Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 62: Next Mating Season around The Corner!
Chapter 62: Next Mating Season around The Corner!
When Jun steps into his father’s office, the stillness of the room nearly suffocates him.
The air feels stale, untouched for days. The desk, once meticulously organized, is now covered in scattered papers, forgotten in a rush.
His father’s chair sits empty, and for the first time, the thought he’s been pushing away claws its way to the surface.
Jun’s body goes numb as he stares at the room.
His knees threaten to buckle, but he grips the edge of the desk, his mind a whirlwind of denial and dread.
He stands there in a daze, time slipping away until his emotions surge, spurring him to leave the room abruptly.
His steps are heavy as he makes his way to his father’s secretary.
"Did my dad come to office today? What about yesterday? Where’s my dad? Did he tell you where he will be going?" Jun demands, his voice sharp and desperate.
Asking questions without waiting for answers.
The woman freezes. she hesitates, glancing around nervously. "Mr. Jun..."
"Where. Is. He?" Jun’s voice rises, his body dealing with the wolf inside of him, the anger management becomes a problem, and the anger summons the wolf inside of him.
By now, the commotion has drawn the attention of other staff.
They gather nearby, whispering and exchanging uneasy looks, but no one dares to step forward.
Jun’s anger surges, his chest heaving as his body begins to heat up unnaturally.
His hands tremble, claws starting to extend from his fingers as his wolf instincts begin to take over.
His vision sharpens, the sounds around him amplifying, but the world blurs in his fury.
Just as the beast within threatens to break free, Ace appears, pushing through the crowd.
Without hesitation, he grabs Jun firmly by the arm, his voice steady and commanding.
The crowd parts, watching in stunned silence as Ace maneuvers Jun away.
Before disappearing into the office, Ace glances over his shoulder at the onlookers. His voice low but cutting.
"He’s still processing," Ace mutters, his words more for himself than for them. Then he closes the office door behind them, shutting out the prying eyes.
Inside the office, Jun’s breath is ragged, his anger dissolving into a trembling confusion as Ace gently leads him to sit.
The heavy silence in the room presses on both of them, and Ace knows there’s no avoiding this anymore.
"Jun..." Ace starts, his voice low and laced with emotion. He crouches in front of him, searching Jun’s tormented eyes. "You need to know the truth."
Jun stiffens, shaking his head as if refusing to hear it. "No... no, Ace. Don’t say it. Don’t..."
"Jun," Ace interrupts softly but firmly, his own throat tightening. "Your father... he’s gone."
The words hang in the air, sharp and unbearable. Jun freezes, the blood draining from his face. His lips part, but no sound comes out.
Ace presses on, though it feels like his heart is shattering with each word. "He couldn’t take it, seeing the unusually things, the magics, it was too much for him , he didn’t make it. I’m so sorry, Jun. I... I didn’t know how to tell you."
Jun’s chest heaves, his hands curling into fists as the reality hits him like a tidal wave. "He can’t be gone! He... he can’t...!"
"I wish I was," Ace whispers, his voice cracking. "I wish I could tell you he’s still here. But he’s not. I’m so sorry."
Jun shakes his head violently, tears streaming down his face as sobs erupt from deep within.
He falls forward, clutching at Ace’s shirt like a lifeline. "No! Ace, you are telling me that I don’t have any parent anymore?!"
Ace wraps his arms around him tightly, holding him as Jun breaks down. His own tears silently slip down his cheeks as he buries his face in Jun’s hair, trying to be the anchor Jun needs.
"I’m so sorry, Jun," Ace murmurs, his voice trembling. "I know how much it must hurt. I know I can never replace them but Jun I’ll never leave your side."
Jun’s cries only grow louder, his body shaking uncontrollably as the pain consumes him.
Jun pulls back slightly, his tear-streaked face full of anguish. "I didn’t even get to say goodbye, I didn’t apologize for getting him to that situation." he chokes out.
Ace cups Jun’s face, his thumbs gently brushing away the tears even as more fall. "I know, Jun. I know it hurts, and I wish I could take that pain away. But I promise you, you’re not alone. I’m here. I’ll always be here. I’m never leaving your side."
Jun collapses back into Ace’s arms, his sobs quieter but no less heart-wrenching. Ace holds him close, rocking him gently like a child, his heart breaking with every tear that falls.
"We’ll get through this," Ace whispers, his voice resolute despite his sorrow. "I swear to you, Jun. You’ll never face anything alone. Not now. Not ever."
Jun clings to him as the grief continues to flow, his heart shattered but finding a fragile thread of comfort in Ace’s unwavering presence.
For the first time in what feels like forever, Jun lets himself be vulnerable, trusting Ace to keep him from falling apart completely.
Jun blames himself for his father’s death, the weight of his guilt suffocating him.
--
After they left the hotel, Ace announcing for the pause of the hotel until further notice, they went to Jun’s house.
Since that day , Jun sits in silence, his gaze hollow and distant, the same way he used to be after losing his mother years ago. The quiet is deafening, but Ace and Kieran know better than to press him.
Ace hasn’t stopped feeling guilt gnawing at him too.
He can’t shake the memory of pushing Jun away, of the moments that led to Jun joining Lila.
If he hadn’t been so harsh, so blind to Jun’s pain, maybe none of this would have happened.
Maybe Mr. Wang would still be alive.
The thought claws at his insides, but he doesn’t dare voice it_ not when Jun is already carrying so much.
Jun’s isolation feels even heavier as visitors come and go at his home.
Many are old acquaintances of his father, offering condolences and sharing stories of the man they admired.
But Jun doesn’t speak a word to any of them. He barely acknowledges their presence, sitting stiffly as though he’s not really there.
Kieran and Ace stay by his side constantly, shielding him from prying questions and forcing smiles when they thank visitors on his behalf.
They exchange worried glances whenever Jun retreats deeper into his silence.
Jun’s thoughts drift back to his mother.
He remembers how she used to hum softly to herself as she worked in the kitchen or laughed with his father late into the night.
The story she told him_ °°° She had left everything behind for love, running away from her wealthy family __ ran away from her arranged marriage to build a life with mr. Wang,, ever since then, she never heard from her family.
Hence no relative that Jun knows from his mother’s side.
His father’s story was different but no less isolated. A man who built himself from the ground up after moving to America from Asia, Mr. Wang had always been tight-lipped about his own past.
Jun never asked too many questions, not wanting to pry into wounds his father clearly didn’t want to reopen.
The result, though, was a family with no extended branches_ no aunts, uncles, or cousins to turn to now.
Jun feels unbearably alone, but Ace’s and Kieran’s presence holds him on.
The house, once lively and filled with warmth, now feels cold and empty to him even with people around.
The laughter and love he once knew seem like a distant memory, replaced by the quiet murmur of guests and the looming weight of his father’s absence.
The funeral arrangements move forward, with Ace and Kieran handling most of the details.
They ensure everything is perfect. But even as they do, they can’t ignore the growing worry in their chests.
Every time they glance at Jun, sitting silently in a chair or staring out the window, they’re reminded of how much he’s lost.
Ace occasionally tries to coax Jun into talking, offering small reassurances or asking if he needs anything.
But Jun doesn’t respond.
It’s as though he’s shut himself away completely, and Ace doesn’t know how to reach him.
At night, Kieran and Ace take turns keeping watch over Jun, worried he might spiral further. freēwēbnovel.com
Kieran doesn’t say much, but the subtle way he positions himself near Jun, always ready to catch him if he falls, speaks volumes.
The next day the burial happens without Jun saying a word. Though actually he has said a lot in his head.
Ace can’t stop wondering what Jun is thinking.
After the funeral, he stays with him at the house, Kieran goes back.
For the first time he wonders, now that everything is like this, and he hasn’t had time to think beyond what’s happening, he is stranded now.
But suddenly he remembers that the next mating season is around the corner, and he hasn’t found the woman he is supposed to present to the moon goddess.
His mind suddenly drifts to Ace, and his heart skip a beat at the thought__.
