Chapter 90: Chapter 0090 This Must Be a Mutation

Neither side made a move.

The Earth Demons were wary of a potential trap, while Lin Fan hesitated, unsure if he really wanted to fight.

For now, he hadn’t made up his mind. If he started and couldn’t win, it’d be pretty embarrassing.

"Boss, when are we going to start? Just staring isn’t a solution either."

Some of the Earth Demons were growing impatient. After all, it’s just an Immortal Sect Disciple—what could be so special? Yet the boss seemed concerned about something. What was there to worry about? If they all attacked together, they’d easily take this guy down.

The Earth Demon leader noticed the Green Toad Saber in Lin Fan’s hand, his eyes gleaming with greed. If he could obtain that Magical Treasure, his status among the Earth Demons would undoubtedly rise.

Being the leader of just twenty-something Earth Demons wasn’t enough.

He aimed to lead a hundred Earth Demons.

So he had to get his hands on this Magical Treasure; otherwise, all of this would be for nothing.

Lin Fan was trying to figure out what these Earth Demons were up to. They hadn’t struck yet—was it because they also weren’t confident in defeating him? Or could it be that they’d secretly informed other Earth Demons and were stalling until reinforcements arrived to swarm him with sheer numbers?

The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

His Mana was now at fifty years, his Inner Strength nearly five hundred years. With his various Innate Divine Abilities, it was hard to say whose victory it would be, but he felt quite confident.

Screw it.

No need to overthink. If he couldn’t win, he’d just run.

In an instant.

Lin Fan activated his movement technique. His figure became ghostly and elusive, his footsteps unpredictable. To deal with four Earth Demons, one of whom had greater Mana than himself, brute force wasn’t an option—strategy was key.

Currently, the only Sword Skill he knew was the Fiery Sun Saber Skill, and it was merely a martial art of the mortal world, relying on Mana as its foundation to unleash a strike.

Burning Sky.

In that moment.

The Green Toad Saber erupted with a dazzling light as fiery flames soared skyward. The searing heatwaves rushed toward him, surprising Lin Fan. He hadn’t expected utilizing Mana with the Fiery Sun Saber Skill would yield such an effect.

A single slash struck toward one of the Earth Demons. However, the strongest among them let out a roar, flipped his palm, and a mundane saber appeared in his hand. As he infused it with Mana, it emitted a dark glow, instantly clashing with Lin Fan’s slash.

"This Magical Treasure isn’t something you can wield to its full potential. It should be mine," the Earth Demon leader said greedily. In mere moments, the two exchanged dozens of strikes.

The Green Toad Saber, as a Magical Treasure, had no difficulty slicing through ordinary blades. But the Mana of this Earth Demon was overwhelmingly dense. He directly contended with sheer Mana, and although slightly at a disadvantage, Lin Fan found it would take significant effort to break through.

The other three Earth Demons also cast envious gazes at the Green Toad Saber in Lin Fan’s grasp. They desired it too, but with the leader present, how could it be their turn?

The four Earth Demons attacked together, and the pressure mounted.

"Oh, so just because you say it’s yours, it is? What makes you think you can wield it better? That’s some shameless logic," Lin Fan jabbed as he quickly injured one of the Earth Demons with a slash. He wanted to land a finishing blow, but the Earth Demon leader wasn’t about to give him that chance.

If he wanted to kill these three Earth Demons, he’d first have to eliminate their leader.

However, relying on swordsmanship alone to kill the Earth Demon leader was too difficult. The sword technique limited his combat potential. Sliding the Green Toad Saber back into his belt, he switched to the Earth Gang Fist Technique.

This fist technique was a foundational skill of the Gangtian Immortal Sect. Though basic, it was no longer of the mortal world, capable of achieving wondrous effects once unleashed.

As soon as Lin Fan began performing the Earth Gang Fist Technique, he sensed its punches channeling the Earth Evil Power, gathering it on his fists. Earth Demons, being particularly attuned to Earth Evil Power, reacted strongly to it.

"You’re a disciple of the Gangtian Immortal Sect. Damn these Immortal Sects, always coming to the Earth Demons’ Plains to cause trouble. You’re all dead men!" the Earth Demon leader bellowed when he saw Lin Fan’s mastery of the Earth Gang Fist Technique. He immediately assumed Lin Fan was part of the Gangtian Immortal Sect.

Only disciples of the Gangtian Immortal Sect could grasp the essence of the Gangtian Fist Technique.

Bam!

Bam!

Lin Fan landed several punches on the Earth Demon leader, but the expected spurt of blood didn’t happen. Instead, he noticed that the leader’s defenses were extraordinary. Suddenly, he discovered something strange on the surface of the leader’s skin, as if something had fused with his body. Under the force of his punches, it showed signs of separating.

Got it.

Moments ago, he had detected that the leader possessed a damaged Demon Worm Inner Armor. Could this be it?

Damn it!

It’s really like fighting a turtle. He threw punch after punch but felt the reverberations hitting back at him with significant force.

"Damn you!" the Earth Demon leader roared furiously, his eyes radiating ferocity. The blade in his hand suddenly erupted with light, along with a dangerous aura rushing toward Lin Fan.

"Sound-breaking Demon Saber Technique!"

In an instant, the Earth Demon leader burned his Mana, vanishing as if he’d never existed in this world.

Danger!

Lin Fan’s hair stood on end. This was the first time he’d gone up against someone with Mana, and his nerves were on edge. The leader’s sudden disappearance heightened his unease.

What kind of Saber Technique was this Sound-breaking Demon Saber Technique?

Suddenly.

His Innate Divine Ability, Sudden Shock, triggered. Instinctively, his feet stomped hard on the ground, sending his body sliding backward. At that exact moment, the Earth Demon leader appeared before him, his saber’s gleaming edge slicing toward Lin Fan’s throat.

"You actually dodged that?" The Earth Demon leader’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had burned his Mana to unleash the Sound-breaking Demon Saber Technique, achieving peak speed. He should have slain Lin Fan in one strike, yet against all odds, Lin Fan evaded at the critical moment.

Lin Fan felt a chill at his neck. While he avoided the attack, the sharp saber light still nicked his skin.

"Die already!"

Lin Fan noticed a momentary halt in the Earth Demon leader’s Mana flow. Seizing the opportunity, he reached for the Green Toad Saber at his waist. With a deft spin of the blade in his palm, he swung his arm, sending the Green Toad Saber spinning out. With a squelch, it slit the Earth Demon leader’s throat directly.

If it were an ordinary weapon, cutting through the leader’s skin would’ve been nearly impossible.

But a Magical Treasure was different. Infused with Mana, its sharpness was unmatched. Slicing through the leader’s flesh was as easy as cutting tofu, with no resistance at all.

"How... could this be?"

The Earth Demon leader clutched his throat, staring at Lin Fan in disbelief. He couldn’t fathom such an outcome.

Even Lin Fan recognized how terrifying the leader’s earlier move had been. If not for his Innate Divine Ability, he’d have been the one to die.

He had caught a lucky break.

And that bit of luck had turned the entire situation around.

The Earth Demon leader’s use of the Sound-breaking Demon Saber Technique had clearly drained his Mana significantly, causing his control to falter. This gave Lin Fan the opening he needed to finish him off with one strike.

Now that the leader was dead, the rest would be manageable. Come on, at least drop something useful. I’m not asking for much—just let me have his Mana, all right?

And throw in a complete Spirit Root while you’re at it.

This was his first encounter with an Earth Demon possessing a complete Spirit Root.

Perhaps this was some sort of mutation.

"Run."

"Run for your lives!"

The remaining three Earth Demons stared in horror at the scene before them.

What the hell?

Their leader died such a humiliating death?
