Chapter 35 -32 Ability_1
After seeing Feng Yi’s instant skill in pinching osmanthus cakes, Lu Yue’s mind started buzzing.
Labor, cost, timeliness, etc., were all thoroughly considered.
“How exactly do you catch mice?” Lu Yue asked.
As long as there was enough profit, things like dignity could be set aside.
Feng Yi replied, “Just go to the destination and use the tool to pinch them! That’s it.”
“The tool?”
“This one here.” Feng Yi flipped through his phone to show the long-handled clamp picture he had once shown Hu Yi.
“Oh! I know this one!” said Lu Yue.
He had seen the company’s janitors use similar clamps to pick up trash on numerous occasions, but Feng Yi’s was a reinforced version, sturdier and heavier, seemingly more reliable for catching mice.
“Besides this, do you need any other supplementary tools? Like chemical agents or anything with new technology?” Lu Yue continued to ask.

“No, just this one,” said Feng Yi.
Lu Yue lightly tapped his fingers on the desktop, a habit when he was thinking.
After a while, Lu Yue said earnestly, “Your method of catching mice is good, first, no chemical agents are used, which some people are allergic to or can’t tolerate. Second, there are no electronic devices, so it avoids privacy and surveillance concerns.”
“How long does it take you to catch a mouse?” Lu Yue asked.
“That depends on how far the destination is.”
“Not counting the travel time, just the process of capturing after arriving. How long does it take?”
“I’ve only done it once. It took over ten minutes from getting off the vehicle. If counting from when I actually start using the tool, about a minute or so,” Feng Yi said.
Leaning back in his chair, Lu Yue’s mind had already started calculating the profits for a day, a month, a year.
After a bit, Lu Yue asked with excitement, “Start a company? I’ll invest! I’ll definitely support you! With such a skill, it should be fully utilized!”
“No need to start a company,” Feng Yi said calmly. “I’m just treating it as a part-time job.”
“Then what is your main occupation?” asked Lu Yue.
“Haven’t decided yet.”
“…”
I just can’t stand you people with ability who insist on being slackers!
After a while, Lu Yue finally said, “Now I believe you’re not short on money.”
Thinking of something else, Lu Yue said, “I have a friend whose office has been invaded by mice, but for some reasons, he hasn’t hired a pest control company to deal with it.”
“What’s the general layout of the studio?” Feng Yi asked.
“It’s quite complicated, with all sorts of models, easels, display stands, cabinets, etc. Out of a three hundred square meter space, two hundred is his office. He doesn’t usually allow others into his office since someone once stole his drafts, and he hasn’t won the lawsuit yet. He hasn’t brought in a pest control company to exterminate them yet.
“He’s tried mousetraps, sticky mouseboards, bait—all kinds of traps, and caught one mouse, but there are more inside. More importantly, it’s disrupted his workflow. He had given up until recently. If it weren’t for an urgent project and the hassle of moving, he’d have considered renting a place to move his office temporarily.”
“I can catch them, but how long it will take depends on the specific layout of his office,” Feng Yi said.
“Alright, let me check with him first. Eat your food; don’t mind me.”
Lu Yue took out his phone and sent a message, then, knowing the other party wasn’t working, he made a call, “Hey, Gu Jun, you haven’t caught that mouse in your office, right?… I’ve got someone to recommend, a pro… Not a team, just him alone… No, he doesn’t use chemicals or electronic equipment, but it’s a bit expensive, ten thousand per mouse… Of course, only if he catches them… Hahaha, I knew you’d agree!”
After the call, Lu Yue asked Feng Yi, “Can you go now? He’s quite urgent.”
“Sure.”
Anyway, all the tea and pastries on the table were finished.
“Did you bring the tool?” Lu Yue asked.
“Yes, it’s in the trunk.”
“Good, my car is up ahead. Follow me in a while. His house isn’t far from here, a twenty or thirty-minute drive.”
Upon leaving the shop, Lu Yue’s driver was waiting in the parking lot.
As Lu Yue got into the car, the driver asked, “Did you come to an agreement?”
“Haven’t started discussing that matter yet. I first want to see if he really has the skills. Keep the bag with you, don’t let anyone see it,” Lu Yue said.
The driver was also one of Lu Yue’s trusted aides, who knew a little about the business Lu Yue was discussing with Feng Yi that day.
“To Gu Jun’s place,” Lu Yue instructed.
Twenty-something minutes later.
Carrying a long case, Feng Yi followed Lu Yue to Gu Jun’s house.
The door was opened by Gu Jun’s assistant.
After entering, Lu Yue looked around, “Where’s Jun?”
“He’s in the office, organizing art drafts. He’ll be out soon.”
No sooner had the words been spoken than Gu Jun came out from his office and quickly shut the door behind him.
Feng Yi had learned some things about Gu Jun from Lu Yue and knew that he was quite anxious about his drafts and designs being leaked.
Gu Jun appeared to be about the same age as Lu Yue, slightly overweight, but due to spending long periods indoors without sunlight, his complexion was somewhat pale.
“The inside isn’t tidied up yet; please wait a little longer,” Gu Jun said as he fidgeted with his hair, sizing up Feng Yi, “Are you the rat catcher Lu Yue mentioned who charges eleven thousand per rat?”
“That’s me,” Feng Yi nodded.
Gu Jun’s gaze shifted to the long case Feng Yi was carrying, “Let me inspect the tool first.”
Feng Yi opened the case and handed over the long-handled clamp.
Gu Jun examined it carefully, realizing it was the sort you could buy online for a hundred bucks, and even though Feng Yi’s reinforced version might be more expensive, it couldn’t be by much. It was sturdy but not finely made, without any additional design, no brand logo, and used materials that were cost-effective.
After returning the clamp, Gu Jun said, “You may bring the clamp with you, but not the case. My apologies.”
“I understand,” Feng Yi was unfazed, “How much longer will the inside take to tidy up?”
“I’ll make it quick. Here’s an agreement; take a look and see if you need anything changed. If not, we can print it out and sign it immediately,” Gu Jun said, passing over a tablet displaying an electronic agreement.
Lu Yue glanced at it and couldn’t help remarking, “Come on, Jun, isn’t this a bit much… over twenty pages, can’t we make it simpler?”
“Business is business, and friendship is friendship, even if it’s you, Lu Yue, who’s come to sign. It’s indeed a hassle, but it ensures peace of mind for everyone,” Gu Jun replied.
“This…” Lu Yue looked toward Feng Yi.
Lu Yue himself didn’t mind, of course; he was just considering Feng Yi’s feelings.
Feng Yi quickly flipped through the electronic agreement, and after finishing said to Gu Jun, “I took a quick look; mainly, the designs and models in your office need to be confidential. But, would you be comfortable if I go in blindfolded?”
Both Lu Yue and Gu Jun were startled.
Blindfolded?
Gu Jun looked at Lu Yue, conveying a look: is that really feasible? Or is he messing with me?
Lu Yue’s curiosity was piqued, “How can you catch them blindfolded?”
Feng Yi said to Gu Jun, “That’s my special ability. No matter how much I say or sign, deep down, you’re still not at ease. So let’s keep it simple and straightforward. How about it if I’m blindfolded? I won’t see anything; that should make you feel secure, right?”
