Chapter 204: A Pig Wearing A Gold Ring

Thinking back to that night, Luther vividly remembered the rabid look in Ethan’s eyes and how he felt overly cautious standing next to him by the sea side.

They had agreed to meet somewhere a good distance from the city, so they could discuss undisturbed.

Or so Luther imagined.

"I’m telling you, this B.G is very suspicious, they’re expecting me to believe that they’ll help me out just in exchange for Cassie?!" He scoffed, he reached into the jacket he had on and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.

"It’s a load of bullshit, if you ask me, I think they want to take advantage of the situation and take over my agency. I don’t even trust that Grayson heir either, everything is happening all too coincidentally." He went on, stealing glances at Ethan, who hadn’t said a word the entire time, but had his hands buried in his pockets.

The sound of the waves trashing didn’t help ease his anxiety, after successfully lighting his cigarette, he popped the question that had been on his mind.

"My Cassie, she’s being targeted by someone, but I can’t investigate while I’m being hunted by the police. I need you to do something about the lawsuit, so I can finally return to my rightful position-" he was saying, only for Ethan to laugh.

At first it was a slight chuckle, but swiftly it morphed into hysterics, with Ethan’s voice drowning out the sound of the waves. He took a step forward, Luther reflexively took two back, maintaining a civil distance.

His eyes narrowed, he asked, "Is that so?"

Ethan took a puff, using his free palm to block the cigarette from going out. Mindlessly he replied, "You need to do it quick, the longer I sit back, the faster they’ll come for Cassie and try to ruin her. Also, I’ll need a place to stay, somewhere the police can’t trace," he recalled the rundown place he had been staying, a chill cascaded his spine.

"I’ll need somewhere clean too, a place I can be comfortable until everything is sorted out." He swiftly added. While he spoke, he noticed Ethan’s gaze pointed everywhere but at him, as though he was surveying the area.

For some moments, they both stood in silence, until Ethan broke the silence with a surprising announcement. "That is a pity, because I only came here to tell you my company is officially dropping Cassie as our ambassador." he calmly announced.

At first, Luther just stared at Ethan in perplexity, making sure he heard right he probed, "Ethan, what the hell did you just say?"

He repeated, "I’m dropping that bitch! Did you not hear me the first time?!"

His words which should’ve come as a slap to the face surprisingly did not faze Luther. Balancing his cigarette effortlessly between two fingers he retorted, "Calm down, you’re scaring me." His calm demeanor did not match his words.

Pointing the cigarette at him he said, "Those online flies can be dealt with easily, and in no time people won’t remember a single thing that happened." He took a step closer and rested his hand on Ethan’s shoulder, then gave it a tight squeeze.

A grin plastered on his face he lecturered, "People will be too focused on your wedding to care, and don’t forget this works in your interest too, since there’s talk going about that you’re hiding a wife and child. Everything checks out-"

Ethan grabbed Luther by the wrist, forcefully taking his hand off him and giving it a tight squeeze. "You talk too damn much, are you aware?"

The cigarette dropped, and so did Luther’s jaw. "Ethan you’re hurting me-"

"You have some nerve calling me out here and giving me orders. Why the hell would I do that? Huh? Don’t you think you’re overpricing the worth of that slut?" He squeezed harder, earning wincing out of Luther.

Talking over his whimpers, Ethan mentioned, "It’s just as you said, rumours will always die out. With Cassie constantly embarrassing herself, why would I need to lift a finger? With you away from her, she’ll self destruct, the damned bitch would tank her career in one night! And only she would take the blame." He analysed, giving Luther a dreadful fright.

"How dare you?! Do you think you’re untouchable?! She’s carrying your child-"

He cut him off, "And?!" He raised his voice, startling Luther into shutting up.

In a louder voice he looked him in the eye and said, "Why would Halton Inc keep the daughter of a worthless lowlife like you as our ambassador? Do you think I’m stupid? I let your bitch act out because you promised to get my wife back. But seeing as you’re all utterly useless, I have no need to help you out of your problem."

Laughing he went on, "Maybe getting trampled on will teach that bitch a thing or two and she’ll finally learn her place." free𝑤ebnovel.com

Content with the message passed, he shoved Luther to the sand and turned to leave, however, Luther’s next pair of words stopped him.

"Learned her place?" he got up, slapping the sand off his pants, "That’s rich coming from you. Between the both of us, who is the real worthless lowlife?"

Ethan stopped and slipped his hands back into his pockets, "What was that?"

"Did you not hear me, ’Ethan’?" His name was uttered in a taunting tone, he trudged over to him, a cynical smile on his face. "A pig should never wear a gold ring, because it won’t ever know it’s value." He reached for his shoulder again, "No matter how many layers of expensive clothes a beggar wears, he can’t trade who he really is. He just needs to look in the mirror and see what he really is..."

In a loud whisper he got on his tiptoe to say, "Nothing but a fa-" he was saying but got cut off by the sharp pain piercing at his abdomen.

Luther’s eyes went round, he tried to back away, but Ethan grabbed him by the hand, and shoved his pocket knife in even deeper!
