After Being Blackened All Over the Internet, I Ruled the Military Variety Shows-Chapter 5: The Surprise Appearance of a Marriage Certificate
Chapter 5 - 5: The Surprise Appearance of a Marriage Certificate
Jiang Lingxi heard the sound of a door opening and closing, and the somewhat chaotic noise from the corridor followed, causing her to groggily open her eyes. All she saw was a tall, upright figure flashing by in her line of sight.
Although what lingered in her view was a dark gray suit, at that moment, an inexplicable sense of familiarity made her instinctively call out, "Shen Qing!"
However, this call was more of a murmur, and the figure did not pause, quickly disappearing completely from her view.
Jiang Lingxi couldn't help but let out a self-mocking laugh. She must have been bewitched just now!
Otherwise, how could she have thought that the silhouette from before looked so much like her Prime Minister!
Better to continue sleeping; in dreams, anything is possible.
Outside the ward.
Tong Yue carefully and respectfully watched Mr. Shen leave with two assistants, until they disappeared around a corner in the corridor. Only then did Tong Yue and Lu Zhengzheng exchange a glance and enter the ward together.
Lu Zhengzheng immediately looked toward the bed, and when she saw Jiang Lingxi still asleep, her eyes widened like she had discovered a new continent. In a low, incredulous voice, she asked, "How is Xixi still asleep?"
Tong Yue was also surprised, but managed to maintain her composure better than the young assistant.
"Naturally, Mr. Shen didn't disturb her rest."
"Then what did Mr. Shen do in the ward for so long? Could it be that he just watched Xixi sleep?"
Tong Yue was at a loss for words, "Why do you care about what a married couple does? The IV is about to finish; go call a nurse to remove the needle."
After Lu Zhengzheng hurriedly brought a nurse over, she leaned quietly toward Tong Yue and whispered, "Tong Jie, when Xixi wakes up, should we tell her that Mr. Shen came to see her?"
Tong Yue considered this seriously upon hearing it, but ultimately decided to stay out of it, "We should meddle less in their affairs."
If they accidentally offended Jiang Lingxi, she might just let it slide.
If they accidentally offended that Mr. Shen, they couldn't even imagine the consequences!

"Speaking of which, Mr. Shen and Xixi are quite a match. Even individually they're pleasing to the eye, and when they're together... umph!"
Tong Yue released her hand from over her mouth, her face uncharacteristically stern, "As long as your sister Xixi doesn't mention her husband, you shouldn't either!"
Though she wasn't clear about many things, she was certain that the marriage held some hidden issues concerning Mr. Shen!
Curiosity beyond one's ability is purely asking for trouble!
Shocked, Lu Zhengzheng nervously shook her head, pretending to zip her mouth shut, ensuring that she wouldn't speak of it.
So when Jiang Lingxi awakened from a deep sleep, she was completely unaware that anyone had visited her while she was out.
Supported for a series of unheard-of examinations, she finally received a pardon: the doctor approved her discharge.
By the time she returned home, it was already evening.
After returning, Jiang Lingxi was arranged to sit on a recliner by the floor-to-ceiling window to watch the sunset from the sixteenth floor, with Lu Zhengzheng buzzing around like a busy bee behind her.
She didn't pretend to be strong, having been bedridden for two days without eating or drinking, with healing scrapes on her arms and legs, any help from her would just be a bother.
Watching the sunset from the sixteenth floor was quite nice, though slightly disappointing because the place was smaller than she imagined.
She thought of just exercising at home, but there wasn't even enough space to run properly, let alone a marathon.
"Xixi Jie, it's almost six. What would you like for dinner?"
Jiang Lingxi turned to look at her, "Are you cooking?"
Lu Zhengzheng walked to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and while checking the fresh ingredients inside, replied, "I can make some home-cooked dishes. I see there are quite a few ingredients in the fridge. The doctor did advise you to eat nutritiously for better wound recovery, so how about I make pork rib soup and stir-fry a few small dishes, with rice as the main course?"
"Sure, you make the arrangements."
Having had exquisite delicacies and slept rough outdoors, she could naturally enjoy home-cooked dishes too.
"Then Xixi Jie, just wait for me to show my skills."
The last rays of sunset disappeared from view, and the lights on the balcony and in the living room behind her automatically turned on as they sensed the dimming light. Jiang Lingxi squinted slightly and looked up at the large crystal chandelier hanging in the center of the living room.
From waking up in the hospital, to sitting in the car on the way back, witnessing the hustle and bustle of traffic and tall buildings through the car window, to this giant crystal chandelier.
The whole day seemed to be full of silent awe.
Lush sights, turns out that's all there was!
Half an hour later, the dishes were served.
This time, Jiang Lingxi didn't let Lu Zhengzheng come help her up. She walked to the dining table herself, stepping on the soft, furry carpet.
They were indeed very common dishes, but just off the stove, still carried the unmistakable aroma of home cooking and the rice smelled delicious.
"Not bad craftsmanship."
"Hehe, you're too kind, too kind. Actually, my parents ran a small restaurant, so I guess I've soaked up some of it since childhood." In the past, Lu Zhengzheng wouldn't have spoken of such personal matters; she knew the person in front of her wasn't interested. But the atmosphere was right, and she couldn't help but share a bit more.
Realizing afterward that she had spoken out of turn, she glanced over carefully to see Jiang Lingxi listening intently, making her heart warm, "Xixi Jie, please sit and try this corn rib soup. The pressure cooker here works wonders."
"You sit too."
The two picked up their chopsticks and officially started eating, but as they ate, Lu Zhengzheng's pace of picking up dishes gradually slowed, and she quietly looked across the table.
Seeing that Xixi Jie's bowl was already half empty, she noticed that Jiang Lingxi ate no less than she did.
Yet compared to her own manner of eating like a hungry wolf, the other person seemed to do so with an elegance akin to dining in a graceful banquet hall.
Even though they were eating the same meal!
"Are you full?"
"Ah, not yet, but I've noticed that Xixi Jie's eating much more than before. You used to eat only a few bites of the main meal, sometimes none at all."
Lu Zhengzheng gestured with her fingers to indicate just how little it was.
Jiang Lingxi silently mused for two seconds; she hadn't delved into the original persona's memories for minor details like eating habits.
With so little, it's no wonder she was so thin!
But with her now, eating less wasn't an option.
She believed in one hard truth: you need to eat well to have energy to work!
After the meal, all the pots and dishes were entrusted to the dishwasher.
With Lu Zhengzheng's help, Jiang Lingxi carefully washed up while avoiding her wounds. After changing into a robe, she watched some television in the living room. Hearing a yawn from beside her, she suggested they retire to bed.
After watching Lu Zhengzheng enter the guest room, Jiang Lingxi raised her hand and opened the door to the master bedroom.
The lighting in the bedroom was dimmer than in the living room, which was perfect for sleeping.
Having surveyed the entire room, Jiang Lingxi sat by the bedside and casually turned on the lamp on the nightstand.
As she withdrew her hand, something inadvertently triggered, and the edge of the nightstand suddenly lit up, causing the drawer below to slowly open automatically.
Jiang Lingxi's attention was drawn to the drawer, and after a moment, she reached out and took a small, vibrant red booklet from the top.
The golden lettering on the cover was clear under the lamplight; she looked at the three largest words and murmured them softly, "Marriage Certificate!"
Jiang Lingxi was genuinely stunned.
The original owner's lingering memories contained no references to marriage-related matters, so why was there this little booklet representing a married status?
Now, the answer was in her hands, just waiting for her to open it!
