Chapter 515: + Chapter 515+

The new week was busier than the previous two had been, Jael sat in Rosie’s office and watched the Omega constantly alternate between the landline, her digital pad and a laptop. He had barely done anything all morning but he felt stressed all the same, wishing he could do more to help her out.

When he saw her finally take a break longer than five minutes, he spoke up. He had intended to go grab them lunch but now that it seemed that Rosie seemed to her gotten a breather, he made a suggestion.

"Want to step out for lunch?" He offered tentatively, paperwork wasn’t his strong suit, right then, he wished it was a little.

Just that morning, Rosie was bright blue and crying over blueberries, and now the secretary was effortlessly running several companies... talk about range.

Rosie stretched in her seat, "I wish we could go back to the mansion for lunch..." She pouted.

Jael was about to suggest that they could, they had been in too much of a hurry that morning to eat breakfast, so they had eaten the lunch Caspian packed for them for breakfast, and that left them to sort out their lunch all by themselves.

Rosie beat him to it, "But we have to be at a shareholder’s meeting in thirty, so the best we can do is lunch in the car."

Jael rose to his feet at the same time that Rosie did, "Is it always this busy usually?" He had to ask as they made their way down to the elevator.

Rosie had already taken out all of the functions in her schedule for her safety, yet, it was still so crowded with so much to do.

"No," Rosie sighed, pushing the buttons on the elevators. "Lake handles most of it, even Davian pitches in sometimes."

Davian was completely in awe of the pregnant Omega once more. They stopped to get sandwiches at a nearby drive-through, Jael immediately driving them to the company they needed to be at.

"Are you not eating?" Rosie asked with a mouth full of food and concern in her pale eyes.

"I’ll eat during the meeting," He reassured her, getting them to the company with time to spare.

Rosie was already done eating, her pale blue eyes focused on her pad on her lap.

Jael got out with her, he could always easily make his way back to the car. He just wanted to make sure she got into the company safely, and scout out the place while he was at it. Granted, the elitists who frequented the funtions Rosie often attended were unlikely to be here so it was much safer for her.

"There’s usually a break room next to the boardroom," Rosie mentioned to him as they made their way to the right floor. "You can stay there if you want."

Jael intended to, he just had something to deal with while Rosie was busy with her meeting. He hadn’t gotten the chance to speak with Davian about the interloper he had found on Rosie’s property. An attack at a function was one thing but her home being unsafe had completely crossed the lines of his self restraint.

Rosie led the way right to the break room, because Jael hadn’t stopped to eat lunch, he had gotten them here a bit early, and she didn’t have to go rushing into the boardroom.

"The break room is right here," Rosie said as she pushed open the door, only to pause at the familiar figure behind it.

Clint Ryder was calmly seated in one of the many empty chairs. He had the chair facing the door like he had been expecting them to show up. "How’s Lake doing?" He asked without prelude, his gaze roving over Jael.

Jael equally assessed him, stepping forward to put himself in between the newcomer and Rosie.

"You’re welcome to find out for yourself," Rosie grumbled. She had no personal squirmish with the heir, she just knew that her Mafia King didn’t like him, so naturally she was also averse to him.

"Davian is not letting me," Clint said calmly but his impatience was clearly written on his face. "It’s been two weeks since I’ve heard from him, I’m just a little worried."

Rosie relented at his vulnerable words, Clint genuinely did care about Lake, and it was why Davian was so irked by him. "He’s with his mate, of course he’s doing fine." She gave a flippant answer, wanting nothing more than for Clint to leave.

"When is he coming back?" Clint quickly asked, his expression grim.

"If I tell you, will you leave?" Rosie sighed in exasperation. It didn’t matter if Clint knew when Lake was coming back to Haines or not, but the Alpha could be really persistent when to came to Lake. The only person who could hold him off was Davian.

Clint rose to his feet, "Sure," He agreed lazily.

"They’ll be gone for a month. Do the math yourself," She muttered, upset that she had spent all her free time chatting with him. "The board meeting is about to start," She addressed Jael, completely ignoring Clint who slipped out after getting what he wanted.

Jael was pretty familiar with Clint Ryder so he was relaxed as he watched Rosie walked behind him to the boardroom. With the other Alpha in the boardroom, he could be pretty certain that Rosie would be fine.

He waited until she slipped into the boardroom before sauntering off. There was nothing out of place on the entire floor, after being satisfied with his scouting, he made his way down to the parking lot.

The first order of business was giving Davian an earful. It was even more important than eating lunch. The reason he hadn’t made the call to Davian yet was because he had spent the entire day keeping Rosie company.

The Mafia King picked up on the second ring, so he had rolled a lucky dice and called at an appropriate time for the other. "Jael?" Davian’s low voice came through, he sounded more concerned than surprised. "Is Rosie okay?"
