Crusader King-Chapter 146: Two-faced lie(10)
Chapter 146 - Two-faced lie(10)
Cades felt his heart stop for a moment and he looked besides himself and saw his other self, smiling overconfident as always, presumably having warped himself to stand right next to him, something the other him seemed to resort to a lot more often than he himself was used to, perhaps also because of the other him's much greater skill, even having been able to destroy the stupidly powerful wooden planks with such laughable ease that Cades had been feeling a slight hint of fear crawl up inside of his heart, a fear that he could not explain, and a kind of envy, envy off the other him's skills, skills that are incomparably better than his own in almost every way, aside from, as the other him had claimed, his ability of reading others intentions, but what was he even able to do with that right now if the other him would just read the movements of others..
He didn't even realize that there were now two ehetrians that had pushed themselves up from the darkness, both clad in a kind of black robe that covered everything and long, powerful black wings, just as Cades had once been, the only difference being that they were slightly shorter and one of them was a woman, the one with a relatively long spear, consisting of a wooden shaft of about six feet and a metal tip that glinted with the silver that seemed to even permeate his own consciousness by now, perhaps having infiltrated after he had seen it all for so long.
The other one, the male ehetrian that had pushed himself up was clad in the dark robes as well, had the same dark wings and short hair, the female one having long straight hair, and he had a sword, the exact same silver sword that Cades himself wielded, and the same one that his other self had mounted on his belt within the scabbard that had come out of nowhere together with the dagger that he didn't have for some reason.
No, before he could even react to all of that, barely even registering it in the back of his mind, his other self pushed him away, his entire body flying for some reason and being picked up by a weird gust of wind that Cades now realized was tinted with a great amount of mana, resulting in him only being able to sit back and watch the now grinning Cades fight, something his other self seemed to enjoy quite a bit.

[Other self]
Oh, he was looking forward to this.
He was born of nothing, created in the trash and revived by the man who came, he was there to take care of this problem, after all, fighting was all he could think about, and other than his pathetic other self, this would be the first real fight he was in, and a two on one at that, so, yes, he was looking forward to this, and he was even amused as he saw his other self flying away riding his mana expulsion basically, for some reason ignoring his own mana, but still, he was happy when he saw the two ehetrians, or at least the two beings that resembled ehetrians, in front of him, he was happy when he fought of fighting, when he fought of the feeling of destroying, of defeating his opponent with relative ease like before, he was happiest when he thought, at least from what he knew.
For a moment, a single moment, he watched the two being in front of him, assessing the situation, and figuring out that the more difficult one to face would be the woman, because, for one, she had a spear, giving her a ridiculously long reach if she leveraged it correctly, and secondly, she was already flying up, something that would make it difficult for himself who was not capable of flying anymore, to counter, luckily though, the male ehetrian didn't flay, instead assuming a defensive stance, expecting him to attack, something that he would gladly do, especially since he couldn't really think of an alternative right now.
He rushed towards the male ehetrian, and within a second he had spanned the two dozen foot, having expelled mana from his back and further enhanced his speed, something that this other self couldn't even dream of doing, at least not consciously, and their swords clashed with a ferocious force, mana that he was pressing onto his opponent colliding with the opponent's own and causing a weak shockwave that no-one really felt to be expelled from the point of contact, a shockwave that was pure mana, untouchable but there.
As they collided Cades, the fighting one, could feel how the other one of his opponents was already descending, trying to stab into his flesh from above, a efficient tactic, especially if the male one was currently holding him in place using the collision of the two places, resulting in him practically begging to get cut if he panicked and just evaded, something he did not intend to do.
Instead he sent his own overload through the sword, knowing that the male opponent in front of him wasn't capable of producing lightning with such speed and efficiency and that the sword of his opponent would be just as conductible as his own, hoping that it would result in...
There it was!
His opponent stumbled back, his grip horrible and his hands starting to turn red, and as soon as he did, freeing Cades from the interlocked blades, Cades took a step backwards, knowing that the other one wouldn't be able to change their direction at the last second, he did once have wings after all.
However, as soon as the spear vanished into the ground, about half of it going missing, he tried to attack her, but she sprung backwards, a simple silver axe suddenly in hand, as if it as a simple replacement for the weapon she had just lost, similar to his own dagger, not that it mattered much as her spear had been taken away, her leverage was mostly gone aside from her wings, and he had the upper hand, resulting in her running away and him standing right next to the spear, the first clash over, with him winning.
As he stood there the female and the male looked at him with empty orange eyes, and he took the spear, getting it out of the ground, and threw it away, something he didn't really have to do as he could've used it for his own leverage and reach, but he already knew he was winning, and he liked fighting, wishing not to end it too early.
