Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 70: "What Did I Just Do?!"
Chapter 70: "What Did I Just Do?!"
Ace remains seated, his expression unreadable, but the tension in the air thickens as Kieran steps forward.
His presence alone shifts the atmosphere_ dominant, unyielding. Wolves around them instinctively lower their heads, sensing the unspoken conflict between two alphas who have never gotten along.
Kieran’s golden eyes lock onto Ace first, scanning him, as if making sure he’s unharmed.
Then, his gaze flicks to Rehan, sharp as a blade.
Then turns back to Ace, "How did you get this far?" His voice is controlled, but Ace can hear the edge beneath it. "Do you have any idea what you’re doing?"
Ace exhales, already exhausted by Kieran’s tone. "I don’t recall needing your permission to be anywhere." ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Kieran’s jaw clenches. He turns to Rehan, his voice low and dangerous. "I know exactly what you’re doing."
Rehan smiles, casual, like he has all the time in the world. "Do you? Enlighten me, Alpha Kieran."
Kieran doesn’t hesitate. "You’ve always wanted what’s mine."
Ace stiffens at that. "Yours?" His tone is sharp, incredulous. "I didn’t realize you are into this kind of a thing."
Kieran’s eyes darken, emotions flickering too fast to contain. "I meant my pack, and even so... he is my pack, so he is mine." But even as he says it, they both know that’s not all he meant.
Rehan tilts his head, watching Kieran with an amused expression. "Interesting choice of words."
Ace is even stunned to speak, who do this people take him for? A bag?!
His anger rises drastically as he watches them exchange words that somehow revolve around him.
Kieran’s voice is sharp, cutting through the thick air addresses him. "What exactly are you doing here, Ace? You came all this way just to look for a mate?" His eyes flick to Rehan, filled with disdain. "Well, bad news. Because this person here just wants to use you_ he’s only interested in getting back at me." His lips press into a thin line before he scoffs. "What is it with you, though? It’s like you’re everywhere, are you that desperate?! First with Rey, now with him!?"
Ace freezes.
The accusation slams into him harder than he expects, something inside him cracking at Kieran’s words.
When he finally looks at Kieran, his eyes burn with barely contained fury.
"So that’s how you see me?" His voice is quieter than before, but far more dangerous. "A person who just goes wherever the wind takes them? Is that what you think of me, Kieran?!" Ace’s voice now carries pain.
Never had he imagine that Kieran would go as far as accusing him being someone like a slut.
Yes, he mentioned Rey, but it was a lie! And right now, he had no intention of going out with Rehan!
Kieran tenses.
Ace slowly rises to his feet, his body rigid. "When did I ever say I was here for that?" His voice rises, heated. "You walk in here with all your assumptions, throwing accusations like you know everything. Like you know me." His chest rises and falls sharply. "But you don’t. You never have. Kieran, never in the days that I’ve known you had I ever imagine that you would go as far as this!
And this is the very last time am exchanging any words with you because everything you say to me always leaves me question my worth!"
Kieran opens his mouth to speak, but Ace cuts him off. Anger mingled with pain roll in him, making it hard for him to think clearly.
All he wants to do is cut all the ties he has with Kieran, and that starts with him having a mate, since when that bond is solidifies, he hopes all the feelings he carries for Kieran will go on to his new mate.
His emotions are tangled, seething, his mind screaming, and before he even processes his own thoughts, the words are already leaving his mouth.
"Rehan." His voice is sharp, demanding. "Do you have a mate?" he asks,
Silence.
Rehan’s expression shifts, the first sign of something real flickering in his usually composed gaze. His jaw tightens briefly before he answers.
"No, I don’t have, she died."
Ace doesn’t hesitate. "Then, will you go out with me? Do you wanna be my mate?"
Kieran stiffens. "What?! Ace what are you doing?"
Ace doesn’t look at him. His pulse pounds, his anger boiling over into reckless action. "I mean it. If you want to then I will present you to the moon goddess tonight, she can solidify our bond then. I heard that the rituals for all wolves happens at Lunar Crest. So if you are willing, we can start our journey back there."
Rehan lifts a brow, his amusement clear, but there’s also something serious beneath it. "Ace, you don’t have to ask me if am willing, I’ve told you... I’ve been admiring you from a far, and it would be the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ace, you deserve someone who really cares about you, who knows your worth. And am willing to be that person to you, am willing to dedicate the rest of my life to you." Rehan says, his voice sincere.
Kieran’s body is practically vibrating with suppressed rage. "You don’t know what you’re doing. Making decisions when angry is the worst thing you can ever do. You just met him! Do you even know him?!" His voice is lower now, raw, like he’s barely holding himself together.
Ace finally turns to him, meeting his gaze head-on. "Well, I met you long ago and I don’t even know you, so what’s the difference?! And the worst decision I have ever made is sitting around, hoping that maybe one day you will acknowledge me, but everyday you make it worse, so stay out of my business because am so done with you!" he retorts.
The words land like a strike.
Kieran doesn’t deny it.
Ace inhales sharply, his chest tight with frustration, anger, and something deeper he refuses to acknowledge. "Should we now depart, Rehan."
Rehan gazes at Kieran, clearly celebrating the victory over him, then nods. "As you wish."
And just like that, Ace turns his back on Kieran.
For the first time, Kieran doesn’t know if he can stop him.
"What did I just do?!" He matters to himself, for the first time in his history_ his eyes blur due to restrained tears.
