Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 1024 - 1025
Chapter 1024: 1025
"Have you brought the equipment?"
Feng Yuan looked at the researchers, as for mentioning Meng Binglan? The other party might not know what equipment was needed, the leading middle-aged man nodded and said,
"It’s all in the room, are you planning on..."
"How about the grassland out back? They shouldn’t be occupying it today, right?"
Feng Yuan asked Yun You, somewhat unsure because Cotton Orchid Manor didn’t have much free space, so using the grassland where the Cotton Orchid Spirit Beasts lived didn’t seem like a strange idea.
"They did plan to use it today, but I can coordinate that, just a moment."
Yun You said with a slight smile and then turned to leave, leaving Meng Binglan looking curiously at Feng Yuan,
"Why must you go to the grassland? Isn’t the room fine?"
"A place like the dining hall? We might not be able to fit the equipment there and it wouldn’t be convenient to move around."
Feng Yuan explained as he looked around. It wasn’t that it couldn’t be done indoors, but whether in the hall or elsewhere, there were quite a few things in the way. To use the space, those things had to be moved first and then moved back afterward, a hassle Feng Yuan didn’t want.
"No problem, you’re talking about the large lawn behind the manor?"
The middle-aged man said with a small smile, clearly not one to ungratefully question others’ decisions. Now that even the Spirit Beasts had been brought by Gitalien, and they had not helped at all, they surely couldn’t question the other party’s decisions.
"Yes, there’s plenty of room there. I’ll go over and take a look."
It seemed like he remembered something; Feng Yuan stood up immediately with Xiao Ji and the others and left. Qi Chen looked puzzled at Feng Yuan and asked,
"What’s gotten into him? Why such eagerness?"
"I’m not sure, but it seems like he’s avoiding something?"
Dou Yanlan said, a bit confused. She didn’t quite understand the situation. Feng Yuan himself shouldn’t be so proactive, especially as Yun You had already gone to coordinate, so why would he take the initiative to go too?
Gitalien, on the other hand, understood why that guy wanted to slip away. After glancing at Qi Chen, he thought for a moment and then said,
"Give me a tour around here, I’m curious to see what sets this facility apart from other resorts."
Although neither Qi Chen nor Dou Yanlan quite understood why Gitalien would say that, they exchanged a glance and followed the standing Gitalien. Seeing Gitalien carrying cake and leading Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan away, Meng Binglan was momentarily stunned and said,
"That’s... really..."
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked somewhat bewildered at Su Wen and said,
"Is there a problem? Why do they all seem to be escaping?"
"I don’t know... what could be the issue?"
Su Wen said with a perplexed face, truly not understanding what was going on, but it seemed Cen Chudie recalled something and said,
"Oh! I forgot I still need to tidy up my room today. Can you help me with that?"
Seeing Cen Chudie’s pleading look, Cheng Xiaoxiao, although feeling it strange, nodded and left with her. Meng Binglan had just put down his phone and saw that other than them, there was no one else left in the room, the middle-aged man said with a wry smile,
"We wouldn’t have asked them for help..."
The young man behind him chuckled slightly. Although there would be work to do later, he found these people’s actions amusing. The woman glanced at the young man and said,
"I warn you, don’t fall into the toilet later, or I won’t spare you."
"What exactly is going on? Why are they running out here?"
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked back as they had already gotten a considerable distance from the dining area, Cen Chudie stopped and looked around before asking,
"Don’t you know how troublesome this research equipment can be?"
Cen Chudie looked at Su Wen and Cheng Xiaoxiao with some bewilderment, and they shook their heads. Su Wen asked in puzzlement,
"Is it just a bit larger in size? That shouldn’t be a problem for them," she mused.
She had moved research equipment before, and although it was heavy, it wasn’t a big deal with the help of a Spirit Beast. However, she hadn’t exerted much effort herself back then, after all, the Little Green Snake couldn’t carry things and lending her its strength didn’t add much to her own. It seemed like moving it wasn’t a problem for those boys either.
"Doesn’t your school have any research equipment related to Spirit Beasts, like Energy Fluctuation Imaging Recorders or Life Detectors?"
Cen Chudie looked at Su Wen curiously as the latter shook her head and said,
"I haven’t heard of those things. Our school mostly has equipment for analyzing potions; we probably wouldn’t need that kind of stuff..."
Leaning against the wall with a hint of resignation, Cen Chudie suggested,
"Why don’t you try auditing classes at our academy? Given Qingyu’s current condition, they should allow it."
"Not having used those devices could pose problems in the future."
Surprised by Cen Chudie’s comment, Su Wen asked,
"Aren’t you a student of potion studies?"
"Yes, but evolution-related material is part of our curriculum, and those devices are troublesome..."
Cen Chudie’s expression turned sour as she glanced toward the direction of the restaurant and continued,
"When moving them, you have to be careful not to make big movements, and the devices are easily disrupted by the energy of Spirit Beasts. Usually, there’s shielding equipment to protect them, but that protection definitely can’t be maintained during transport, so Spirit Beasts can’t help, nor can you use a Beastmaster’s strength..."
"Those things aren’t very heavy, are they?"
Su Wen seemed to recall something unpleasant and asked with some fear, nodding, Cen Chudie sighed and said,
"That’s the thing. The equipment is heavy and hard to move. A single mishap, and just the repair costs could give us a major headache. Perhaps that’s why your school hasn’t invested in those items."
Although she specialized in potion studies, don’t forget she’s actually a student at Maomu Academy and inevitably holds the status of a Beastmaster, naturally being in a different league than a typical university student when it comes to earning money. Yet, even so, accidentally damaging the equipment would still be very painful for them, making for several tough months ahead, no question.
"Indeed, I remember those devices being expensive on their own, not to mention the repair costs, which are never low. The cheapest, I think, is about the same as the full price for brand new equipment currently used at your school."
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Su Wen as she spoke. In reality, not all university students were without wealthy backgrounds, but the school couldn’t take the gamble. After all, they couldn’t match the income-generating power of academy students. If the school had to shoulder all the losses? That was something even academies couldn’t manage, let alone them.
"That makes sense. I used to think you could only get your hands on those devices at research institutes. I never imagined academies would have them, though it’s not surprising."
Su Wen laughed at herself. If it were only a matter of better teachers, why would most people aim to get into an academy? Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at Qingyu behind her and chuckled lightly, saying,
"But, as you stand now, you’re not necessarily worse off than academy students."
"That’s true~"
Su Wen smiled and hugged Qingyu’s probing head. Just then, a loud neighing sound broke the silence, and a black steed ran past them. Cen Chudie was caught off guard and asked in surprise,
"What was that peculiar Spirit Beast just now?"
"I don’t know, it looked strange and didn’t seem like a common Spirit Beast. You don’t recognize it?"
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Cen Chudie, puzzled, and she shook her head,
"I haven’t seen it before. Maybe it’s a stray from some strange place."
"Could it be here for him?"
Su Wen guessed a possibility. After all, if Gitalien could come looking for Feng Yuan, it wouldn’t be strange for other Divine Beasts to seek him out. Thinking of this, Cen Chudie gave an awkward smile,
"It seems so. I don’t know why so many Divine Beasts seek him out..."
"Let’s not worry about him for now. There shouldn’t be any problem. More to the point, would you consider auditing classes at our academy? You could get hands-on experience with those devices~"
Seeing Cen Chudie’s ’creepy old uncle tempting a little girl’ expression, Cheng Xiaoxiao quietly watched with a light chuckle. Su Wen, feeling somewhat tempted, said,
"That does seem... nice, but really, I can?"
She had heard of audit students at the academy, but she had rarely seen one, since Maomu Academy didn’t have many to begin with.
