Chapter 112: Chapter 112: You’ve Been Busy

"This is it, my loyal comrades! Today is the day we restore our nation to its former glory! And once I claim the throne, I shall ensure that the lowly Commoners will never be given the chance to step out of line ever again!" Exclaimed Reiss as he pumped his fist up into the air, before being met with loud, raucous cheers.

"Let’s do this!"

"It’s about time, it’s time we make those rats pay!"

"This is going to go down as the greatest day in the history of our nation!"

"No, the entire world!"

"Yeah!"

It was the 9th of April, 1919, a couple of minutes to midnight, and the members of Exalt were about to make their move and attack the Capital.

"Excellent, I’m glad to see how motivated all of you are. Now, gather up with your assigned groups and get ready to teleport! We shall depart in less than a minute!" Declared Reiss, before thinking to himself as his followers continued to cheer, "Good, everything is in place...the moment we teleport, Tilda will eliminate the castle’s guards, lead us to the treasury and then, once I get my hands on the Ancient Magic Artifacts in the hidden vault, my victory will be all but assured."

"It’s almost time, I can hardly contain myself!"

"Let’s count down the last ten seconds before we leave! Aaaannnddd...TEN!!!"

"Nine!"

"Eight!"

"Seven!"

"Six!" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"Five!"

"Four!"

"THREE!!!"

"TWO!!!"

"ONE!!!"

"ZER-...oh, we’re stopping at one?"

"Huh?"

"What the-...?"

"W-what’s going on!?" Exclaimed Reiss, as his followers tried to activate their Teleport Spells, but nothing happened.

"It isn’t working!"

"I don’t understand, they were working just fine last time!"

"Why aren’t they-...?"

Suddenly, the entire group went quiet as several figures teleported into their hideout, a few dozen Knights, including the Captains, Vice-Captains and The Irregulars, as well as two figures wearing hooded cloaks.

One of the figures then stepped forward, before reaching up and pulling back their hood...

"N-no, impossible! H-how...how the hell are you still alive, Jules!?" Blurted out Reiss in shock, as he stumbled back slightly.

"It’s been some time, uncle...seems you’ve been busy," She responded icily, as she narrowed her eyes at him...

Let’s rewind twelve days ago, to the meeting held in the Capital...

"Pardon the interruption! We have a bit of a situation."

"What’s going on? Is it another attack?" Responded Siele with a grimace.

"No, sir...someone just showed up outside, wearing a cloak and a mask. They claim to know where Exalt’s hideout is located."

"What? Hm...that’s more than a little suspicious, but...we certainly can’t ignore it. Alright, then, bring them here. Captain Aster, I’d like you to accompany him, stay alert and respond accordingly if this masked figure makes any suspicious moves," Remarked Siele after a brief pause.

"Yeah, okay, leave it to me," Nodded Aster, as he stood up and stretched his arms out, before heading out of the room and following after the Knight.

"This seems way too good to be true," Frowned Rione warily.

"Gotta agree...things are rarely ever so convenient," Nodded Tacitus with a slightly tense look on his face.

"It should be fine...even if it does turn out to be an enemy, we’ve got nearly all of the strongest members of the Knight Order present," Pointed out Siele objectively.

"Yeah, that’s true. If they try anything, we’ll just make them regret ever being born," Smirked Lexia in response.

"Uh, right...sure."

"Hm? Looks like they’re back, and-...hm? Wait, this scent is...," Raven trailed off as his eyes widened in surprise, right as the door opened and Aster walked in with a hooded figure behind him, before shutting the door.

"Let’s get straight to the point, shall we? Who are you? And how do you know where Exalt is hiding?"

"Well...no, I don’t, actually," Responded the figure, before pulling their hood off and removing their mask...

"I-is...is that really you?" Stuttered Siele in disbelief, standing up with a start as tears welled up in his eyes.

"Yeah...it’s me," Nodded Jules with a smile, before her eyes widened as Siele and Rione shot towards her and pulled her into a tight hug.

Tears streamed down Siele’s face as a look of immense relief appeared on Rione’s face, while Jules awkwardly patted their shoulders, an embarrassed look on her face.

"Th-thank goodness, I...I really thought we’d lost you!" Cried Siele, his tears seeping into the fabric over her shoulder.

"Hm...well, this is real fucking awkward," Lexia thought to herself.

"I had a feeling you wouldn’t be killed so easily...didn’t wanna give anyone false hope though, so I didn’t say anything," Remarked Aster with a wry smile, as he sat back down.

"O-okay, come on, you two, th-this is embarrassing...y-you’re on duty right now, so please be professional," Muttered Jules as her cheeks reddened slightly in embarrassment, as she tried to break free of the embrace of her brothers.

"Yes, Commander, my apologies," Smiled Rione as he broke the hug and stepped back.

"Now, then...I’m sure you’ve all got a lot of questions, so I suppose I should explain what happened," Replied Jules, as she pried Siele off of her.

"R-right, of course...pardon my emotional display, Commander," Responded Siele as he wiped his tears away, before taking a seat as Jules took her place at the head of the table.

"Alright, then, I’ll get right to it...that night, when Tilda visited me in my office and handed me a folder I didn’t remember asking for...," Began Jules, cutting right to the chase.

Let’s rewind a bit further...

"Here, you should drink this. It’s a special blend of tea that’ll help relieve fatigue, you look like you could really use it, Commander."

"Oh, how considerate of you, Tilda. Thank you, I appreciate it," Smiled Jules gratefully, before flipping open the folder as she picked up the cup and took a sip, before glancing up as Tilda stole a subtle glance at the clock in the room, "Is something wrong?"

"No, ma’am, not at all...," Replied Tilda, before meeting her gaze and nodding at the folder with a serious look on her face.

Jules then opened the folder, before noticing a folded piece of paper and a Spell Card placed between a couple of documents. She then picked up the paper and opened it up, her eyes widening slightly as she read it...

’Please play along. The tea is poisoned, so use an Antidote Spell Card on yourself. And after you finish drinking it, act like you’ve been poisoned. The Spell Card I’ve given you is a Teleport Spell that goes to Exalt’s hideout, hold onto it but don’t use it, I’ll let you know later when to do so. In addition to an Antidote Spell, also take out a Teleport Spell and Healing Spell...get ready to use them soon. Destroy this note after you finish reading it.’

Jules met Tilda’s gaze as she finished reading the note, starting to say something before stopping as Tilda shook her head slightly. Jules paused for a moment, before quietly opening her desk and taking out an Antidote, Healing and Teleport Spell Cards, slipping them into her pockets before activating the former as she hesitantly took another sip of the poisoned tea, before burning up the note with her flames.

Let’s fast-forward ahead, back to the meeting...

"And after that, two members of Exalt teleported into my office and attacked. I did as Tilda instructed and acted like I was poisoned. I was still pretty caught off-guard when she stabbed me though, definitely didn’t expect that...but I managed to keep my cool and used the Teleport Spell to escape," Explained Jules, as she recalled that night.

"I see, so she was never a traitor, she was working as a double agent...that would’ve taken some serious guts, impressive," Mused Aster with a nod of approval.

"Huh...now I kinda feel bad for injuring her so much," Muttered Siele as he averted his gaze.

"I’m sure she was prepared for that...it’s a good thing you didn’t end up killing her, at least," Pointed out Rione wryly.

"So, what happened after that? Where did you teleport to?" Raven asked her curiously.

"Right, let me continue..."
