Chapter 50: Chapter 50: No Escape

"Paul, I need you to listen to me."

"Really, right now?"

It might help us break out of this siege and save our lives."

"Okay, I’m listening."

I’m guessing when you two awakened your magic powers, Peter was the first to

use Space powers and then you followed a while after right?"

Paul was startled by this question. He was sure that they had never told Drake

about this, in fact very few people knew about this.

Paul nodded in affirmation, but he was still wondering why Drake would ask this.

Seeing that nod Drake was almost completely sure of his speculation. Then he

said carefully "Don’t get angry but You guys have made a mistake all this time.

Actually only Peter has Space Affinity. You have time affinity."

"I don’t get it. If I don’t have Space affinity, then why can I also teleport just like

him."

"It’s because you two have a special ability as twins that allows you to share each

others magic powers."

"Special ability?"

"That’s right, just like the way the Wolff brothers can combine to form the 7 Day

Wolf, you guys also have a special ability. However your special ability is different

from theirs. Your special ability allows you to share your magic power."

"You guys have been using this special ability all this time, that is the reason why

you can also teleport and use Peter’s Space affinity. But you actually have a Time

affinity."

"Wait, how do you know this?"

Peter added, "Yeah, I’m not arguing or agreeing, but if he does have Time powers

how come we never found out anything all this time?"

"the reason you haven’t I have a special ability myself that allows me to see your

powers." Drake knew that he needed to explain how he knew about the different

affinity’s and their special ability, so he told them about the ’Eye of Order’

Peter suddenly exclaimed, "So you’re saying that the reason why Paul was able to

move so fast those times was because he unknowingly activated his Time power?"

"Yes! Time power is extremely rare and very hard to identify since its effects are

hard to detect unless you pay very close attention. And with your special Twin

share ability helping both of you show Space affinity, you ended up abandoning

your own Time power."

Drake continued to explain and the twins listened carefully but suddenly, there

was a sound of wind rushing.

Drake looked around with the ’Eye of Order’ and his face paled the in a heartbeat.

Aowuuuu!!!

A terrifying howl resounded throughout the forest as several thousand Wind

wolves surrounded them.

"They’re here already? But how, it’s only been barely a minute." Drake stuttered.

It was then that he saw the currents of wind flowing around the Wind Wolves and

something clicked in his mind.

"Wind Wolf! I understand now. They are called Wind wolves because they posses

wind affinity and can enhance their speed and agility with their wind power just

like a 2 star Mage with a wind affinity can." He smiled wryly, "I was careless and

underestimated them."

With the power of wind to enhance their speed it’s only natural that they could

get here in only half the time.

...

The Pack of Wind Wolves surrounded the battlefield with their sheer numbers.

There were so many of them that no clear land could be seen in a 500 meter

radius.

The Wind wolves that were in confrontation against Drake and the twins, also

retreated into the crowd of reinforcements at this time, leaving Drake and the

twins in a wide space a hundred meters wide in the enter.

Drake and the twins came closer to each other in the center of the wide open

space with their backs against each other. The ground around them was littered

with the corpses of Wind wolves, it was quite the ghastly sight with the

decapitated body parts and severed limbs all over.

"Damn it! What do we do now? Their reinforcements have already arrived. We

can’t break out of this." Peter was looking let and right. The berserk killing intent

released by the sheer number of wind wolves would be enough to cause a guy to

break down in despair.

Paul shook his head, "It looks like we’re going to have to throw in the towel this

time."

"Fuck this is embarrassing! We barely have any ears for Mage points. I’m really

unwilling to submit like this." Peter cussed.

"Boss, you think we should just surrender." The twins turned to Drake, they

would do whatever he said.

Drake also thought it would be best if they retired. He was responsible for the

lives of the twins since Anna had asked him to look after them. He knew that

these two were not really scared right now, if anything they were just a bit

frustrated that they had to go down like this.

Drake decided it would be best if they retired. They could always get more points

some other time, but he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if any thing happened

to them.

It was best to know when to call it quits.

"You two..." however before he could speak a majestic howl resounded.

Aowuuuu!!!

The pack of wind wolves separated, and of their midst seven massive Wind wolves

emerged.

One stood out more than the rest. It stood about 5 meters tall, its sharp claws

shone with a cold metallic glint and its glowing blue eyes told of a brutality

hidden in them. There was a light bluish aura emanating from its Grey fur.

When the felt the berserk suppressive aura it gave off, Drake and the twins

instantly knew what they were looking at.

"Alpha wolf!"

The other Six wind wolves with it were over 3 meters tall marking them as beasts

at the peak of Grade 2.

Drake focused the ’Eye of Order’ no them and their details appeared before him.

...

Wind wolf

Cultivation level: Grade 3 beast

Battle Power: 35,000

Abilities: Wind Element manipulation

...

Drake was surprised when he saw its Battle Power.

" How is It’s Battle Power is only 35,000?" Drake exclaimed inwardly.

He remembered clearly that the Battle Power of the Armored Alligators that he

had run into at the lake earlier were already both over 200,000. so why is its

Battle Power so weak?

"It looks like the Alpha Wolf is only at the early stages of Grade 3 Magical beast."

he muttered.

"Early stage’s it just evolved not too long ago?"

"Yes! When a magic beast evolves to Grade 3, it has a Battle Power of about

23,60024,000.

Only when its Battle Power is at about 350,000 could it be truly

considered a peak Grade 2 magic beast." Drake recalled the information about

Mages and magic beasts levels.

...

NonMage:

Below 20

1 star Mage: 20 – 700

2 star Mage: 1000 – 15,750

3 star Mage: 23,600 – 354,000

4 star Mage: 531,500 – 7,973,000

5 star Mage: 11,960,000 – 179,400,000

6 star Mage: 269,000,000 – 4,000,000,000

7 star Mage: ...

8 star Mage: ...

9 star Mage: ...

...

Information about 7 star Mages to 9 star Mages were classified, so he wasn’t privy

to that at his current level.

"I guess that explains the weaker pressure. We’ve seen a corpse off a Grade 3

magic beast before and the pressure I felt in front of it was a lot stronger than the

pressure I can feel right now."

"Yeah, that pressure was so stifling I thought I would suffocate. This pressure is

much lighter though."

"Hey, hold on just a second shouldn’t you guys know this stuff? It was thought in

Magic class." Drake turned to them.

"Hehe, come on boss that’s all theory. You can’t expect us combat Mages to pay

attention to all that stuff. Besides, that’s what we have you and Sylvia for." Paul

scratched his head and Peter giggled sheepishly.

Drake was speechless, but then shaking his head he turned back to the Wind

wolves in front of them. He was thinking since the Battle Power of the Alpha wolf

wasn’t too much above theirs, why don’t they try to see if they could kill it.

Drake spoke about some more things that they should know while Peter and Paul

listened to Drake very earnestly!

And, that’s because there are some things which sound convincing only when

they are said by the leader of the group instead of some ’random nobody’ who

merely believes in himself.

This is a universal psychology of humans. For instance...

everyone has heard the saying ’it’s only when it comes time to apply knowledge

that you regret not acquiring enough of it’ from a very young age However, one

realizes the true meaning of these words only after decades of years of experience

when one has experienced the setbacks. However, it would already been late at

that time of realization.

Luckily enough for these two, they didn’t have to go through that.

This Wind wolf Alpha has reached Grade 2 so its Magic ability has been

awakened. But since it is only in the Early stages it couldn’t possibly have

mastered its wind Manipulation to a high level.

"Maybe, we can kill it." he thought out loud

Paul thought he heard something, so he asked, "What was that?"

"What would you two say if I asked you to kill the Alpha Wolf." Drake asked

clearly.

"I’d say you’re crazy." they said simultaneously."

Peter added. "Dude, that’s a Grade 3 magic beast, the thing has 10 times our

Battle Power. How could you even think of fighting against something like that."

Drake stated, "I’m not just thinking about fighting it, but killing it."

Paul shook his head. "That’s impossible!"

"Nothing is impossible!" his eyes sharpened. "the only reason why others have not

been able to pull it off, is because they aren’t crazy enough and they don’t have

enough faith to try."

"You guys have space power, that is like controlling the sharpest sword capable of

cutting through anything, and with your teleportation for movement if you use it

the right way the enemy can forget about landing a single hit on you. As for me, I

have my own tricks"

"You guys control space and time, with me added into the mix, I don’t believe we

can’t kill a Grade 3 beast that is just at the early stages."

"You guys, we have to kill the Alpha if we want to survive today. Right now I don’t

think even if we surrender the teachers will be able to get here fast enough to

rescue us, but if we kill the Alpha the rest of the Wind wolves would be without a

leader." he then added.

"At that point they will either retreat or fall into chaos. Either ways they won’t

have the balls to attack us again since we could kill their leader."

they fell silent after he said this, but they were thinking ’ Did you forget that there

are six peak Grade 2 wind wolves on their side? Even if we want to kill the Alpha

wolf, we would have to face both it and it’s generals.’

Drake seemed to have noticed what they were thinking so he reassured them,

"Don’t worry we won’t be facing all seven of them at once."

Grade 3 beasts were proud, they looked down on other magic beasts and Mages

that weren’t on the same level as themselves. So he was sure that either the

Alpha would attack first to get things over with, or it’s six Generals would be sent

forward first.

"fine we’ll do it as the boss says."

"Good, but I still need to make something clear." Drake added, "the moment

things go south I want you to immediately retire from the survival training. Do I

make myself clear!"

"Yes boss we understand."

"We would do so even if you didn’t tell us."

"Great!" Drake nodded. But he did not see that immediately he turned away the

twins exchanged a glance.

In that one look they understood each others thoughts, ’Boss wants to protect us,

he even came here and jumped head fist into this mess just to help us. We cant

leave him!’

Drake however had already turned unawares of the twins true decision.

The Wind wolves seemed to have been waiting for them to finish their discussion.

Now that the had stopped talking the Peak Grade 2 wind wolves stepped forward.

It looks like the Alpha wolf disdains to attack us on its own so we have to gain the

qualifications if we want to fight it.

"That’s good I guess. It would have been bad if we were to face all seven of them

at once."

"You guys remember go for the kill, and make sure you surrender the moment

the situation goes awry!" Drake said and stepped forward to confront the wolf.
