Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 182: Difficulty In Blocking
Chapter 182: Difficulty In Blocking
Brooke felt all eyes on her throughout the blocking session for her first scene. She had tried to pour most of her concentration into memorizing the position of the cameras, but the side talks and obvious gazes kept jabbing at her focus.
"Cut!" Director Flynn yelled from his high chair, he dropped his mega phone on the table next to him and signalled Brooke over.
Keeping her head down she walked over, her finger twisting her hair. "Director-"
"I told you that I don’t have the time to train any rookies, this movie is scheduled to release at the end of the year. That’s less than four months from now." He explained, giving Brooke new information.
"But why?" She raised her head.
"Our analysts projected that if we release this film any later it’ll lose its relevance. We need to strike now while the iron is still hot." He folded his arms across his chest, "And that means you need to pull your shit together."
He looked over her shoulder at Dylan, who had his focus on his phone. "It’s Dylan’s first role too, but he was able to pin this down in two takes, this is your sixth take Brooke."
Brooke nodded, "I’m aware I’m dragging everyone down-"
Director Flynn sighed, he hadn’t meant to sound this harsh, but with the pressure of the release date pushed forward his roadmap had to be modified.
"You know what? You can have the rest of the day off. I know it’s early, but you and Dylan can start intimacy training together." Said the director, as he searched the pockets of his faded green jacket.
He pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts. "I’ll have the nude scene choreographer have their first meet with you today."
Brooke bit her cheeks, her ears reddened when she spoke in a nervous low tone, "Um, director about that, I wanted to ask if we could maybe adjust the intimate scenes."
Flynn was about to say something when a notification on his phone drew his attention. Brooke caught a glimpse of the headline, it was Ethan’s scandal that had happened earlier that day.
"Cassie Crane is one unlucky woman. First her scandal with her father and his slave contract, the scandal with the fake bags and now people are trying to link her to this scandal with Ethan Halton." He shook his head, "I almost feel sorry for her."
Brooke swallowed her hiss. "What do you think? Could Ethan’s- Mr Halton’s wife truly be Cassie? And do you think she’s the mother of his child?" Speaking about people she knew so intimately like they were strangers felt weird for Brooke.
But oddly comforting.
It was as if she had truly shed herself free from them.
Flynn rolled his tongue around his mouth a bit before giving an answer. "I don’t know the man enough to have an opinion on the first rumour. But if Cassie Crane is smart she’ll know to never let a child ruin her career, especially not when she just won the best actress award." His tone went flat at the mention of the award.
He turned to Brooke, "This is why we are always very cautious. One scandal like this and we’ll be ruined." In plainer words he told her, "Don’t do anything that’ll give our hardwork a bad name."
Brooke’s features sharpened with his words, "Of course."
Pleaded with her response director Flynn reached forward and signalled Dylan over. At first, his attention was too fixated on his phone for him to notice. But when the director called him, he raised his head and came running over.
Brooke made a face at the way the director saved Dylan’s number on his phone.
Could they really be connected? Brooke wondered as she watched Dylan make his way over.
"Dylan, you’ll be meeting with the intimate scenes choreographer right now, so pack your things and drive." He informed him, giving no pre briefing.
Dylan looked to Brooke and hissed, right in front of the director. He turned to Flynn, "I refuse. This woman can’t even block properly, what is the use of this so called talent she has if she can’t deliver it properly?" He had asked expecting to hurt Brooke’s spirit but she remained firm.
She turned to Dylan, "I admit I can’t block very well, but I can learn to." Her eyes lit up, "If you could, then please help me...."
Dylan sneered, "I didn’t sign up to help you, if you can’t keep up then keep off this set." He said. Turning to the director he went on, "Once she covers blocking I’ll think about shifting my schedule to suit hers." He declared then went back to the corner he was fixed at before.
Once he left, Brooke let go of the nervous breathe she had held in. ’That guy is honestly so rude, why isn’t the director saying anything...’ she paused her thoughts when the cast’s attention was diverted towards someone else.
Brooke and director Flynn looked behind to see Damien stroll into the area, with his assistant in tow.
"What the hell is he doing here?" The director asked, voicing Brooke’s thoughts. Flynn immediately got off his chair and went over to greet him.
"Damien? Why did he come here? He doesn’t have any scenes." She observed, and even if he did, it was the first day of filming, she didn’t imagine he would feel the need to come in. After all he was a pro, he could master blocking and his lines in faster time than she ever could.
Cassie never came in for the week month of filming, and had the entire cast shift the schedule to suit her.
Brooke was so deep in thought, that she hadn’t realized that she had been staring at Damien. She blinked twice, flushed from embarrassment and strictly turned around to return back to set.
"That’s odd," Brooke huffed, "Is it just me or was Damien staring back at me?"
