Chapter 1062: Chapter 163: Stepping Out and the Anomaly

"Huh, how about sleeping a bit longer?"

The groggy little Husky, lying atop Xiao Ji, yawned and said to Qi Chen. When Agunas, opening the door, glanced at Feng Yuan, he said with an annoyed tone,

"Wasn’t it you who wanted to go out and play? It’s almost ten o’clock. If we don’t leave now, are you sure there’s enough time to do anything today?"

The little Husky’s ears twitched as it buried its head in its front paws before suddenly snapping to attention, leaping off and landing on the floor. Wiggling its tail, it exclaimed,

"I almost forgot!"

"But I’m still so sleepy... Qi Chen, lend me Ah Mu later..."

As the little Husky spoke, it flopped down onto the ground, displaying an utter lack of will to move. Qi Chen, casting a speechless glance at the little Husky, said,

"What nonsense are you talking about? Ah Mu certainly can’t take you into public places like that."

Even if Feng Yuan, as a small Husky, had a manageable size, Ah Mu would need to maintain its normal size to be able to carry him. But Ah Mu, at that size... not only would public places be out of the question, but even at home, it wouldn’t be feasible considering the limited space within the house.

After yawning, Feng Yuan transformed back into his original form and lazily stretched before saying,

"It’s a pity Big Cat isn’t here, otherwise I could have ridden on its head..."

"And what about Pomiti?"

Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and said with dismay. This guy... Lorna looked somewhat puzzled at Kong Qing, who was sleeping beneath the table. Although Kong Qing had just picked a spot at random before its evolution, its current size seemed rather... cramped for sleeping there?

"Yeah, how about riding on Kong Qing’s head~"

Spotting Kong Qing, Feng Yuan’s eyes lit up with excitement as he spoke. Qi Chen rolled his eyes and, feeling helpless, said,

"Suit yourself, just come down and eat, breakfast is getting cold."

"Huh?"

Feng Yuan looked over at the wall clock, puzzled; it was ten-thirteen. Upon seeing Feng Yuan’s reaction and guessing what he might be thinking, Qi Chen said,

"That’s specially left for you. My mom had to go out, so she cooked it first and left it there waiting for you."

Leaving ingredients for Feng Yuan to cook himself after he woke up wasn’t an issue, but Qi Chen’s mother didn’t think this was the best approach. Therefore, she had left breakfast for him and only then went out, adding to the fact that Qi Chen didn’t believe that Feng Yuan had stayed up late, hence why he cooked and called him to get up.

"I thought she was going to head out with us."

Feng Yuan looked at Qi Chen in surprise. He really had assumed so, but it turned out he was wrong. Qi Chen eyed Feng Yuan speechlessly and said,

"Do you think she’d have fun following us around?"

It wasn’t about being unwelcoming. It was just that with the age difference, everyone liked different things. It was fine to shop together, but going out to play was another matter, unless it’s a family outing or picnic; otherwise, it’s difficult to go out together.

With an indescribable expression, Feng Yuan muttered,

"But these opportunities will only get fewer and fewer. Oh well, it’s not as fun without everyone."

Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan, not quite understanding what he meant. Hugging Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan said,

"Let’s go, it’s time to eat~"

"So where have we decided to go? Just so you know, I’m absolutely not going to places like the big library."

Qi Xiaoshuang inquired, and then suddenly remembered something and warned. Glancing at Qi Xiaoshuang with a speechless expression, Feng Yuan said while eating,

"How could I? Why would I take you guys to the big library?"

He might take friends from out of town, considering that Maomu City didn’t have many attractions except for the large library, a rather grand old building. Surely, they couldn’t go playing around in department stores or such; that would be too odd.

As for Qi Chen and the others, being locals, it certainly wasn’t necessary. After contemplating, Feng Yuan, with chopsticks in his mouth, suggested,

"How about we go take a look at the stray Spirit Beasts?"

"Stray Spirit Beasts? They’re rather hard to find at this time."

Qi Xiaoshuang seemed startled for a moment as she looked up at the clock on the wall and spoke. To her knowledge, those stray Spirit Beasts usually hid in secluded corners during the day and only appeared in people’s line of sight around meal times. However, most of the time, they would go to public institutions known for feeding them and wait politely at the door.

It wasn’t mealtime, and even if I carried food with me, it would probably be hard to find them. But feeding the stray spirit beasts? That seemed like a not-so-bad idea; she had just recently done this with a classmate.

"No need to search, there’s an experimental Stray Spirit Beast Paradise in the square. I’ve got nothing else to do; might as well see how they’re living now."

"Stray Spirit Beasts?"

Lorna pondered while holding her little teacup, not sure what she was thinking about. After a while, she said,

"Why would they set up something like this? This idea seems to be nothing more than a proposal even within the Alliance."

"It’s just an experiment, after all. No one knows whether it’ll affect the spirit beasts or not, and more and more of them are staying in the city these days."

Feng Yuan said nonchalantly. As to whether those spirit beasts had run over from the wild or for some particular reasons, he didn’t know.

"By the way, is Dou Yanlan free? Should we invite her along?"

Looking towards Qi Chen, Feng Yuan asked with a mischievous smile. Glancing at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen said irritably,

"Are you planning to finish off all your dog food before school starts?"

"Tsk!"

"Are those really ears?"

Qi Xiaoshuang asked curiously, poking at the pair of Husky ears on Feng Yuan’s head. The ears moved and turned slightly. Feng Yuan, looking at Qi Xiaoshuang speechlessly, said,

"What else?"

"What are you doing with those things?"

Qi Chen was puzzled as he looked at Feng Yuan. He didn’t quite understand what this guy was up to. Shaking his ears, Feng Yuan looked around and said,

"I don’t know why, but I feel like someone is watching me. I’m not sure if there’s any malice."

"Someone is watching you?"

Qi Chen knitted his brows. Dou Yanlan couldn’t come because she had to take care of her mother. Alone, he found it hard to figure this out. Thinking of this, Qi Chen looked at Qi Xiaoshuang for a moment then shook his head. She was still too young; it wasn’t right to expose her to too much of this kind of thing.

Although he didn’t know what had happened, he guessed it might have something to do with the ’adult world.’ As for why they were targeting Feng Yuan? Judging by his situation of being so familiar with several divine beasts, it was only because of his frightening power and the intimidating attitude of those divine beasts that he was just being watched. Otherwise, he suspected that guy would probably have already been annoyed to no end.

"I don’t know. It feels like they’re looking at me, but it’s not quite like that either. At least I don’t sense any danger."

Scratching his head, Feng Yuan said something a bit odd. Shaking his ears, Feng Yuan pointed at the Husky ears on his head and said,

"Don’t you think it’s kind of fun?"

"Not really. It just feels weird."

Qi Xiaoshuang said speechlessly with a glance at Feng Yuan. His ears drooped in disappointment. But in just a moment, those Husky ears perked up again. After shaking his ears, Feng Yuan looked at Little Ice Cream on his shoulder. The little one was curiously looking around, not sleeping but sitting quietly on his shoulder without causing any fuss.

The corners of his mouth turned up slightly as Feng Yuan said softly,

"Looks like there’s going to be fun today~"

"What are you up to now?"

Qi Chen looked warily at Feng Yuan. With that expression, he probably wanted to stir up trouble again. Observing the surroundings, there were tourists all around. Was it really a good idea to cause a scene here? Wasn’t he afraid of summoning the Elder Council again?

"Hey! Why are you looking at me like that!"

Feng Yuan looked at Qi Chen with a face full of grievance. Glancing at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen said grumpily,

"Please, can you not make a scene in public? Aren’t you afraid of the Elder Council coming after you again if you really cause trouble?"

"Tsk! It’s not me who started it."

Feng Yuan retorted disdainfully. Qi Xiaoshuang quietly glanced around and whispered,

"Is someone really out to get you?"

"Sort of, but I’m not their main target. I didn’t expect them to be so bold."

Feng Yuan sighed. This area was a test zone for the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise, not only patrolled frequently by security but also occasionally monitored by the Special Duty Team. He truly hadn’t expected those people to be so audacious.
