Creak—!
The door was slowly pushed open by Haru.
The scene inside the living room came into view.
A massive floor-to-ceiling window dominated the entire view. The living room was filled with a wide variety of potted flowers and plants. The only furniture was a mahogany table and chairs set before the window, where Altrouge currently sat, sipping black tea.
"Come sit here, Haru." Altrouge set down her teacup, a faint smile on her elf-like face.
"Awoo—!" Simultaneously, Fou, crouched on the chair beside Altrouge, stood up on its hind legs, let out a soft bark, and waved its paw at Haru, looking incredibly excited.
"—Have you forgotten your master now that you have a new favorite?" Altrouge extended arm, lightly patting Fou's head, speaking teasingly.
"..." Utter awkwardness instantly spread across Haru's face.
Haru helplessly shrugged, strode towards the wooden table, pulled out the chair opposite Altrouge, and sat down.
"Altrouge, you look especially beautiful today," Haru said, looking appreciatively at Altrouge with a smile.
Her ink-black hair was neatly arranged, cascading down to her waist. Uncharacteristically, she wore a white, spaghetti-strap dress, immediately drawing attention to her tender, fair shoulders and swan-like slender neck.
Altrouge gently placed her slender arms flat on the tabletop, gazing at Haru's face with her agate-like red eyes, a gentle smile on her exquisitely crafted face, seeming to enjoy Haru's compliment.
However, her crimson eyes were like a calm lake surface, conveying an indifference as plain as water.
Just then, Haru's gaze abruptly changed. The appreciation vanished without a trace, replaced by a wolfish stare. Swallowing insults wasn't Haru's style; since his orientation had been questioned earlier, he would now retaliate with a 'normal' gaze.
Yet, even under Haru's aggressive scrutiny, Altrouge's pretty face maintained a composed smile.
The thousand-year-old Eclipse Princess of Black Blood had long developed a strong resistance to male gazes.
Seeing Altrouge's calm and natural expression, Haru was slightly stunned. Realizing his visual assault was ineffective against her, he immediately abandoned the leering behavior.
"What would you like to drink, Haru? Black tea, coffee, or hot cocoa?" Altrouge's lips curved slightly upwards, her pretty face showing the elegant smile of a noblewoman.
"Black tea is fine." Haru leaned on the table, supporting his chin with his right hand, looking out the window at the scenery, replying softly.
Hearing this, Altrouge lightly clapped her hands. Then, a maid carrying a tray entered the room, placing black tea and desserts before Haru.
Haru lifted the teacup, took a light sip of the black tea, set the cup down, and chuckled lightly at Altrouge. "Your maid's skills are quite good."
"Is that so? I'm glad the black tea suits your taste," Altrouge said with a light laugh, stroking Fou's fur.
"Speaking of which, with such a vast estate, Altrouge's family must have a very long history, right?" Haru gestured towards the vineyard outside the window, covering over a thousand acres, speaking with a light laugh.
"Indeed. My family—the Brunestud lineage—has been passed down for nearly 2000 years." Altrouge lifted her head slightly, her pretty face full of pride.
As the Dominator of Blood, Altrouge was immensely proud of the lineage she inherited from the Crimson Moon. Hearing someone praise her family naturally pleased her greatly, even slightly improving her impression of Haru, who had raised the question.
"Oh, so Altrouge is actually the noble princess of a legendary European family with a thousand-year history? No wonder you usually refer to yourself using 'My noble self'." Haru immediately covered his face, speaking with a troubled expression.
"Oh? Is Haru troubled?" Altrouge looked at Haru, puzzled. Her being a princess shouldn't affect Haru much, right?
"The difference in status is great; it makes me not even think of pursuing you!" Haru said, looking troubled.
"You jest." Altrouge covered her mouth and chuckled lightly, her eyes showing appreciation for someone who understood the situation.
"Altrouge, does this mean... if we want to be together, I must make a sacrifice?" Haru supported his forehead, looking extremely troubled.
Altrouge's mouth twitched slightly, her face showing a trace of astonishment. When had she ever wanted to be together with Haru? She had never said that.
"There's no other way. I can only marry into the Brunestud family." Haru patted his cheeks, looking at Altrouge with determination.
"Ah? Eh..." Altrouge was instantly speechless. Marry in? Who could marry into the Brunestud family? One must possess a bloodline closest to the Crimson Moon to bear the Brunestud surname.
And in the world, only Altrouge and Arcueid, the two sisters, possessed such a bloodline.
Theoretically, for a new Brunestud member to appear, it would require the intervention of either the Crimson Moon or Gaia.
Just then, Altrouge narrowed her eyes slightly. Given Haru's affinity for nature, if she developed him into her direct Kin, it seemed genuinely possible for him to become the new member of the Brunestud family.
"Wake up, wake up! Altrouge? Little darling?..." Haru continuously waved his hand in front of Altrouge, the address becoming increasingly cloying.
"...Hmm? Apologies, Haru. I spaced out earlier. What were we talking about?" Altrouge clasped her hands together, looking apologetically at Haru.
"Uh, it's alright. We were discussing whether our child should be named Evangeline or Kiss-Shot," Haru said with a hearty laugh.
"Evangeline is better..." Halfway through her sentence, Altrouge's face froze.
Her mouth twitched slightly, suppressing the urge to slap Haru dead. Altrouge forced a laugh. "Mister Haru, I believe we weren't discussing this issue earlier?"
"It seems so. We were talking about the issue of marrying in. So, will you marry into my family, Altrouge?" Haru scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
"...Shouldn't it be you marrying into my Brunestud family?" Altrouge's brow twitched, her expression stiff.
"Oh, Then let's discuss the children issue. Let me state beforehand, they must take my surname," Haru sat upright, looking serious.
"....."
"Haru, do you know about magecraft?" Altrouge narrowed her eyes slightly, asking seriously.
"Magecraft? Wait, a black-haired fourteen-year-old girl, with a white pet resembling a rabbit and cat!!!" Haru's pupils contracted as if he had thought of something.
"It seems you know some information about me. That's right, I am..."
"A magical girl!!!!"
Altrouge looked completely bewildered.
