Damon's Ascension-Chapter 151: Post-Chaos and Pre-Chaos
Chapter 151: Post-Chaos and Pre-Chaos
"The Safe Zones have simultaneously risen and dropped in value. The Bright Realm update did not say that these 15 merged sectors were exempt from the weekly rule change, so if the new rule that comes next week is malevolent..." Damon began, turning his head to the crew.
"...no one would dare come to our Safe Zone, prioritizing other zones instead." Felecia continued grimly.
Henry threw his hands up. "Brother, we just got here. When its everyone’s turn to profit, the Chaos Realm allows them toe at it up but when we come over, the rules change and now profits down?!"
"But that’s the point isn’t it , dear friend? The rules were normal before,... up until the moment we came." Nicholas commented faintly, his gaze profound.
The atmosphere in the group became cold.
"Heh, I always wanted to be a protagonist-like character and dominate the world with my system. Hey, the system’s here and the protagonist turns out to be the entire human race, but now, I don’t feel so excited anymore..." Kyle laughed bitterly.
"That’s natural. The events here were likely seen by everyone in the Chaos Realm, if not the home universe. Even if they did not see the Chaos Eye specifically single us out, they only need to check the timing and do a bit of investigation to find out that we are the cause of these changes." Bane crossed his arms and said seriously.
"The Chaos Eye revealed a lot of information in its words too. Post Chaos and Prue-Chaos. I feel like we all understand what these terms mean, or is there anyone confused?" Levi Thane inquired from the team.
"Not at all. I have also gotten with the times and have been consuming a lot of popular oriental content. If we use the theory of Pangu’s creation and the mythology over there to interpret these words, then the meaning is thus..."
Protizen fiddled with his VQD and displayed a holographic image of the yin-yang circle. "In the West, Christianity says ’In the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God’. In the East, they say ’One begets two, two begets three and from three, infinite creation is born’."
Xela hesitated. "Okay, I don’t really know oriental stuff apart from kung-fu movies. What in the Jackie Chan are you talking about?"
Connor flipped his dagger and chuckled. "Basically the universe exists in two states. The Infinite Chaos, in which rampant and untamed energies filled the void of space with no defined boundaries, no concrete rules and no cycle of creation. Then in this chaos are born some creatures, called primordials, ancients, forerunners, celestials, whatever." freēnovelkiss.com
Connor smiled strangely. "These super powerful creatures are born in the chaos and can exist in these rampant energies, so their cognition and abilities are grand. From them, one or two may decide to be benevolent and turn chaos into order, slicing a part of the vast void and shaping it into order."
"So basically a universe then. With rules, a cycle of life, order, creation, death and such right?" Xela asked with interest.
Connor nodded. "Basically. So if we use that theory, then it makes sense the Chaos Eye called all beings Post-Chaos, because it means our species originated after the chaos was ordered into a stable universe, meaning we are creatures of order."
"What’s the difference between Pre-Chaos and Post-Chaos then?" Xela asked with puzzlement.
Connor shrugged while Felicia tapped her lip. "We cant be sure, but if I’m to guess, its probably in terms of upper limit."
"Upper limit?" Kyle asked with a titled head.
Felicia nodded. "The Pre-Chaos creatures were born in a vacuum of infinite and terrible energies. So not only can they survive outside of a universe’s boundaries, they also grow in this vacuum, ambiently absorbing this energy endlessly and growing their power as time goes on."
"But what about us Post-Chaos Species? Before the Universe Will introduced the Essence system, what kind of growth did any species have? It was very limited. Whether a dragon or a goblin, your range of growth was limited to your environment and biological factors."
Felicia sighed. "Before the Essence System, there was not a single species that could enter the vacuum of space with their body and survive. The space in a universe, in our universe, is just a vacuum without any energy, and we can’t even survive it."
"Meanwhile, Pre-Chaos species exist in the void space between universes, which is both a vacuum and filled with chaotic energies. It’s like comparing carbon to diamond, not just in terms of molecular structure, but in terms of perceived value."
"An apt analogy. Without the Chaos Realm to mine Chaos Essence, even the Essence system would be useless because it would have a cap.. Worldly Essence isn’t free, it is produced by the Universe Will as a byproduct of consuming Chaos Essence, a form of lesser and more docile energy that organisms can use to strengthen themselves." Damon added with a solid nod.
"Hmm... we were described as having a Post-Chaos Body with Pre-Chaos Origins. What does that mean for us?" Nicholas pondered aloud.
The group shared a look and also wondered about this.
Damon frowned and spoke carefully. "We are still mostly speculating based on assumed knowledge, but going down that train of thought... I would say the answer to the reason why humanity is so different has appeared."
"Every race has standard traits. Abilities are judged on a racial basis in the IUAS, not because of individuals in the race, but because of the race as a whole. Literally every race apart from us awakens a set range of abilities, which can differ in rank and strength, but never in fundamentals." Marshal replied with realization.
"Dragons awaken fire abilities, the Rabbeum guys awaken agility abilities, and our Vampire friends awaken blood abilities with very few having different abilities, but they are exceptions to the rule. Humans are the only ones where you’d see one guy shooting fire from his hands and another firing spider silk from his fingers." Protizen continued, working through his VQD.
Damon turned and nodded. "Part of our appeal to those companies was precisely in the fact that our abilities are versatile. This is why I made every human an asset to the race, because when ability hiring companies make contracts, they tend to take a race as a unit and recruit in groups."
"So if they find a Sector with an Area where blood abilities will be useful, they will hire a batch of vampires in bulk, awaken them, and then train them internally. They know that these guys will awaken the Blood Control ability at the A rank, or some might awaken weaker versions at the B or C rank at most."
"But with humanity, if they hired a batch of us and awaken us, not only will they get minimum A rank abilities, but the abilities will be so varied that no matter how, they can find a use or a sector for them. This will greatly increase not just the upper limit of the company, but its versatility and depth."
"They will grow horizontally, being able to jump into and encapsulate more fields of business with ease, leading to extreme company development and expansion. This is what is currently shaking up the social dynamics of our universe and is what we, as a species, have been wading through for the past few months." Damon concluded.
Protizen chuckled. "There’s more, though. We’ve been speculating this entire time using knowledge from human history and mythology, and that knowledge has been cast into doubt by us in our conversation so far."
Protizen then showed them a holographic display of some databases. "But would you look at this, I just checked the entire database of the IUAS and found that there is literally no mention of chaos or the void outside the universe."
The faces of the group changed significantly at that.
Xela and Henry shared puzzled looks. "And? How is that relevant?"
Felicia’s expression became serious. "It means that among all the hundreds of thousands of species discovered so far, none of them have even collectively theorized about the chaos outside the universe during their histories."
Hearing this, the two became shocked. "It cant be that exaggerated right? Not a single one of them even dreamed about it? None of their religions had something like that?"
"Nope. Nada. None. Somehow, we humans are the only ones creative enough to visualize a void outside the universe where true existence began, before being molded into a universe." Protizen answered with a casual chuckle.
"Pre-Chaos origins, huh..." Bane suddenly mumbled, making the group go silent.
Damon tapped his VQD. "The change in the Chaos Realm and the situation faced by the Universe Will means that many plans will have to change, but that doesn’t affect our goal for now. My avatars will handle things back at home, so put all your efforts and focus on getting to our destination."
Felicia nodded on behalf of the team and turned to Damon. "Alright, where to first and how are we going to travel there?"
