Chapter 162: Knowledge Upload

All of them are jealous of how well she’s talking about Skalven. She sounded like discovering the best beastman of all time.

"No! Not this way! I was just thinking he would be the ultimate babysitter." She says.

They loose their voice for a second and then burst out laughing at her after understanding why she was so excited. They were thinking she wanted Skalven as a new spouse, always forgetting that she doesn’t like a male for his strength or looks.

"I know! I’m horrible for thinking that way. I’m sorry. It’s so selfish of me!" She whines, feeling guilty for thinking that way, holding her face sadly.

"No, now we understand why you were so excited about his abilities. I think it would be nice to have someone that is local to help us with the area. And, as Kangki said, he’s a good beastman." Claud says.

"All right. If you agree, I agree too." Koa nods.

The others also agree.

"All right! I’ll talk to him." Astri says.

She walks back to Skalven, who is patiently waiting with a piece of dry meat in his hand, never removing his eyes from Astri.

"They agreed with you leading the way. Welcome to the group!" Astri says.

"Oh.. I thought they didn’t. They were laughing." He softly says, but he’s happy deep inside.

"They were laughing at me, not you."

"At you?" He asks, confused.

"Yes. I said something I thought was selfish and they laughed at me. Don’t mind them." She answers, giggling awkwardly.

"Oh.."

He’s so shy that she’s talking to him normally as he isn’t a spider at all.

"So! Do you know any river we can set up for the night?" She asks him, and he nods slowly. "Please, show us the way then. Thank you! If you need anything, feel free to call me."

She walks back to the carriage and sits down again. Kangki gets inside too and sits.

"Can you teach me this language? It sounds hard and that you have an itchy throat." Claud asks her.

"Yeah. It took me some months to master it. It sounds like they’re angry all the time." Astri chuckles.

"Teach us. You shouldn’t be the one having to deal with these people. Your energy attracts beastmen, good and evil, and you’re so beautiful and kind that you make males desire you naturally. It will be hard to deal with horny males." Kangki says.

She stands up and then sits in between them. Atlas is sitting on Claud’s lap, and automatically he jumps to his mother’s lap.

"Stay sit, ok? Don’t move." Astri asks Atlas, who is sitting looking at his mom.

She holds Kangki’s left hand and then Claud’s right hand. She closes her eyes and concentrates.

"What are you doing?" Claud asks.

"Testing." She answers slowly.

They feel her energy flowing through their hands and going to their entire body, but then warming their heads. Memories of her studying and practicing other languages ran through their minds quickly making them blind for some seconds.

They feel her energy going weak and when they look at her she’s unconscious. Her head falls on Claud’s shoulder.

"She’s so powerful, but still doesn’t have the entire control of her energy. She passed too much energy." Kangki says.

They put her on the other side and let her rest. Atlas goes to Astri and sleeps on her side too, Yuki hugs Peggy and sleeps with her mother and Atlas.

Koa sighs, hating to walk so much, being a merman makes him not like to walk long distances. Same for Beau.

Koa checks inside the carriage to see if he can change places with Kangki a little and sees Astri asleep.

"Asleep? Didn’t she sleep well?" Koa asks.

"She’s unconscious but fine. She was testing something with us and passed too much energy. She just needs to rest." Claud answers.

"Testing what? Why did you let her do this?" Koa asks.

The others heard and went to check on her to listen for their explanation, but Kangki and Claud didn’t know exactly the reason Astri was passing her energy to them.

Kangki decides to see for himself. He jumps out of the carriage and lets Koa and Beau go inside. Kangki walks a bit faster until he catches up with Skalven.

Skalven looks at Kangki, sensing his different aura and strength.

"Yes?" Skalven asks.

Kangki wides his eyes in shock. He could understand Skalven.

"Where did Astri ask you to take us first?" He naturally asked in Skalven’s language.

"To a river where you can spend the night.." Skalven asks.

Kangki nods slowly. He goes back to the carriage.

"She passed her knowledge to us. I could understand and talk to Skalven." Kangki tells Claud, making the others impressed.

"That is amazing." Cyprian says.

"It would be nice if all of us knew this language, but if it’s too tiring for her we can’t ask her to do it." Beau softly says.

"Kangki and I can pass part of the knowledge we got from her. We can’t pass it all at once like she did because we don’t have the same capacity she has, but you will at least know enough to not understand the language entirely. As more time passes, you will naturally learn more." Claud explains.

"Do it, then. We can’t let Astri be the one dealing with these people." Lee says.

"I rather have Astri’s energy than yours passing through me but if it’s going to be less dangerous for her, I agree." Dieg sighs.

All of them agree.

"Our energies pass through each other all the time. You just don’t notice. This is something natural, even for Monsters." Kangki rolls his eyes.

"What do you mean?" Wayde asks.

"My guards were living longer than other beastmen even before meeting Astri. It’s because my energy was affecting them. And of course, their energy affected me too. Energy is not something we bottle inside our bodies, it’s something that is always vibrating. That’s why we get used to each other. We learn each other’s likings and dislikings even not talking to each other as much as we talk to Astri. Lee never said he hates people talking to him from far away and screaming, but I noticed through his energy. And you did too. You all naturally look after him instead of calling out loud, because you sensed he doesn’t like it." Claud explains.

They look at each other, now understanding. All of them talk to each other more about their roles but not about themselves. However, they all can say they know each other very much.

"At night, when we all gather for dinner, we will pass a little of this knowledge to you." Claud says and they nod, agreeing.

Astri woke up at dusk, while the others were making dinner ready. She rubs her eyes and remembers what happened.

"Are you all right, love?" She hears Zin’s voice.

She turns and sees him getting closer to her. She sits down and stretches her arms answering:

"I’m fine. I didn’t know I would get so tired. But now I’m fine."

"Anything related to using your energy you don’t know how to control it. You gave too much energy." Zin says, brushing her hair.

"I know. But I won’t learn to control it if I don’t use it."

He smiles and finishes fixing her hair.

"It’s true. Just don’t scare us." He says and kisses her head.

"I never do anything with that intention." She giggles and kisses his lips.

He groans and pulls her closer to deepen the kiss.

"Only a simple kiss is enough for me to desire you so much.. It’s been so long already since my turn."

They hear someone getting close, making Zin sighs frustrated, and Astri giggles at his reaction. Zin takes her and slithers away, Koa sees Zin slithering quickly going to the forest and then runs after him screaming:

"NO WAY!! IT’S MY TURN NEXT!" Koa says, loudly and running after Zin as fast as he can.

From nowhere Skalven appears in front of Zin, taking everyone by surprise.

"Why are you taking her away?" Skalven asks, ready to fight Zin.

"Don’t worry, Skalven. He’s my spouse. He was trying to take somewhere private without the others knowing, but Koa found out and tried to stop him. It’s all right." Astri explains.

"Oh.. He’s your spouse? A snake?"

"Yes. He’s the kindest thing you could ever imagine. They’re just arguing as my spouses." Astri says, passing her hand on Zin’s chest, reassuring everyone.

Skalven is amazed to know that she has a snake as a spouse, and also talks about him so well like that.

"You don’t mind he’s poisonous?"

"No. When I’m angry I can be worse than any poisonous creature. Believe me." She says.

"Thank you, Skalven. You made my wait don’t be extended again." Koa smiles, then taps Skalvens’ shoulder, and then takes Astri from Zin’s arms.

Zin sighs, hissing his tongue slowly, showing he’s angry, but won’t do anything.

"What did he say?" Skalven asks Astri.

"He’s thanking you. Both wanted to... well, mate with me. But it was Koa’s turn, and Zin was trying to sneak away with me. That’s why Koa is thanking you." She shyly explains.

"Oh... Aren’t you the one who chooses?"

"Ask Claud or Kangki to explain. I don’t feel comfortable explaining this. Sorry."

"Oh. I’m sorry for bothering you." Skalven quickly says, lowering his head and cursing himself for bothering her. "She’s already so kind to me and I bother her! I’m so stupid!" He thinks. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"No! Don’t apologize. For some females, it’s something normal to talk about to anyone. I’m just too shy to talk about this. It’s all right."

Skalven’s eyes are almost shining in relief after hearing her. She smiles sensing his relief.

"Koa, I really wanted to go to the river first." Astri says.

"Aye, my love. I will take you there." Koa answers, kissing her neck and walking back to the carriages.

Zin slithers back to everyone else, trying to forget his own frustration and respecting Koa’s turn. Koa takes Astri’s hygiene bag and walks to the river with her. He’s planning to wash every part of her in every way.
