going to that place to eat again? I didn’t get enough last time~"
As Long Boduo spoke, saliva began to drool out—helpless, since the food in the Netherworld is in rather short supply, and it basically hadn’t left the Netherworld until then. Naturally, it hadn’t experienced much of human cuisine. Although the souls in the Netherworld would use its ingredients to create some special delicacies, well... the relatively barren Netherworld didn’t have that many ingredients to begin with, and those souls aren’t always around. After so many years, Long Boduo had long since grown tired of Netherworld cuisine.
"This... Do you have any tasks coming up?"
Hesitating for a moment, Feng Yuan asked Long Boduo. Hearing Feng Yuan’s question, Qi Chen quickly realized what Feng Yuan was planning, though it didn’t seem to be a bad idea. After all, the more companions for a journey, the merrier.
After careful recall, Long Boduo looked at Feng Yuan with a puzzled expression and said,
"It seems not. I’m not responsible for patrolling the Netherworld during this period. Why, is there something?"
"How about going on a trip together? We could set off in the next few days. Compared to the food in the small streets here, other cities have their own unique cuisines."
"It seems... really nice~"
Hearing Feng Yuan’s suggestion, Long Boduo responded with some excitement. At this moment, Chen Xin’s shouting drew everyone’s attention away from Long Boduo to the lanterns.
"You want to make one yourself?"
Looking at the small Yan Fort Spirit with some surprise, Feng Yuan said. Although the lanterns were all ready-made, one could still add decorations and some special ultimate moves to them. At that moment, the Yan Fort Spirit was drawing special array patterns on a stone flower-shaped lantern. Seeing those patterns, Feng Yuan guessed that its parents must not be Black Stone Yan Fort Spirits because those Fate Series patterns had many errors.
Rather than misremembering, it could be said that those were just ordinary decorative patterns modified from the original Fate Series magic array patterns for the sake of aesthetics.
Seeing the Yan Fort Spirit nod, Feng Yuan turned to Xiao Ji. Despite all of Chen Xin’s prepared lanterns being in the shape of various flowers, Xiao Ji insisted on modifying them to look like Eggshell Chickens. However, Xiao Ji’s hands-on skills were not very good, which only meant that the more it tried, the worse it got.
With a light chuckle, Feng Yuan took the lantern, which was almost falling apart due to Xiao Ji’s fumbling, from its claws and began to toy with it. Long Boduo had little desire to modify it further, merely fiddling with it a bit before inserting some pre-prepared accessories and getting ready to release the lantern.
Veronia brought out a good deal of gold paint from the World of Mirrors and patiently painted the lantern, shaped like a gloriously blooming flower, into a brilliant golden color. Witnessing this scene, Agunas didn’t even know how to comment on such behavior. Sensing Agunas’s ’malicious’ gaze, Veronia snorted coldly and turned her back to block his view.
Wagging its tail, Agunas, much like Long Boduo, wasn’t particularly interested in the lantern and thought casually tinkering with it was enough. Unlike the others who used pre-prepared decorations, Agunas instead used a spell, and Feng Yuan couldn’t help but feel it was odd to see Magic Text continuously emanating from the lantern.
Little Ice Cream was earnestly competing with the lantern, which was not much smaller than itself. Its telekinetic power was clearly better utilized than Xiao Ji’s. Even though the lantern didn’t turn out exactly as it wanted, it didn’t end up in the worsening state like Xiao Ji’s did. Big Cat sat on the grass, continually manipulating the decorations and his own lantern with telekinesis, as a grass-woven doll shaped like Big Cat steadily stood atop the lantern.
Seeing this, Big Cat meowed with pride, looking towards Feng Yuan, only to notice him helping Xiao Ji with its lantern. Glancing at his own creation, Big Cat fell silent for a moment before starting to quietly add decorations to it.
Kong Qing watched Pomiti tinkering with the lantern, occasionally guiding her through the process. Like Agunas, Kong Qing wasn’t much interested in lantern releasing either. But since Pomiti seemed quite perplexed with the whole thing, and without his guidance, it was doubtful she could manage to complete it on her own, he decided to join her and work on a lantern together.
"Alright, that should do it."
Looking at the finally completed lantern, which now bore the form of an Eggshell Chicken perched on top of a flower, Feng Yuan was at a loss for words regarding Xiao Ji’s peculiar taste.
Chirping happily, Xiao Ji rubbed its head against Feng Yuan, who smiled and turned his gaze towards Big Cat and the others. Seeing Big Cat’s lantern, Feng Yuan approached and gently patted its back, saying,
"Not bad at all—this lantern is nicely done. Have you all finished? Shall we go see Qi Chen and the others’ lanterns?"
With a mischievous grin, Feng Yuan made the suggestion. Just then, Qi Chen arrived with Ah Mu and, after giving Feng Yuan a speechless look, said,
"What are you scheming now? But sorry, we’ve already finished our lantern."
With that, Qi Chen had Ah Mu show the lantern they had protected and worked on together. Unlike Feng Yuan’s, their lantern, entwined with delicate vines and flowers, turned out to be one size larger due to the decorations being wrapped around its exterior.
Before Feng Yuan could respond, Cotton hopped up in front of Qi Chen with a lantern, triumphantly swishing its tail. Dou Yanlan came over with a light laugh and said,
"Cotton, you really are something..."
Watching Cotton presenting its lantern as if it were a treasured gift, Dou Yanlan helplessly lifted the lantern from its head and picked up Cotton. With a meow, Cotton settled into Dou Yanlan’s arms, searching for a comfortable position to curl up in.
Surprised by the exquisite lantern in Dou Yanlan’s hands, Qi Chen exclaimed,
"Yanlan, did you make this yourself?"
As the sound of crunching snacks began, Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan exchanged a smile and walked away. Watching them go off into the distance, Feng Yuan quickly stashed away his snacks and looked in the direction of Zhong Liuyan and Pei Yu, commenting,
"Forget it, no point in asking for trouble."
Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan but couldn’t be bothered to say anything. After all, both Chen Xin and Lanadi had a soft spot for him; it was his own fear of committing that was the problem—not theirs. But the thought of being afraid... perhaps...
With that in mind, Agunas’s gaze shifted to Xiao Ji following closely behind Feng Yuan, its eyes steadfastly fixed on the lantern in his hand that he was helping to carry, as if worried something might go wrong with it.
Flicking its tail, Agunas no longer had the inclination to say anything more. It wouldn’t be easy to explain to Xiao Ji anyway, given that it hadn’t been born long ago. Kong Qing hissed something to Agunas, who gave it a look and thought for a moment before saying,
"I don’t know about that. Do you feel the same way too?"
Kong Qing kept hissing in response, glancing occasionally at Xiao Ji with peripheral vision, seemingly afraid that it might overhear their conversation.
