Chapter 61: Chapter 61

Karl totally growling, wheezing on the ground with a face full of anger and pain. Blood was flowing from the corner of his lips, but his eyes were still shining with hatred. Feeling totally crushed and cornered, he knew the only way to survive was to bounce. With one last signal, he called Undead Platinum to help him out.

"Undead Platinum, let’s bounce from this joint!" Karl ordered with a raspy voice.

The skeleton creature immediately lifted Karl on its back, zoomed through the remaining window, and dashed out of the building. The sound of shattering glass echoed behind them, leaving Chloe, John, and Amber panting and wounded.

Karl felt the world spinning around him as Undead Platinum carried him through the narrow streets on the outskirts of town, running at an insane speed. He could only stay silent, trying to catch his breath and recover on the creature’s back.

After a while, Karl realized they had crossed the city limits. The smell of trees and the cool wind greeted his skin. He opened his eyes and realized they were far from his apartment—they were now in a forest on the edge of the state. Panic started to creep in. All his plans and arrogance now seemed fragile in the dark silence of the forest.

Karl let out a low snort, trying to calm himself. But the shadows of defeat from Chloe, John, and Amber continued to haunt him. He felt boiling anger in his chest, mixed with fear and desperation that he couldn’t shake off. Nevertheless, his mind was still trying to come up with a new plan. His usual strength that made him feel invincible now felt inadequate.

"If they can recover so quickly... I need more power," he muttered softly. "I can’t let them destroy my path."

The silent forest now bore witness to Karl’s gloomy determination. Staring sharply into the surrounding darkness, he vowed to himself: There will be revenge. It’s not over yet.

Karl sat on the ground for a moment, feeling the lingering pain and wounds. The quiet of the forest brought a strange peace, even though his head was filled with the recent defeat. Not wanting to linger longer, Karl finally decided to get up. With a tired body and the still-burning anger in his chest, he slowly walked towards the public streets on the edge of the forest.

After a few minutes, Karl heard the sound of vehicles in the distance, a sign that he was getting closer to civilization. Relief started to seep into his heart. After all that happened, he realized that just relying on Undead Platinum wouldn’t cut it. The creature was only strong in attacks but difficult to control when his enemies united and worked together.

As he walked, Karl asked the system. He felt the need for answers: how to temporarily get rid of Undead Platinum. The creature was too conspicuous, and Karl knew its presence would make it difficult for him to move around the city without attracting attention.

"System," Karl said in his mind, "how do I temporarily disable Undead Platinum?"

The answer immediately appeared in his mind, like a calm voice speaking from within.

[ To disable Undead Platinum, you just need to give a verbal command to disappear ]

Karl stopped, thinking for a moment. "So, it’s that easy? Just a verbal command?"

[ Correct, Tell it to disappear, and the creature will enter a dormant mode until you call it back. ]

Karl smiled slightly. Turns out, it’s as simple as that. He turned to Undead Platinum standing not far from him, waiting for further instructions.

"Undead Platinum, vanish," Karl commanded in a calm voice.

In an instant, the creature faded, enveloped in black smoke until it disappeared completely. Karl breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of calm without the presence of the giant figure next to him.

Now, with a lighter and freer body, Karl continued his steps back into the city streets.

Walking on the sidewalk, Karl muttered to himself, "Watch out! I’ll smack those two Obscura chicks!"

Karl realized something was off when he reached into his pants pocket. Empty. No wallet, no money—only clothes clinging to his body after the night’s escape. The growing hunger that was starting to torment him felt more annoying, and the smell of food from the nearby stall only made his stomach emptier.

Standing outside the stall, trying to think. He never used to worry about money or food, but this time was different. Without Undead Platinum to scare people, he had no power in this place. With an annoyed breath, he looked around, looking for another way.

Then his eyes landed on a few people who seemed to be buying coffee from the side window of the stall. Some of them looked rushed, leaving the change on the table without taking it. Karl approached, making sure no one noticed.

Skillfully, he took a few coins left on the table. It felt demeaning, but he knew there was no other choice. With the handful of coins in his hand, Karl approached the window and ordered a simple bread—just enough to fill his hungry stomach.

When the bread finally arrived in his hands, he bit into it without much thought. Even though the bread was dry and plain, he felt the warmth of the much-needed food refreshing his mind.

Chewing, Karl stood outside the stall, staring at the bustling streets. Today, he had to start over—with a new plan, new strength, and greater ambitions. No matter how much he had to endure insults, one thing was certain: he was still a horny motherfucker.

As Karl stood outside the stall, biting into the last dry bread in his hand, a woman approached from the sidewalk. She looked ragged, with messy brown hair left untied. Her clothes were disheveled and dusty, but her face showed a strange determination, like someone who was used to living on the harsh streets. The woman glanced at Karl briefly before faintly smiling.

"Hey, just saw you around here. You... seem to need help," she said in a friendly yet slightly sarcastic tone, observing how Karl was munching on bread so eagerly despite it being only dry.

Karl eyed her suspiciously, gulping down the last bit of bread without speaking much. He wasn’t used to strangers approaching him, especially someone who seemed to be living on the streets.

"I don’t need help from anyone," Karl replied curtly, wiping his mouth.

The woman chuckled softly, ignoring Karl’s curt response. "So arrogant, yet it’s pretty obvious you’re broke," she said. "I’m new around here too, and believe me... living on the streets isn’t as easy as you think."

Karl was about to reply rudely, but something in the woman’s eyes held him back. He didn’t see fear or helplessness in her eyes. Instead, there was a courage he couldn’t quite explain—a courage of someone who survived on the outskirts of the city with her own strength. Maybe, Karl thought, this woman could be useful for a while.

"If you know how to survive here, why not share a bit?" Karl finally responded, reluctantly forcing himself.

The woman grinned widely. "I’m Layla. If you really want to learn how to survive, follow me. There are plenty of tricks you need to know, especially if you want to live without money in a place like this."

"I’m Karl."

Karl hesitated for a moment, but his hunger and limited situation finally made him nod. Layla led him through some narrow streets around the city, talking as she showed small tricks to get food or shelter without drawing attention from others. Along the way, he learned a lot from Layla—from how to ask for food without looking like a beggar to how to use leftovers on the streets.

Karl didn’t expect that living on the streets required special skills like this. Layla turned out to be smart and resourceful, teaching him ways he had never thought of before. Occasionally, Karl felt a strange attraction to this woman, although he knew his main goal was just to escape and save himself.

Days passed quickly as Karl followed Layla around the city, learning survival tricks on the streets. Although he was reluctant at first, he started to enjoy their time together. Layla had a pleasant way of speaking, sharp humor, and seemed to make all the difficulties feel lighter. Karl almost forgot about all the problems and his ambition to hook up with milfs for a moment, enjoying a calm feeling he had never experienced.

Night came, and the two of them decided to rest in a quiet city park. Layla told Karl to sit on a wooden bench facing a big screen on one side of the park. The screen usually displayed ads or local news, and people passing by seldom paid attention to it. This time, Karl and Layla sat in the park bench, chatting and enjoying the nighttime silence they rarely got.

But their conversation halted when the big screen in front of them started showing unexpected news. On the screen, Karl’s face appeared, captured on surveillance footage around his apartment building. The news showed a short clip of the "mysterious man suspected of having hypnotic abilities cannot be found on his apartment" with a few other people in the apartment area. The reporter presenting the news mentioned that the police were still investigating the incident due to the fomo influencer movements that started wanting attention from the Spermberggirl case.

Karl felt his chest tighten, his gaze fixed on the screen. The reporter’s voice seemed to fill the silent night, each word warning of the danger now looming over him.

"Is... that you?" Layla asked, with a puzzled yet curious tone. Her gaze shifted from the screen to Karl, as if trying to piece together the new puzzle that had just emerged.
