Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 56: An Alpha’s Bite_ Jun Becomes One Of Them
Chapter 56: An Alpha’s Bite_ Jun Becomes One Of Them
As Ace and Xiao Jun navigate the shadowy forest, an uneasy silence stretches between them.
Xiao Jun steals nervous glances at Ace, but the stoic expression on Ace’s face warns him against breaking the quiet.
The crunch of dried leaves beneath their feet and the occasional rustle of branches are the only sounds accompanying them, the tension thick and suffocating.
Kieran, true to his word, is nowhere in sight.
He stays behind, coordinating the small group of wolves stealthily shadowing them in the woods.
Every chosen wolf moves with precision, weaving through the dense forest to ensure they remain undetected.
After a while, deep in the forest...
Xiao Jun stops in his tracks, his body tense. "We’re close," he whispers. His eyes dart around nervously. "This is the kind of place she usually appears."
Ace’s eyes narrow as he surveys the area. It’s eerily quiet_ too quiet. His instincts scream at him to be cautious. "You better not be playing games, Jun."
"I’m not!" Xiao Jun says defensively, raising his hands. "She’ll come if she senses me. She always does."
Ace watches him closely, his piercing gaze unnerving Jun further. Then, as if on cue, the stillness of the forest shatters.
A low, chilling laugh echoes through the trees, twisting around them like a predator stalking its prey. It sends a shiver down Jun’s spine, and Ace’s muscles tighten.
"Well, well, well," comes a familiar, venomous voice. "Look who decided to show up. It’s not like I didn’t expect you to show up with what I want! You wouldn’t want your "daddy" to be send to hell! Where most of you belong! Would you?"
Lila’s dark figure illuminated by a sliver of moonlight breaking through the dense canopy, stands there. She drags a bound figure behind her_ an older man struggling against the ropes that bind his hands, legs, and even his mouth.
"Dad!" Jun’s voice cracks, panic flooding his expression.
Mr. Wang’s eyes widen when he sees his son.
He tries to speak, but the cloth stuffed into his mouth muffles his voice.
He thrashes harder, his face pale with fear and confusion.
"Touching, isn’t it?" Lila sneers, her smirk curling as she presses her lifeless anchor against Mr. Wang’s chest, aligning it with exactly where his heart is.
The sharp, deadly end gleams ominously in the faint light.
Ace takes a step forward, his voice a low growl. "Let him go, Lila."
Her laugh is sharp, almost shrill. "Oh, Ace. So brave. So predictable. Do you really think you have any leverage here?"
Ace doesn’t flinch. His eyes stay locked on hers, golden and unyielding. "If you are not going to let him go, am not going to do whatever you want me to do!" Ace says firmly.
"Great plan Ace, then we can stand here for the rest of our lives because am not stupid! Of course neither are you! So unless you do it, am not letting him go!" Lila snaps, her tone cutting.
She gestures with the anchor, and Mr. Wang flinches as it presses harder against him. "Unless you want to see Jun’s dear father bleed out right here, you’ll do exactly as I say."
The tension in the air is suffocating. Xiao Jun takes a shaky step forward, his voice trembling. "Lila, I did whatever you want me to do! So let him go! You wanted Ace, I brought him to you! What else do you want from me!"
Lila’s smirk deepens. " Right, you brought him to me just as instructed. That’s more like it. See, Ace? Jun knows how to be obedient. Maybe you should take notes. Anyway, Xiao Jun, you brought him, but that’s not enough! Make him do whatever I want him to do, and I will let the three of you go."
As she speaks, Justine and Leo walks slowly away from her side and stand on the other side with Ace and Xiao Jun.
Their faces are pale, their expressions tense. They move stiffly, their eyes flicking nervously between Lila, Jun and Ace.
Lila’s eyes widen in disbelief. "What do you think you’re doing?" she snaps.
Leo lifts his chin, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes. "It’s obvious who is in the wrong here now, and not even for a moment did I ever imagine myself betraying my own pack! We’ve been walking with you thinking that we are really doing the right thing! But all of it was lies!" Leo snaps, not caring of the consequences.
Justine adds, his voice quiet but firm, "We’d rather die fighting alongside what’s right than live another second under your rule."
For a moment, there’s silence. Then Lila’s face twists with rage. "You naive fools!" she shrieks, her voice rising. "Wait until I’m finished with these others. Then I’ll deal with you! I’ll make you regret your decision!"
Her fury is palpable, her composure cracking. The hand holding the anchor trembles slightly, though she quickly steadies it.
"Xiao Jun," she hisses, turning her focus back to him. "You’d better not be having second thoughts or any foolish plans." She presses the anchor harder against Mr. Wang’s side, drawing a muffled wince from him. Because if you are... you’ll leave this place without him_ or rather, with his corpse. So tell Ace to activate this anchor now, or I’ll finish him off right here!"
Jun freezes, his hands clenching into fists at his sides. His mind races, panic clouding his thoughts. One wrong move, and his father is dead.
Ace steps closer, his voice calm but deadly. "If you kill him, you lose your leverage."
Lila laughs again, though there’s an edge of desperation to it now. "And if you don’t cooperate, I still win. Either way, Ace, this game ends with me on top."
Ace’s gaze flickers to Jun, who looks completely torn. His breaths come in shallow gasps, his shoulders trembling.
"Jun," Ace says softly, his voice steady. "Look at me."
Jun hesitates, then meets Ace’s gaze.
"We’re going to get him out of this," Ace says. "But you have to trust me. Don’t let her control you."
Jun swallows hard, nodding despite the fear in his eyes.
Lila lets out a frustrated growl. "Enough of this nonsense! Do it now, or he dies!"
As the tension in the clearing becomes unbearable, a sudden shift in the air sends a shiver down Ace’s spine.
He doesn’t see him at first, but he senses him—Kieran.
Lila, too consumed by her rage and desperation, doesn’t notice the silent approach.
Kieran moves with the grace of a predator, his every step calculated, his eyes locked on Lila.
Without warning, he strikes.
Lila lets out a startled cry as Kieran ambushes her, his powerful hand grabbing her wrist and forcing the anchor away from Mr. Wang.
The older man collapses to the ground, gasping, as Kieran shoves Lila back with a snarl.
Lila’s eyes widen, panic flickering in them for the first time. "No!" she shrieks, struggling against Kieran’s grip. "I won’t let you win!"
Her voice is drowned out by the growls of the wolves closing in, their eyes gleaming with fury. She knows it’s over, but she refuses to go down quietly.
With a sudden burst of energy, she yanks her arm free and throws the anchor in a desperate move, its sharp end spinning through the air, aimed directly at Xiao Jun.
Time seems to slow.
Ace watches in horror as the anchor strikes Jun, the blade embedding itself deep in his neck.
"No!" Ace screams, collapsing to the ground beside Jun.
Blood pours from the wound, soaking the earth beneath him.
Xiao Jun’s breaths come in ragged gasps, his eyes wide with shock and pain.
Ace’s hands tremble as he presses them against the wound, trying to stem the flow of blood. "Jun! God no...! Xiao Jun!" Tears streak his face as he sobs, his voice breaking.
Kieran turns to Ace, his expression hard but his eyes filled with determination. "Ace, deal with her," he says, his voice sharp and commanding. "I’ll find a way to help Jun. I promise, trust me, please! We can’t afford letting her run again!"
Ace leaves hesitantly.
Mr. Wang groans looking at his son and the chaos around that he has no clue about.
Kieran kneels beside Jun, his jaw clenched.
He can see the life slipping away from Jun, the light in his eyes dimming. "Think alpha think," Kieran mutters under his breath.
Kieran hesitates, his hand hovering over Jun’s pale face. "He won’t get to the hospital on time, he has no time, we can’t let him die!" Kieran cant even think straight, all he knows is that he cannot let Xiao Jun die.
Ace would never get over that!
"Maybe... maybe... a bite. My bite. Maybe it’ll will save him, it’s better he becomes one of us, than dead!"
An alpha’s bite can turn a human into a werewolf! He thinks. If Xiao Jun will become one, his body will heal instantly, werewolves have the ability to heal with no time!
Kieran wastes no time.
He lowers his head to Jun’s neck, his sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight.
With a swift, precise motion, he bites down.
Jun’s body jerks violently, a strangled cry escaping his lips.
