Crusader King-Chapter 117: Beneath the statue(3)
Chapter 117 - Beneath the statue(3)
Cades had been playing with the idea for quite some time as he had traversed the endless chain, especially so after his run-in with that golem that had actually taken a bit out of him despite his clearly much greater power in terms of practically everything, at least if he had been able to use both arms for his sword like normal, then his swings would've surely been able to slice through his opponent as if he had been warm fruit, or something akin to that.
And after a short time where he had been saddened by the loss of his arm, a time that still persisted, just driven into the background by his own self-preservation and his will to survive as he had been using the warp-step constantly, pulling his speed ahead and turning each step into five as far as he was concerned, something that did however take quite a bit of concentration while he was walking, another reason for this side-thought.
The thought of making himself a prosthesis, a new arm, something with which he could regain some of his full power, and he believed that he might be able to do it after he slaid that eximimus queen and used it's carcass and bodily part, especially the mana arteries to make himself a new arm.
He had been thinking about it, be it only in the back of his mind, and indeed he was interested, thinking about some ideas with which he could achieve that effect, but right now ideas were flowing towards his brain, appearing in his mind out of nowhere, flooding him with creativity and ideas as a wide, bright smile began appearing on his face, a smile brighter than most he had ever had since ehetria had fallen, which hadn't really been that many.
A tangible plan to build an arm, a relatively functionable one, was now within his mind, or at least the roughest schematics were already inside while he started to walk a few round around the beautiful statue of the old man, the grass still licking his bare feet and tickling him, something he didn't even notice right now.
The most important part of the arm would probably been the connective issue of the mana arteries, so the first problem he really had to think about was how to solve that glaring issue, the issue of not being able to control the arm even if he were to build it right now, and much better than he had planned until now, so, he first had to figure out how to solve it. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
As Cades thought about it he looked at where his left arm should've been and slowly put his finger atop the scarred tissue, which he soon felt to be quite hard and probably durable, but also still as having a flow of mana underneath, something that he was already aware of but still wanted to make sure of as he knew how important this could be.
He began to think back on the body of the first eximimus queen he had killed and began to slowly remember the mana stone he had recovered after crawling through the body of the greater monster, something that he would indeed be quite happy about this time as well, but this time for a different reason instead.
An ehetrians body, and this one as well, perhaps even all beings, were able to infuse mana into mana stones, so, if he were to infuse mana and let that mana travel through mana veins and arteries, dried ones, that he had previously taken from the spider queen, then he could let that mana work together with a mana valve to make it do something once he infused enough mana into it, something like lifting the arm, curling his fingers, gripping something, and many other kinds of things.
But still, he would not be able to wholly control it, unless... he did something, but that would be very, very uncomfortable for himself, seeing as it would include basically being stabbed for his entire life and anchoring something inside him.
For Cades it was relatively clear what he had to do, he had to bury the magical stones within the little stump, the little bit that was still left of his arm, and from that arm he could work with connective magic to practically glue to arm onto it, a magic that would be stronger the stronger the initial magical energy supplied, in both ways, working as a kind of magnet, and in his case it would undoubtably be very powerful when interconnecting with the counterpiece.
It was a basic but rarely used skill when it came to normal tasks, it was basically magnetizing something and utilizing that fact to also pump magic through it.
Either way, after he was finally done with the first part it would be time for the second, the issue of moving the fingers and the arm itself, an issue Cades was however able to quickly resolve by thinking of some hollowed out parts of the spiders body he had previously seen, something he would have to make another tool for, and putting tendons in there, connected to another smaller, well-known artifact component that would basically curl up the tendon and curl up his fingers and arm as well.
Finally, just as he began to think he was already done with the planning, something that had gone by surprisingly quick, he remembered two of the most important functions of the arm aside from gripping and holding, it was the act of moving the shoulder, something that would be quite easy to resolve with a pressure-oriented mana stone, something that should basically lead it to have a miniature artifact inside his shoulder that would then allow him to move it in all directions by utilizing his mana, something he would also have to add onto his hand to move it freely during fights.
Finally, despite the sheer difficulty of this, especially with the pressure-oriented mana stones that were known for their difficulty among the basics of artificing in relation to steam-type creations and valves, he showed a new smile, one filled with passion, his passion to learn and gain knowledge, and began to look towards the spider as he stopped dead in his tracks.
It was time for him to regain his lost arm.
