Chapter 122: Letter Discussion.

The air is still, heavy with the weight of what they are about to do.

The small room they’ve gathered in is lit only by the warm glow of lanterns, the flickering light casting long shadows against the walls.

Ace sits at the head of the table, arms crossed, his expression unreadable as he listens to the quiet murmurs between Rika, Elira, Max, and Jun.

A single sheet of parchment lies between them, untouched, except for the pen resting beside it.

They all know that whatever words end up on that page will shape the future of the witches, their people.

It could mean the difference between war and peace.

"We have to be careful with how we say things," Rika finally speaks, her fingers drumming lightly against the wooden table. "We can’t come across as weak, but we also can’t sound arrogant. If they think we’re just trying to act superior, they won’t listen."

Elira nods. "Agreed. This isn’t about proving we’re better than them. It’s about making them see that we don’t want to fight anymore."

Ace exhales slowly, leaning forward. "We should start by acknowledging the past. If we ignore it, they’ll think we’re pretending none of it happened."

Max leans back in his chair, arms crossed. "Then how do we phrase it? We can’t just say, ’Hey, sorry about all that. Let’s be friends now.’"

A faint smirk tugs at Ace’s lips, but it fades quickly. "Something like... ’We know there’s history between us, and not all of it is good.’"

Rika picks up the pen and writes it down, nodding as she speaks. "That’s a good opening. It sets the tone without being too formal or distant."

Jun leans in slightly. "We should mention Hunter. If we’re trying to fix things, they need to know that his influence is gone."

Elira agrees. "Yes, they need to hear that his actions don’t define us."

Rika thinks for a moment, then writes:

’We acknowledge the pain and losses caused by Hunter’s actions. His choices divided us, turning allies into enemies. But now, Hunter is no more, and his decisions no longer define us. Whatever happened had nothing to do with with any of us since what he did to you is exactly what he did to us. But now that he is not around to control any of us, we would like to make peace, apologise on his behalf.’

She glances up. "Does that work?"

Ace reads over the words carefully. It’s honest without being overly apologetic. It doesn’t excuse what happened, but it also makes it clear that things have changed. He nods. "It’s strong. It doesn’t make us sound like we’re making excuses."

Max sighs, rubbing his temple. "Alright, so we addressed the past. Now we have to say what we actually want from them."

"We want peace," Elira says simply. "But we can’t just say it and expect them to accept it."

Ace tilts his head. "Then we should frame it as an opportunity. Not a demand, not an order... just an offer."

Rika nods and begins writing again, adding to the letter:

’We seek an opportunity to meet, not as foes, but as people who once shared a bond. If you are willing, we wish to sit together and discuss a path toward peace.’

Jun’s brows furrow. "Do you think they’ll see it that way? Or will they think it’s a trap?"

Ace considers the question carefully before responding. "If we’re going to earn their trust, we need to let them decide how this meeting happens."

Max gestures to the parchment. "Then we should make it clear that they get to choose the place."

Rika writes adding up:

’If you are open to this, we propose a meeting at a neutral ground of your choosing. Come with your concerns, your anger, and your truths. And we will listen.’

Silence follows as everyone stares at the words on the page. The weight of them, the finality.

"It’s good," Elira says softly. "It gives them control. It makes them feel like they aren’t being backed into a corner."

Max exhales. "And it makes sure they know we’re actually listening, not just talking at them."

Rika places the pen down and looks at Ace. "You should be the one to sign it. They respect you."

Ace hesitates. "What? They don’t even know me." Ace says.

"Who are you kidding Ace?" Max asks, "...everyone who is a supernatural being knows who Ace with mysterious powers , granted by the moon goddess is. And if they have never seen you, they have heard of you." He says.

"Well, even so, I don’t think they should know that am being involved, it might influence their decision, so maybe it’s better if the current leaders of this pack should do it." Ace suggests.

"Right" Jun agrees, "they might think you are calling them to burn them to ashes." Everyone chuckles at that.

So now Rika has no choice but pick up the pen again, she signs.

"You too Max." Elira says.

Max also picks up the pen and signs his name.

After the letter is set, now it’s remaining one important thing, send and hope.

Everyone’s mind races.

"What happens if they don’t respond?" Max asks, voicing the question on everyone’s mind.

"Then we keep trying," Elira says firmly. "One letter won’t fix everything, but it’s a start."

Jun exhales, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, the problem is how they will really respond."

Ace nods. "Regardless, we are sending it, let them respond however they want. At least we get to know what will be coming."

He has to believe that.

There’s a heavy silence, a shared understanding that they have just set something into motion. Something they can’t take back.

He just hope that there will not be fights and shedding of blood. That’s the one thing he never wants. If there was a way to solve everything with just a calm glance, he would always go for that.

He looks around the room, at the people who have fought beside him, who have stood through every challenge, he knows one thing for certain... whatever happens next, they will face it together.
