Chapter 171: Visitors are here

When Oslo entered the space, he saw Lydia and the others pacing back and forth. They appeared quite worried.

"What happened?" Oslo asked quickly. "Chief said you’re under attack?"

Lydia nodded and replied, "Some criminals are trying to take over the building and the shop."

Oslo’s expression then turned serious.

"Are Elena and Ethan fighting them alone?"

"Yes," Lydia confirmed. "As soon as the gunfire started, Elena told us to enter Paradise. She didn’t want us to get hurt."

Jessa looked nervous and asked with concern, "Should we go out and check on them?"

"No," Grandpa Caldwell said firmly. "They told you to stay inside. You should follow their orders."

He was a former soldier and believed that orders should always be followed.

He also trusted that Elena and Ethan had a reason for everything they did.

"If they’re in real danger, they’ll come in here," he added. "They’re strong and smart. We need to trust them."

Even though he was clearly worried, he believed his grandson would protect his pregnant wife no matter what.

Everyone nodded, knowing he was right.

Some sat down while others kept working, but everyone was thinking about Elena and Ethan, hoping they would come back safely.

Unbeknownst to the others, the two people they had been worrying about—Elena and Ethan—were finally done dealing with the criminals.

"Let’s close the shop for now and reopen tomorrow," Ethan said.

They had been working for almost four hours, and Elena had been standing in the cold for too long.

He was worried the baby might feel uncomfortable too.

Elena nodded and began to store all the goods back into the space.

"Oh, right. Oslo told us someone was looking for us," she said, suddenly remembering what had slipped her mind earlier.

"Yeah, he contacted me too," Ethan replied. "But I had to cut him off since we were in the middle of a fight. It was too chaotic at the time."

"Then let’s go see them now."

Afterward, they both vanished and entered space.

A short while later, Jetro and his team arrived at the unit, expecting to find the Paradise Shop still there.

But instead, they were surprised to see that the room had returned to its original design. The shop and staff were all gone.

If it weren’t for the fresh marks of gunfire, it would have been easy to believe they had entered the wrong unit.

’How did they manage to change everything back so quickly?’ Jetro thought in shock.

He let out a long sigh. The Paradise Shop was clearly more powerful and mysterious than he had imagined.

With more dangers approaching, he realized that making allies with them might be the smartest move going forward.

Meanwhile, General Kaiser and Brother Elias headed upstairs to look for Elena and Ethan, with several DUP members following behind.

General Kaiser had just finished shopping and was pleased to find that the shop also sold cigarettes and wine—rare luxuries in these difficult times.

Seeing all the essentials in one place made him think it would be nice to stay there a little longer.

’Do they have job openings? Maybe they need security staff.’

He considered asking the staff about work, but quickly gave up on the idea.

The staff seemed too strict and quiet.

The last time he asked about personal matters, they gave him sharp looks and warned that he would be removed if he continued.

He sighed.

"What floor is that brat on again?" General Kaiser asked, scanning the building.

The residents caught his attention. They looked healthier than people in other places.

Most had some flesh on their bones, unlike the thin and tired survivors he usually saw.

But even so, their eyes were cautious, like they were always alert.

"Ethan said last time they lived on the top floor," Brother Elias replied, looking around.

"Alright, let’s head up quickly," General Kaiser said.

He felt uncomfortable in his thick coat and hoped their place had some heating to warm him up.

As they walked, Brother Elias shifted the conversation to more serious matters.

"What do you think about the shop?"

"I like it," General Kaiser said honestly. "They have everything I need. Do you think they have unlimited supplies?"

He smiled to himself, already thinking about coming back to buy more.

"How would I know? Be serious," Brother Elias replied with a small frown.

"Alright, alright," the General said with a shrug. "From how they stand and talk, I can tell they’re not from military or martial arts families. They move more like businesspeople."

Brother Elias nodded in agreement.

"Yes, but I also sense a faint spiritual energy around them. And they have no aura, just like Elena and the chief."

"You think they might know something about the shop?" General Kaiser asked curiously.

"They might," Brother Elias said thoughtfully. "Maybe they’re connected to whoever runs it."

While General Kaiser and Brother Elias were still talking and walking upstairs, Ethan had just finished telling Grandpa Caldwell and the others what had happened in Building A.

He left out the part about Elena’s fight with the criminals—he didn’t want to make them worry.

"By the way, Oslo," Ethan asked. "Who did you say was looking for us?"

"My mistake," Oslo replied. "They might be here to meet you and sister-in-law later. I saw General Kaiser, Brother Elias, and some military people enter the shop not long ago."

Ethan’s expression changed slightly. "What are they doing here?"

Oslo shook his head. "I don’t know either. I didn’t show or greet them."

Ethan thought for a moment and then said, "If they’re really coming here, let’s open another unit for them to stay in. The heating devices in Grandpa’s unit stand out too much."

"Alright, I’ll take care of it," Oslo nodded and left to prepare the new unit.

After that, everyone returned to their tasks.

Ethan and Elena were about to exit the space when they noticed Poochi running toward them.

He barked loudly, as if scolding them for not visiting him sooner.

"Aw~aw~awwww," Poochi barked, looking at Ethan with an accusatory expression.

’Master, where did you go? We were supposed to be buddies. Why did you leave me behind?’

"Poochi, is there something wrong?" Elena asked with concern.

But when she saw the dog circling around her, she broke into a smile. It seemed that he just wanted some affection. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"Aw~aw~aww."

’Mistress, let me go with you. I miss you both!’

"Do you want to come with us?" Elena asked.

"Aw~aww."

’Yes!’

Poochi then circled around, agreeing to what his mistress said.

"Alright."

Ethan watched their interaction and couldn’t help but shake his head at Poochi’s antics. This dog really was something.

With that, the three of them exited the space and returned to Grandpa Caldwell’s unit.

A few minutes later, they heard someone calling from outside at the steel gate.

The voice echoed through the quiet hallway, letting them know their visitors had arrived.
